Amanda Waller doesn’t do small talk. The Suicide Squad introduction opens with Rick Flag lounging in a white chair outside Arkham Asylum, sipping a drink next to a yellow and black van, until his phone rings and the assignment lands. Waller tells him to stop messing around, because there are clowns in Gotham who need to be shown who’s boss. Flag tosses the cup, says “Roger that,” and starts calling names.
Quick answer: Waller orders Flag to break out Task Force X. The main lineup is Deadshot, Katana, Captain Boomerang, Mongal, and King Shark, followed by a “B squad” headed by an annoyed Deathstroke.
Task Force X roster in the LEGO Batman introduction
Flag splits the team into two groups on the spot. The first five get a proper roll call as the hangar doors open, with Captain Boomerang taking the opportunity to throw a banana.

| Character | Group |
|---|---|
| Deadshot | Main lineup |
| Katana | Main lineup |
| Captain Boomerang | Main lineup |
| Mongal | Main lineup |
| King Shark | Main lineup |
| Deathstroke | B squad |
| Polka-Dot Man | B squad |
| Harley Quinn | B squad |
| Killer Croc | B squad |
| Bronze Tiger | B squad |
| Copperhead | B squad |
| Ratcatcher | B squad |
The second group is where the joke lands. Flag gestures at the rest and calls them the B squad, Deathstroke immediately objects, and Polka-Dot Man answers the argument by flinging his dots at him, where they stick and spark.

It’s just logistics. The letter B is irrelevant. I think.

The whole thing runs under a minute and is pre-rendered, so there’s nothing to control here. It’s a straight introduction scene, staged in front of Arkham Asylum with a military transport waiting in the background.
The scene closes with the two groups moving together across the airfield toward a twin-rotor transport helicopter, then fades to black. No mission briefing, no target confirmation on screen, just the team loading up.

Why Task Force X gets deployed in Mayhem Mode
Waller’s remark about clowns matters: in the Mayhem Collection for LEGO Batman: The Legacy of the Dark Knight, The Joker and Harley Quinn escape Arkham Asylum, and they become playable. Mayhem Mode sends the pair through repeatable, time-limited runs in a locked-down North Island, then lets them return to a customisable Funhouse hideout on Amusement Mile.
While the timer runs, the two of them can rob shops, smash ATMs, spray graffiti, steal vehicles, and brawl with A.R.G.U.S. agents. Task Force X is the response to all of that. The squad turns up looking for a fight and to drag both villains back to Arkham.

Several squad members also appear elsewhere in the expansion’s pre-release footage, including Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Bronze Tiger, King Shark, and Polka-Dot Man, alongside Amanda Waller, the Mad Hatter, and Poison Ivy.
How to get the Mayhem Collection
The Mayhem Collection arrived on September 18, 2026, and it is the first and so far only confirmed DLC for LEGO Batman: The Legacy of the Dark Knight. Access depends entirely on which edition you own.
- Deluxe Edition owners get it automatically on their platform, with no extra purchase.
- Standard Edition owners need the Deluxe Edition Upgrade, priced at £21.99 / $24.99 / €24.99 on each platform’s store.
- That upgrade also bundles the three existing Legacy Collection content packs.
The game also landed on Nintendo Switch 2 the same day, and its Deluxe Edition there ships with an exclusive Batman minifigure.
Only The Joker and Harley Quinn are confirmed playable in the Mayhem Collection, so Task Force X shows up as opposition rather than as characters you take control of.
The Squad level in LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham
This isn’t the first time the team has had its own slice of a LEGO Batman game. Beyond Gotham’s Squad DLC put you in direct control of Task Force X inside Belle Reve, with Amanda Waller narrating over the intercom while the prison sits under a code red attack.
The cell block is where Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, El Diablo, and Katana initially appear. Deadshot examines the central security terminal to begin a colour-matching minigame; enter the correct sequence to unlock three cells, including the one holding Harley Quinn, who uses her hammer to break cracked walls.

From there the level moves to the prison yard, where King Shark throws weights at a basketball hoop mechanism, and then underground, where Deathstroke clears electrified hazards and finishes a second colour-code sequence to open the blast door. The squad celebrates with a synchronised dance, then makes short work of Killer Moth in the closing comic cutscene.

Between the two games, the pattern is consistent. Waller gives the order, Flag or the intercom handles the introductions, and the squad is treated as a working unit with a job to do rather than a set of solo villains. The newer cutscene just adds a bigger roster, and a running argument about who counts as the B team.
