Legacy Piece: How to Unlock Yhwach and The Almighty

Every requirement for the Quincy race, the Yhwach style, and the endgame Almighty transformation, in the order you need them.

Every requirement for the Quincy race, the Yhwach style, and the endgame Almighty transformation, in the order you need them.

Yhwach is the longest unlock chain in Legacy Piece, and almost none of it is optional. You need the Quincy race before you can touch the style, you need five Sternritter bosses before Yhwach will spawn, and you need Yhwach dead before The Almighty questline will even open. Here’s the whole chain, in the order the game actually enforces it.

Quick answer: Farm 250 Reishi Fragments, switch to Human and kill 500 Quincy Soldiers to become a Quincy, clear all five Sternritter bosses for Schrifts, defeat Yhwach for the Quincy King’s Soul, then inscribe two of each Schrift plus the Soul at the Quincy Herald to unlock the Yhwach style.

Yhwach unlock requirements in Legacy Piece

Everything below happens at Quincy Castle or on the surrounding island, and the Quincy Herald NPC is the hub for all of it. Check the full cost list before you start grinding, because a few of the requirements reset per server.

How to unlock the Quincy race

Teleport to Quincy Castle and find the Quincy Herald NPC. This is the vendor that handles the race unlock, the Schrift inscription, and the later style requirements, so it’s worth remembering where it stands.
Farm the Quincy mobs around the island until you have 250 Reishi Fragments. Fragments are the currency for the entire chain, including the Sternritter summons later, so overshooting the 250 is not wasted effort.
Switch to the Human race and accept the Quincy Ascension quest. The quest asks for 500 Quincy Soldier kills, and it has to be taken as a Human — this is the step most players stall on because they try to accept it on another race.

Finish the 500 kills and hand the quest in to become a Quincy. You’ll know it worked when your race panel shows the Quincy bonuses listed below.

Letters of the King: The five Sternritter bosses

Letters of the King is the quest that gates the Yhwach fight. It points you at five statues scattered around the Quincy area, and each statue summons its own boss when you pay the cost.

Every summon costs 20 Reishi Fragments and 50 Quincy Soldier kills, and those kills are counted per server. Server hop mid-run and the counter starts over, so plan to clear as many statues as you can in one sitting.

  • Gremmy Thoumeaux
  • Askin Nakk Le Vaar
  • Bambietta Basterbine
  • Jugram Haschwalth
  • As Nodt

These bosses are where Schrifts come from, and you need two of every letter for the style, not one. Expect to re-summon several of them even after the quest itself is complete.

Beating Yhwach, The Quincy King

Clear all five Sternritters and Yhwach, The Quincy King spawns for the Successor of the Quincy King stage. He is the only source of the Quincy King’s Soul, which is the single hard-gated item in the whole style unlock.

His drop table also covers the rarer materials you’ll be asked for later, including the Wandenreich Sigil, the Sovereign’s Crown Shard and the Emperor’s Reishi Heart. If you plan to chase The Almighty, don’t sell any of them.

Inscribing Schrifts to unlock the Yhwach style

Open your backpack and count your Schrifts. You need two copies each of Schrift B — The Balance, Schrift D — The Deathdealing, Schrift E — The Explode, Schrift F — The Fear, and Schrift V — The Visionary.

Confirm you’re holding one Quincy King’s Soul. Without it, the inscription option stays locked no matter how many Schrifts you’ve stacked.
Return to the Quincy Herald and inscribe the Schrifts. The Yhwach style is granted on the spot and appears in your style list, ready to equip.

Yhwach’s moveset and Royal Command summons

The base kit leans on Reishi attacks and mobility, with Reishi Slash as the bread-and-butter damage and Sankt Zwinger covering space. Sankt Bogen, Hirenkyaku, Reishi Droidsword and Sankt Altar round out the rest of the bar.

Royal Command is the one that changes how the style plays. It summons a Sternritter to fight alongside you, pulled from the same five letters you inscribed.

The Almighty transformation questline

The Almighty is not a drop and it is not bought outright. It’s a multi-part endgame questline split into four stages named 900 Years, 90 Years, 9 Years and 9 Days, and you only get access once the Yhwach style is already unlocked.

Each stage layers on more of the same grind: rare boss drops, shards, and a money cost on top. Blood of the Almighty is the item tied to the transformation itself, and the Sovereign’s Crown Shard and Emperor’s Reishi Heart from the Yhwach fight feed into the requirements.

Note: there’s no shortcut here. If you’re short on a material, the fix is another Yhwach clear rather than a vendor purchase.

Why the unlock doesn’t trigger

There are only a handful of reasons the chain stalls, and all of them are requirement checks rather than bugs.

  • The Quincy Ascension quest won’t appear unless you’re on the Human race when you talk to the Herald.
  • Sternritter statues won’t activate without both 20 Reishi Fragments and 50 Quincy Soldier kills in the server you’re currently in.
  • Yhwach will not spawn until all five Sternritters have been defeated.
  • The inscription fails with only one of each Schrift — the Herald wants two of every letter.
  • The Almighty questline stays closed until the Yhwach style is on your account.

The realistic way to approach this is to treat Reishi Fragments and Quincy Soldier kills as the bottleneck, not the bosses. Bank far more fragments than the 250 you need for the race, stay in one server while you work through the statues, and the rest of the chain is mostly a matter of repeating the Yhwach fight until the material list clears itself.
