The first Early Access chapter adds the Goblin Breach, a handcrafted dungeon, a multi-phase boss, rune abilities, and the game's first minigames.

The first Early Access chapter adds the Goblin Breach, a handcrafted dungeon, a multi-phase boss, rune abilities, and the game’s first minigames.

Hytale’s first full content chapter, Out of the Breach, is live in Exploration Mode. Released on October 12, 2026 as version 0.7.0, it hands the goblin faction a complete overhaul and builds a whole loop around their junk-built contraptions: a new highland biome, a handcrafted dungeon, the game’s first multi-phase boss fight, a rune-powered ability system, and the first experiences outside Exploration and Creative.

Quick answer: Load any Exploration Mode world, head to the Forgotten Temple, and investigate the Goblin Lab to open the chapter. From there you reach the Goblin Breach, the Guttering Hollows biome, five gadgets, seven Runestone abilities, and the Deepworks dungeon ending at the Gobliterator.

Starting Chapter I at the Forgotten Temple

The Forgotten Temple starts stirring whether you return to an existing save or begin a new one. Visit the temple and investigate its new Goblin Lab to gain access to the chapter. A dedicated Chapter screen shows your objectives and the cosmetics awarded for completing each one.

The temple is built for the long haul: Hypixel Studios plans to develop it into a progression hub with each upcoming Early Access chapter, making it useful to get acquainted with it now. In the update, one of the marble dome buildings became a goblin industrial structure, a trio of mannequins was added in a row, and the Runebinder’s Lattice was installed. Hypixel Studios’ official Out of the Breach announcement has the complete details.

The Goblin Breach and the Guttering Hollows

Once the chapter is unlocked, a temporary portal materializes somewhere in your world with a heavy impact, so give it room when it arrives. Step through to reach a dangerous part of Orbis where goblins dwell and the Void pushes in from the edges. The site is generated anew each time you visit, often exposing things you have not seen before, so no two trips are alike.

The Void gives you a limited window. Use it to explore, fight, solve puzzles, and grab loot before you are forced back out. You can buy yourself more time by pushing back the Void and upgrading the Goblin Breach Console inside the Goblin Lab.

Past the breach lies the Guttering Hollows, a wooded highland packed with discoveries above ground and below. Follow and trap predators, evade Void assassins on your tail, loot chests that release enemy groups, and crack puzzles protecting places you cannot dig your way into. A Voidheart lets you pursue hunts across a breach, with hunt sites shown by a unique icon on the world map. Developers describe the region as a base they plan to build on over time.

The goblin faction and its elites

Goblins now come in varied builds, sizes, and temperaments. The majority are aggressive, move in groups, and appear to work together despite their chaotic ways. Others prefer to steer clear of a fight. Void creatures frighten them into fleeing unless they have enough companions nearby, and some friendly goblins run shops where you can trade.

The hostile goblins fill distinct combat roles you learn to read quickly.

GoblinRole in a fight
Goblin ScrapperFast, lightly armed melee that swarms you
Goblin MinerSturdier melee with a heavy leaping attack
Goblin GuardianPlated protector that blocks with a shield
Goblin LobberRanged attacker throwing explosives
Goblin BurnerDistance attacker with a flamethrower

Elite goblins have individual mechanics and serve as mini-boss encounters. One example is the Goblin Feastmaster: it rushes you, summons backup during the battle, and can wreck the arena with its attacks. The Encounter Manager system handles encounter stages, enemy waves, and changes to the arena. Since encounters are built as content instead of being hard-coded into the engine, the team can continue adding new ones.

Goblin gadgets and the carry mechanic

Goblins’ improvised gadgets become loot you can use yourself. Each has a rough-and-ready design and affects how you travel through or construct things in the world. Make them at the Goblin Tinkerer’s Workbench from supplies such as Boom Powder, Iron Ingot, and Straps.

GadgetWhat it does
Scrap DrillBreaks a 2×2 patch of blocks in one use
Scrap GliderMaintain your momentum as you fly, dive, or climb (keep an eye on stamina)
Rocket BootsGrants a double jump
HookshotUse Hook Anchors to travel rapidly across the world
SpyglassZooms in on distant action

Alongside the five gadgets, you can craft the Bangstick, a stick that goes bang, and a Goblin Repair Kit that mends items without lowering their maximum durability. Basic boats were also added, with proper movement and effects.

With the new carry mechanic, you can lift and transport selected blocks and objects, such as chests or explosive barrels. This lets you relocate an entire storage room in one go, throw a barrel at enemies for a makeshift ranged attack, or carry resources that would not fit in a regular inventory.

Runestones and the new ability system

Runestones introduce a new ability system in Chapter I: gather stones and fit them into the Runebinder’s Lattice. You may equip as many as two Ability Runestones, with Modifier Runestones added to alter their effects. Abilities use mana that restores over time; hitting an enemy with your weapon’s signature ability provides a boost.

At launch, the game offers seven Ability Runestones, each providing a core power to customize.

Ability RunestoneEffect
FireballSends out a fireball that bursts on impact
Ground SlamDrives spikes up from the ground to launch enemies into the air
Wind StrikeEmpowers your next three strikes to send out piercing arcs of wind
EnrageRaises damage dealt and damage taken
Imbue PoisonApplies a stacking poison debuff on hit
Chain HookLaunches a hook that damages an enemy and draws them closer
Charged ShotFires a frost bolt; damage and slow scale with charge time

Eight Modifier Runestones let you alter the abilities. You can split a projectile into multiple shots, make it ricochet from foe to foe, apply withering or bleeding, or sacrifice damage for a faster cooldown. Developers consider this the first set of options, with a deeper Runeforging system slated for future chapters.

The Deepworks dungeon and the Gobliterator

Chapter progression leads to the Deepworks, Hytale’s first dungeon made entirely by hand. Its winding rooms present fresh tests as you descend, from battling goblin hordes to avoiding fire and falling debris and tackling puzzles. Checkpoints give you a way back into the dungeon after a defeat without requiring a return to the entrance. Mossy, wet cave passages blend with industrial machinery, while green aquifers and piles of stolen goods fill the surrounding spaces.

The agile Feastmaster confronts you partway through the dungeon. At the end, face the Gobliterator, Hytale’s first large-scale boss with multiple stages. A goblin operates the massive machine, which uses cannons and flamethrowers to deal burn damage over several phases. When it marks the ground, a powerful attack is on its way—get clear before it hits. Prepare for a difficult battle.

A control just left of the boss chamber entrance lets you raise the encounter’s difficulty. Activate it only when you’re ready to take on a tougher fight.

The $15,000 Gobliterator bounty

Game director and co-founder Simon Collins-Laflamme is putting up $15,000 for the first streamer to defeat the Gobliterator on hard mode while following strict rules. The attempt must be solo and in hardcore mode, without armor, potions, or glitches. Players may use only iron weapons available in Exploration Mode, and they must stream or record the run so its VOD can be checked.

Because the dungeon and boss were deliberately kept out of the pre-release build, nobody could rehearse the fight before launch day. Some edge cases, such as whether food counts as a potion, were left open, with a fuller ruleset promised before launch.

Minigames: Prop Hunt and Shuffle Jam

The main menu now includes Minigames, Hytale’s first mode beyond Exploration and Creative. Enter matchmaking alone or as a party, and it will find a game for you. Two games are available initially; they launch shortly after the chapter goes live, not at the same time.

Prop Hunt splits players into Hunters and Props inside a crowded tavern. As a Prop you disguise yourself as beds, tankards, barrels, and other objects, taunt to charge a smoke-bomb-and-dash escape, and try to survive to the end. As a Hunter you track and eliminate Props, and every one you catch switches sides to join the hunt.

Shuffle Jam deals out party microgames from a playlist in a newly randomized sequence each match. Earn stars during the rounds; the player with the most at the end wins. There are 12 microgames in the launch lineup.

  • Color Party — survive by standing on the correct colored block.
  • Diving — jump around like a frog and claim pond blocks.
  • High Ground — remain within the circle and knock your rivals out.
  • Lavablocks — stay ahead of rising lava by smashing blocks.
  • Lazers — rack up eliminations by firing lasers.
  • Memory Floor — memorize the shapes, then choose the one that matches.
  • Plot Painter — color blocks to secure the largest portion for yourself.
  • Racing — hit the correct blocks with shots to gain speed and cover more ground.
  • Stash & Seek — hide your relics, then track down the other players’ hidden stashes.
  • Tile Flip — run across tiles to claim them and grab power-ups.
  • TNT Run — cross the map with parkour as its blocks disappear beneath you.
  • TNT Tag — pass the TNT by tagging a player before it detonates.

Plans for later include adding a Minigames tab to the Mod Browser and providing tools for players to create their own games.

Combat changes, transparency, and cosmetics

Combat received a broad set of changes. Swings with battleaxes, maces, daggers, and swords are roughly 15% faster; crossbow damage has been heavily reduced, and weapon movement effects are now more consistent. Damage no longer interrupts eating or drinking, eating slows you down less, and several food effects have been retuned. Non-elite Chapter I enemies can be staggered by hits, interrupting their attacks until they briefly resist further staggers. Elites and bosses are unaffected by stagger.

True transparency is now supported by the engine, enabling stained glass and window blocks as well as transparent sections on entities and NPCs. The update adds over 100 cosmetic choices, including hairstyles, eyes, earrings, and goblin head ornaments that produce their own stinky particle effects. Chapter progression unlocks the Scrap Arcanist and Junk Pilot sets. New additions also include goblin-themed blocks, weapons associated with chapter encounters, throwable barrels, fresh music, and support for French and Spanish.

Cursebreaker Edition extra copies

For every Early Access chapter released, Cursebreaker Edition owners get an additional Standard Edition copy to give away. Should six chapters arrive before the 1.0 launch, they will have six copies in all. The chapter sequence begins with Out of the Breach, and the Forgotten Temple is designed to serve the chapters still to come as Hytale develops through Early Access.
