JoJo’s Golden Spirit Tier List: Every Character Ranked (August 2026)

Where all 50 launch units land in the current meta, plus the picks worth building your first team around.

Where all 50 launch units land in the current meta, plus the picks worth building your first team around.

Team building carries every fight in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit, the free-to-play auto-battler from KLab Games and Wanda Cinemas Games that launched worldwide (excluding Japan) on August 13, 2026. You draft characters and Stands from Parts 1 through 6, place them on an eleven-panel board, and let fighting-style synergy, RUSH, and live weather decide the outcome. Knowing which units pull their weight is the fastest way to clear early content without burning resources.

Quick answer: Build around Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli, Koichi Hirose, Giorno Giovanna, Jonathan Joestar, and Tonio Trussardi. They anchor the S tier and cover damage, tanking, support, and healing between them.

Full character tier list (August 2026)

The table below sorts every currently playable unit into five tiers based on meta strength. S tier units are the strongest team anchors, while D tier units fall off quickly once you have alternatives.

DLeaky-Eye Luca, Mariah, Rubber Soul, Shigekiyo Yangu, Squalo, Straizo

Note: Jotaro Kujo, Josuke Higashikata, Jolyne Cujoh, and DIO are confirmed for the roster. Jotaro is already gradable through his live kit — Star Platinum, Assault class, burst that climbs with each consecutive hit on the same target — while the others are not fully in rotation yet.

Why the S tier holds up

Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli covers both single-target and area damage, and his bubble barrier controls enemy movement well enough to lock a target down at higher skill levels. He also restores his own energy, which keeps his rotation running without support.

Koichi Hirose is the most reliable tank in the current build, pairing durability with area damage that punishes swarms. Jonathan Joestar plays a defensive role too, shielding and healing allies, though he leans on the rest of the team to close out fights.

Tonio Trussardi is the standout healer, restoring both health and energy across a group. Giorno Giovanna offers one of the best ultimates alongside team healing and energy generation, while Ermes Costello and Diavolo bring shielding and raw speed with heavy single-target output. Pesci earns his spot as a low-rarity unit that stuns, deals damage, and refills his own energy, and because he shows up regularly from pulls he is one of the easiest anchors to invest in.

Value picks in A tier for free accounts

A tier is where a no-spend roster finds most of its power. Hol Horse delivers some of the best single-target damage in the game and refills energy on crit. Muhammad Avdol applies burn across all his abilities for strong damage over time in both single-target and area fights. N’Doul works as a hybrid support and damage dealer whose debuffs counter stealth units, and Sports Maxx stacks base damage to threaten tough solo enemies.

Bruno Bucciarati and Foo Fighters sit high here as well — Bucciarati for single-target burst, stuns, and stealth buffs, and Foo Fighters for a heavy nuke plus self-healing. A squad assembled from these units clears launch-week content without a single lucky SSR pull.

Lower tiers and where they fall short

B tier units are usable but usually need heavy investment or a specific team to shine. Melone can silence enemies and post high damage once you raise his crit rate, and Pet Shop brings frostbite crowd control, but many others in this band lack the burst or area coverage to keep pace. C and D tier picks tend to serve as early-game filler that you replace as soon as a stronger option arrives, so avoid pouring copies and materials into them.

How placement, style, and RUSH interact

Tier alone does not win fights. Every unit belongs to one of six fighting styles — Defense, Assault, Agility, Ranged, Special, and Support — and each style enters RUSH after three characters of different classes fire their ultimates, granting a 25% final damage bonus and some energy. A team stacked with one style delays or breaks that trigger, so spreading classes matters as much as raw power.

Positioning is the other lever. Ranged units deal 5% more damage per tile of distance, so where you place a unit on the eleven-panel board decides what it can reach. Weather adds a third layer. Blizzards slow attack speed, heavy fog cuts ranged range and damage, and specific characters react to it — Squalo gains range in rain, Narancia ignores fog and sandstorm range cuts, and Prosciutto performs better in extreme heat.

Fighting styleCore effect
Defense30% damage reduction for the first 5 seconds of each battle
AssaultBasic attacks heal 150% of Attack below 40% HP, once per 10 seconds
AgilityCrit rate bonus when untargeted, stealth after being hit below 60% HP
Ranged+5% damage per tile of distance from the target
SpecialBasic attacks restore 20% of max energy, once per 10 seconds
SupportHeals an ally 10% of max HP when they drop below 30%, once per 10 seconds

Should you reroll?

Rerolling is less important here than in most gacha games. Lower-rarity units can match SR and SSR performance, and a team is built around a small squad where synergy outweighs any single strong unit. You can delete your account and repeat the tutorial to reroll a first pull, but it is usually better to wait and judge your full lineup before restarting. If you do chase a specific pull, the S and top A tier anchors above are the ones worth the effort.

How this ranking was made

Placements weigh kit strength, damage type coverage, energy sustain, crowd control, and how easily a unit slots into a class-diverse formation that triggers RUSH. This reflects the August 2026 launch build, and balance shifts between the closed beta and live versions can move individual units. Expect the order to firm up as more of the roster settles into the live meta.
