The largest add-on yet brings four new species, three Île Saint-Hubert locations, and geothermal power on June 16.

Frontier Developments is taking Jurassic World Evolution 3 into a fresh chapter with the Rebirth Expansion, the game’s biggest paid add-on so far. Set on the island of Île Saint-Hubert before the events of Jurassic World Rebirth, it hands you three top-secret research sites, four new species headlined by the Distortus rex, and a power system that’s never appeared in the series.

Quick answer: The Rebirth Expansion launches June 16, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S for $24.99 / £19.99 / €24.99. The base game is required to play. You can pre-order or buy it from the official Steam listing.

Rebirth Expansion release date, platforms, and price

The DLC arrives the same day across all three platforms. There is no separate console or PC staggering, and the base game must already be installed.

Four new dinosaurs, including the Distortus rex

The expansion adds four screen-accurate species pulled from the movie. Two are mutant experiments born in the island labs, while the other two round out the herbivore and sauropod rosters with new family units and juvenile variants.

SpeciesType / dietNotable traits
Distortus rexMutant carnivore, live prey8.1m tall, 14.5m long, 10t. Six limbs from polymelia, unique kill animations, extreme aggression.
MutadonMutant carnivore, live preyVelociraptor and Pteranodon hybrid with killing claws and wings; can fly and is hard to contain.
TitanosaurusTall paleobotany herbivore20m tall, 40m long, 60t. Whip-like tail and twin spinal sails, plus a juvenile variant.
AquilopsGround paleobotany herbivoreSmall Early Cretaceous ceratopsian that shifts from four legs to two, with adult dimorphism and a striped tail.

The Distortus rex is the standout threat. It remained on the island for study after experimental engineering left it unfit for display, and in-game it puts your facility’s security and staff safety under serious pressure.

The Île Saint-Hubert campaign and three locations

The story plays out before the island’s downfall in 2010 and uses a flexible Assignment structure. Priority Assignments push the main narrative forward, while optional Assignments unlock new genomes, experimental traits, and research. You manage a shared cash balance across all three sites at once.

  • Main Facility — the heart of operations, where you handle powerful predators using new technology.
  • Ancient Valley — an open space with ancient ruins for studying enormous dinosaurs and natural behaviour.
  • Riverside Lab — a synthesis lab focused on semi-aquatic species, including an immense deadly predator.

New systems: Geothermal Power, Open Air Aviaries, and Experimental Traits

Geothermal Power is the first all-new energy system in the series. You build and route a network of underground pipes to keep power flowing across your facility, and poor management invites chaos.

Open Air Aviaries raise the ceiling for flying species, with higher flight limits, no visual obstruction, and expanded terrain editing heights. New Experimental Traits let you tweak a species’ biology, trading security against research as you change behaviour and social dynamics.

Movie skins for existing species and vehicles

Beyond the four new animals, the expansion adds Rebirth-themed models, skins, and adult variants for species you already keep. Vehicle skins cover the SUV, MVU, ATV, and Helicopter.

SpeciesNew cosmetics
T. rexOne model, one movie skin, 12 colors, six patterns
SpinosaurusOne model, three movie skins, 12 colors, six patterns
MosasaurusOne model, one movie skin, 12 colors, six patterns
QuetzalcoatlusOne model, one movie skin, 12 colors, six patterns
DilophosaurusOne movie skin
VelociraptorTwo movie skins

Scenery and blueprints on Île Saint-Hubert

Building options expand with 387 scenery pieces and 37 blueprints. The themes lean into InGen facility structures and Mayan temple architecture, alongside geothermal piping, structural gantries, and movie-inspired buildings such as the Qualtech Gas Station. Towering temples and decorations help keep your sites looking untouched by the science around them.

Free Update 1.3 for all players

Launching alongside the paid DLC, Update 1.3 is free for everyone who owns the base game. It folds in several gameplay additions even if you skip the expansion.

  • Semi-aquatic behaviour for the T. rex.
  • A Cretaceous cruise feature inside aviaries.
  • Cearadactylus returning from Jurassic World Evolution 2 as a family unit.

Taken together, the Rebirth Expansion is positioned as the largest content drop the game has had, pairing a full new campaign with systems like geothermal power that change how you plan a facility. If you want it on launch day, having the base game installed and the DLC pre-loaded is all you need before June 16.
