Lords of the End Times is the newest paid expansion for Total War: Warhammer III, and it launched on September 24th, 2026. It drops four new Legendary Lords into the Immortal Empires campaign, adds more than 50 units and characters, and arrives alongside a free game update that reworks parts of the base game.

The four Legendary Lords in Lords of the End Times
Each Lord slots into an existing race and brings a dedicated campaign system plus a fresh unit roster. Nagash also introduces the Host of Nagash as a playable Undead Legions faction.

Nagash, Supreme Lord of the Undead
Nagash builds necropolises and gathers dark energy to power his Black Pyramid, unlocking sigils that strengthen his forces. His long-term goal is ascension to godhood, which he pursues by collecting the nine Mortarchs, such as Arkhan the Black, and reclaiming the lost Books of Nagash.
In battle he wields the Lore of Undeath and can raise units from the entire Undead range, spanning Tomb Kings, Vampire Counts, and Vampire Coast rosters. Recovering the Books of Nagash grants him access to additional Lores of Magic. New additions to his roster include Morghast Harbingers, Morghast Archai, the Khemric Titan, and the Coven Throne, along with legendary heroes Dieter Helsnicht and Walach Harkon.
Boris Todbringer, Elector Count of Middenland
Boris defends the Empire and hunts his nemesis, the Beastlord Khazrak One-Eye. Defeating enemies raises his faction’s Fervour, which lets him develop the Great Temple of Ulric, upgrade its six Sanctuaries for permanent bonuses, and perform Winter Rites to buff his armies. As the Flame of Ulric brightens, he earns the right to recruit Elector State Troopers.
He fights as a frontline melee general wielding his weapon Legbiter and hands out command bonuses to Middenland troops around him. His new units include Knights of the White Wolf, Teutogen Guard, Wolf-Kin, Hunting Hounds, and the Celestial Hurricanum, with Ar-Ulric Emil Valgeir joining as a legendary hero.
The Glottkin, the Befouled Brothers
The Glottkin spread corruption and harvest souls to earn Gifts of Nurgle, a pool of Rituals of Decay and Grandfather’s Blessings that upgrade the faction, its characters, and its settlements. Conquered settlements can be turned into Gardens of Corruption, which produce Plagues to spread across the map and grant access to a larger share of Daemonic Nurgle units than any other Warriors of Chaos faction.
Otto, Ethrac, and Ghurk act as a single monstrous combatant, mixing melee and magic. Their roster brings Putrid Blightkings, the Giant Spined Chaos Beast, the Chaos Siege Giant, and the Basilisk, alongside legendary heroes Gutrot Spume, Morbidex Twiceborn, Bloab Rotspawned, and Orghotts Daemonspew.
Thanquol, the Grey Seer
Thanquol leads Clan Scruten and enacts Masterplans, split into Kill-Stab, Steal-Take, and Great-Smart types. Each plan runs on an interactive board where you manage an alarm meter and spend clan tricks, such as paying Clan Skryre to reduce alarm, to see the scheme through. Complications can derail a plan, and dealing with them is part of the system.
As a Grey Seer he casts from the Lores of Plague and Ruin and can unlock the Dreaded Thirteenth spell. Once he mounts his four-armed Rat-Ogre bodyguard Boneripper, he gains far more survivability while Boneripper deals heavy melee damage. New units include melee and missile Stormfiends, the Warp-Doom Magma Cannon, and the Cauldron of a Thousand Poxes, with Skreech Verminking as a legendary hero.
What the free Update 9.0 adds
Update 9.0 ships free alongside the expansion for all players and is one of the larger base-game updates the series has had. Its headline addition is Neferata, the Vampire Queen, as a free Legendary Lord.
