Kaizen Halloween Update Guide: Dullahan Boss and Limited Weapon

Update 42 adds the Weeping Forest map, a 280,000 HP world boss, two event currencies and a Pumpkin-priced Halloween Shop.

Update 42 adds the Weeping Forest map, a 280,000 HP world boss, two event currencies and a Pumpkin-priced Halloween Shop.

Kaizen’s Halloween arrives as Update 42, labeled “Halloween Part 1” in-game. It adds a separate event map called the Weeping Forest, a headless world boss named Dullahan, and a shop that sells seasonal gear for Pumpkins. The update also brings a new sword, a binding vow, relics, three themed armor sets and a flaming horse mount. Every item is tied to two event currencies, Pumpkins and Candy Bars.

Quick answer: Update 42 adds the Weeping Forest map and the Dullahan world boss in Withered Grove. Dullahan’s Sword costs 2,000 Pumpkins in the Halloween Shop, and the code Halloween! gives 12 Lucky Clan Spins and 12 Binding Vows Spins.

Kaizen Update 42 contents

Halloween Part 1 adds both systems and items. Here is what changed:

  • A new map, the Weeping Forest, with five named sub-areas
  • Two event currencies: Pumpkins and Candy Bars
  • Dullahan, a Special Grade world boss with 280,000 HP
  • Five new enemy types: Spectre, Clown, Mummy, Witch and Scarecrow
  • Dullahan’s Sword, the Dullahan’s Wrath binding vow and three relics
  • New accessories, three armor sets and the Hellfire Stallion mount
  • Three Halloween titles with permanent stat bonuses

The update shipped with the code Halloween!, including the exclamation mark. It gives 12 Lucky Clan Spins and 12 Binding Vows Spins. Clan and vow rerolls are usually the slowest resources to build up, so the code is worth redeeming even if you skip the rest of the event.

Weeping Forest: Kaizen’s Halloween map

The Weeping Forest is its own instance, separate from the main world. You enter it through a burning jack-o’-lantern portal in the safe zone of the central hub. A blue ring on the ground marks the entry point.

The pumpkin portal in the safe zone leads to the Weeping Forest. Shown at 01:18 in XenoTy’s video.

The map is split into five areas, and you can move between them with the fast travel map:

  • Haunted Crossroads: the entry hub, with its own Blacksmith crafting station
  • Cursed Farmstead: cornfields and a barn
  • Northern Ruins: the fifth named zone on the map
  • Blighted Crossing: a raised bridge over marshland
  • Withered Grove: a moonlit graveyard and courtyard, and Dullahan’s arena

Five new enemy types appear across the map. They are farmed for currency, and each Kaizen grade signals how tough the enemy is.

Clowns spawn into the world as event encounters, and each one pays out more than a normal enemy. Pumpkins also sit on the ground throughout the forest as collectible pickups.

Pumpkins and Candy Bars: how the event currencies work

The two currencies do different jobs. Candy Bars give event XP and move you along the Event Track. Pumpkins are what you spend in the Halloween Shop. Almost every event activity pays out both, in fixed amounts:

ActivityPumpkinsCandy Bars
Collectible pickup12
Aura NPC kill210
Spawned Clown kill510
Halloween Encounter2050
Dullahan boss kill40100

Daily Quests also award Pumpkins and sit next to the Event Track in the event interface. One Dullahan kill pays 40 times more than picking a pumpkin off the ground. That gap explains why boss rotations will set the pace of most players’ progress through the shop.

Dullahan world boss: stats, shield phase and drops

Dullahan is a Special Grade world boss in Withered Grove with 280,000 HP. In the open phase of the fight, he attacks with melee strikes and waves of fire that roll across the graveyard arena.

Cursed Pillars shield mechanic

Once his health drops far enough, Dullahan turns invulnerable and the banner “INVULNERABLE – PILLARS 3” appears. Three Cursed Pillars around the arena are tethered to him, and each pillar has its own health bar. Damage to Dullahan does nothing while the shield is up. As each pillar breaks, a counter updates (“Pillars Destroyed: 1/3”, then “2/3”). When the third pillar falls, the message “Dullahan’s protection has shattered!” confirms he can take damage again.

Dullahan drops and reward threshold

Each kill gives 40 Pumpkins and 100 Candy Bars. Dullahan can also drop his gear directly: Dullahan’s Head, Gauntlets, Armor, Bottoms, Sword, Cape and Visor. The sword can also be bought in the shop, so a bad run of luck has a fallback.

Kaizen only gives world boss rewards to players who deal at least 15% of the boss’s max HP. For Dullahan, that is 42,000 damage. Below that amount, you get nothing, even if your server kills him.

Dullahan’s Sword, Dullahan’s Wrath and the new relics

Dullahan’s Sword is the limited weapon of the event. It comes from Dullahan himself or from the Halloween Shop for 2,000 Pumpkins. It has three skills, and the third stays locked until you raise the weapon’s mastery:

KeySkillMastery required
ZFlame SlashLv. 0
XDash ThrustLv. 0
CSword SlamLv. 100

Flame Slash and Dash Thrust are usable as soon as you equip the sword. Sword Slam, a heavy ground strike, requires mastery level 100.

Dullahan’s Wrath binding vow

Dullahan’s Wrath costs 1,750 Pumpkins and turns long M1 combos into a timed transformation. The in-game description reads:

“Land 50 M1 hits to awaken Dullahan’s Wrath for 25 seconds. M1s deal Cursed Energy damage +7.5%. Each empowered M1 fires a piercing green slash and costs Cursed Energy. Cursed Techniques cost 1% more CE while transformed. (90s cooldown after it ends.)”

The vow also carries permanent penalties that apply whether or not Wrath is active: +5% Cursed Energy cost, -5% melee damage and -3% HP. The trigger is the 50th M1 hit. Once you land it, your basic attacks fire green slashes until the 25 seconds run out.

Gravemaker’s Gauntlet and other relics

Update 42 adds three relics: Dullahan’s Sword Fragment, Gravemaker’s Gauntlet and Dullahan’s Head. Gravemaker’s Gauntlet works on the last hit of an M1 combo. That hit plants a grave-blade behind the target, which erupts shortly after, damaging and launching everything nearby. It has a 12-second cooldown. Dullahan’s Sword Fragment costs 1,500 Pumpkins in the shop.

Halloween Shop prices

All shop items are paid for in Pumpkins. Prices start at 350 and go up to 2,500:

The 1,200-Pumpkin row includes six pieces: Head, Torso, Gauntlet, Legs, Cape and Graves. The shop lists them under both the Soul Reaper and Bone Reaper names. The mount appears as the Hellfire Stallion in the update log and as the Demonflame Stallion in the shop, where it is described as a legendary spectral steed. In both cases, it is a black skeletal horse wreathed in flame.

Dullahan, Soul Reaper Spectre and Bone Reaper armor sets

Beyond the smaller accessories (Witch’s Hat, Cursed Crows, which float around your character, Eye Patch of Souls and Batwing Mantle), Update 42 adds three full outfits. Each has its own look.

Dullahan set. Dullahan’s Head, Armor, Gauntlets and Bottoms come from the boss. Together they create a headless knight look, with a flaming jack-o’-lantern in place of a head.

Halloween titles and their bonuses

Three titles reward long-term grinding in the event. Each gives stat bonuses rather than being purely cosmetic:

TitleRequirementBonus
The Headless (Purple)Defeat Dullahan 25 times+5% Weapon Damage, -5% Weapon Cooldown, +4% Melee Damage, +3% CE Damage
The Hoarder (Yellow)Collect 1,000 Halloween Collectibles+10% chest drop chance
Lord of Lost Souls (Black)Defeat 1,000 Halloween NPCs+4% CE Damage, +1% CE Regen, +3% Melee Damage

The Headless gives the largest bonuses, and it also overlaps with progress you will make anyway. Twenty-five Dullahan kills come to 1,000 Pumpkins, enough for the sword plus several accessories, assuming you meet the damage threshold each time. Update 42 is labeled Halloween Part 1, which suggests more is coming. No release date for a second part has been confirmed.
