LumenTale Cooking and Crafting at Fountains: Recipes, Effects, and Ingredients

Cooking and crafting in LumenTale: Memories of Trey both happen at the Fountains scattered along the routes between Talea's cities. The same menu lets you cook food, brew Potions, build Bilia, and throw raw ingredients together to see what comes out. Every dish or item you make can shift a battle, train an Animon, or speed up exploration, so it pays to know exactly what goes into each recipe.

🍳
Quick answer: Open a Fountain, pick a known recipe or choose Experiment, then add at least the correct number of each ingredient. You do not need to own a recipe to make it. Switch to Trey for the highest cooking success rate before you confirm.

How cooking and crafting works at Fountains

When you interact with a Fountain, the crafting menu gives you two paths. You can make any recipe you already know if you hold the ingredients for it, or you can pick Experiment and combine ingredients freely. Experiment is how you make anything you have not unlocked yet.

Experimenting has a minimum-ingredient rule. You must add at least the exact quantity a recipe calls for. Pane, for example, needs three Flour and two Salt, and the craft button stays greyed out until you add at least that much. If your selection matches no valid recipe, nothing gets made.

There is risk built in. When you hit a correct combination, you either succeed or fail and lose every ingredient you put in. Succeeding through Experiment does not automatically save the recipe to your menu. Cook the same dish enough times through Experiment, though, and you eventually learn it, after which it appears in your known-recipe list.

⚠️
A failed craft consumes your ingredients. Check the success percentage before confirming, and never gamble rare materials on a low-percentage attempt.

Pick the right character before you craft

Trey, Ales, and Nada each have different success rates depending on what you are making. You can cycle through the party at the Fountain to compare each character's chance before committing. Choosing the strongest one for the job is the simplest way to avoid losing ingredients.

CharacterBest for
TreyCooking recipes (highest food success rate) and a few workshop projects
AlesInventions such as Bilia, repels, and several special projects
NadaPotions, dispels, and several evolution or utility items

Where to get recipes in LumenTale

You are never forced to buy a recipe to make a dish, since Experiment lets you brute-force any combination. Owning the recipe simply tells you the exact quantities so you stop wasting ingredients on guesses.

City vendors sell recipes, including BoomBoom's Fantastic Gastronomic Arena in Voltar. Out in the overworld, recipes show up as gold sparkling spots on the ground that you can pick up. You can also reverse-engineer a dish from its description, though that takes more trial and error than buying or finding it.

Lumen Club notice boards hint at recipes, but only show ingredient icons, not amounts | Image credit: Team17

The notice board inside Lumen Clubs occasionally posts clues for specific dishes. These only show pictures of the ingredients, so you still have to work out how many of each to add.

Some dishes are ingredients for other dishes. Pane, Pasta, Pizza, Biscotti, Frittata, Pan Dolce, Bruschetta, and Soffritto all feed into more advanced recipes, so keep a stock of the basics on hand.

Fountains also build the gear you use outside of cooking. That covers Bilia for catching Animon, Potions for healing, repels, dispels, and evolution items. Ales tends to have the best success rate on these, so swap to the inventor before attempting an early Bilia or Potion.

Where to find every crafting ingredient

Most ingredients come from two reliable sources. City grocers stock the staples like Flour, Egg, Red Meat, and Cheese, while route ingredients such as Grapes and Potatoes appear as light yellow sparkling spots on the ground, usually in clusters of three. Items like Cheese, Chocolate, and Milk also drop from crates you smash with your Holoken.
