Bungie’s Marathon just picked up Update 1.1.5.2, and the headline change is a longer runway for its first PvE experiment. Vault Breaker, the mode that drops solo players, duos, and trios into Cryo Archive to crack a chain of vaults, now stays live well past its original two-week window. The patch also tunes two weapons, upgrades free Sponsored Kits, and closes several exploits and interaction bugs.
Quick answer: Vault Breaker’s new end date is August 18. Log in before then to keep earning Vault Data and event rewards; after that date the mode closes ahead of the full PvE offering targeted for September.

Vault Breaker extended to August 18
Vault Breaker originally ran from July 21 through August 4. The extension keeps it open until August 18, giving players more time to test the mode and Bungie more time to collect feedback before the full PvE experience arrives. To match the longer window, the stock on some limited offers has been increased, so you can pull more from event vendors than the two-week cap previously allowed.
One reward description was also corrected. The Key Template reward in the Armory now clearly states that it grants only Cryo Archive keys, matching what it actually hands out.
Free Sponsored Kits get better starting gear
Free Sponsored Kits now start you off stronger. Each upgraded kit ships with a starting weapon that carries random Enhanced (green) mods, one stack of Enhanced (green) Patch Kits, and one random grenade. The grenade will be a smoke, heat, or claymore.
Weapon changes: V22 Volt Thrower and KKV-9SD
The V22 Volt Thrower gets a straight damage bump, along with tweaks to how its tracking and heat behave. The KKV-9SD gains a larger base magazine, with mod values retuned to keep things balanced. Here is how the two guns changed.
| Weapon | Change |
|---|---|
| V22 Volt Thrower | Damage raised from 12.6 to 14.4 |
| V22 Volt Thrower | Tracking speed now decays over the first 1.2 seconds of a projectile’s life, by up to 30 percent |
| V22 Volt Thrower | Time spent at 540rpm before heat begins to spin down cut by about 20 percent |
| KKV-9SD | Base magazine size raised from 23 to 28, with magazine sizes retuned at every stat value |
| KKV-9SD | Prestige Flechette Drum magazine mod stays the same at 87 |
| KKV-9SD | Fixed magazine mods that were not granting extra rounds |
The V85 Circuit Breaker also returns to full working order. A stability problem tied to the Prestige-quality Overlocked Delimiter mod has been fixed, and that mod is enabled again.
Cryo Hatch exploit fixed
Opening the Cryo Hatch over and over could hand out more faction reputation and Season XP than intended. That loop is closed. The hatch now gives its intended rewards a single time per match. Alongside the fix, any actions in Cryo Archive that had their reputation and XP gains switched off during the problem have been turned back on.
Reward and store fixes
Two economy bugs round out the patch. Buying Rewards Pass items with LUX sometimes failed to deliver the Salvage or Schemas that should have come with them, and that has been corrected. In the Store, some bundle items that were supposed to appear in the Catalog section were not showing up. They now display correctly.
The update is live now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. With Vault Breaker holding until August 18, you have a longer stretch to farm event currency and pull Vault Breaker Armory gear before Bungie moves on to its full PvE mode later in the season.
