Instagram will soon let you tag someone in videos too. The company has updated their support page to show instructions on how to tag people in a video. Until now, you could only @mention someone in your videos on Instagram.
TechCrunch earlier this month reported that the feature is currently under testing. Now, with Instagram updating the support pages, it is possible that the feature is rolling out to more users as we write. We tried it on a couple of our Instagram accounts but didn’t get the option to “Tag People” in videos yet.
Notably, Instagram recently updated their iOS and Android app on Sept. 18th with the changelog only mentioning “bug fixes and improvements.” But there’s possible that the updated apps already have the feature to Tag People in videos baked in, and it is either rolling out to select users right now or waiting for a server-side switch from Instagram to go live.
Anyway, as per the help page, to tag people in a video on Instagram you have to do the following:
- Go to the photo or video.
- Tap … (iPhone) or ⋮ (Android) above the photo or video.
- Tap Edit.
- Tap Tag People.
We’ll let you know when the feature is live for everyone. Stay tuned…
Update: The article has been updated to add TechCrunch’s report on Instagram testing video tagging feature from 11th Sept.
