Ghost Rider is the firepower pick of the Samurai Outriders squad in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, and he plays nothing like a rushdown brawler. Robbie Reyes fights from a distance with burning chains, a scythe, and hellfire, and everything he does feeds a single meter that decides whether he is dominating or standing helpless. That meter is the Vengeance Gauge, and learning to ride it is the whole character.
Quick answer: Use Skills to build the Vengeance Gauge into the Red Zone for maximum damage, then spend it with Penance Driver, Revelator Chain, Hell Throttle, your Super, or your Ultimate before it maxes out and triggers Overheat, which freezes you and locks out Skills.
How the Vengeance Gauge works
The Vengeance Gauge is unique to Ghost Rider. Every fire-based Skill you throw adds to it, and the more it fills, the stronger those Skills become. It climbs through three stages, and the color tells you exactly where you stand.
| Stage | Color | Effect on Skills |
|---|---|---|
| Zone 1 | White | Standard Skill output. |
| Zone 2 | Yellow | Skills gain extra hits and damage. |
| Red Zone | Red | Every Skill fires its most powerful version, beating even the Heavy input, and the gauge auto-fills instead of draining. |
The gauge also decreases on its own over time, and it drops when you use certain Skills or his Unique moves. In the Red Zone the rules flip: using any Skill causes the gauge to keep rising automatically until you exit the zone, which is what pushes you toward the danger point.
Note: Red Zone is where you want to live for most of a round, because that is when your damage peaks. The trade-off is that you have to actively burn the gauge back down or the meter will fill to the top.

If the Vengeance Gauge hits maximum, Ghost Rider enters Overheat. He cannot move for a short time and cannot use any Skills until the gauge falls all the way back to Zone 1. Against a competent opponent that pause is a free punish, so treat a maxed gauge as a loss of the round waiting to happen.
You have several ways to spend the meter before it reaches the top. Keep at least one of these ready whenever you are deep in the Red Zone.
| Move | Effect on the gauge |
|---|---|
| Revelator Chain | Drains the gauge with each attack; hold the button for more hits. |
| Hell Throttle | Greatly depletes the gauge and hits the area around Ghost Rider. |
| Penance Driver (on hit) | Depletes the gauge when it connects; increases it if it whiffs. |
| Inferno Engine (Super) | Spends some gauge on activation. |
| Eternal Damnation (Ultimate) | Spends some gauge on activation. |
| Member Switch | Reduces the gauge in addition to natural drain. |
Ghost Rider’s abilities
Robbie’s kit splits into Skills that build the gauge, Uniques that drain it, and two big supers that punctuate a combo. Here is what each move does.
| Ability | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Hellfire | Skill (Air OK) | Breathes fire in front of him; the air version angles downward. Builds the gauge and gains hits at higher levels. |
| Penance Driver | Skill | Grabs the opponent and slams them with Hell Ride. Drains the gauge on hit, builds it on a miss. |
| Judgement Cradle | Skill (Air OK) | Long-range chain swing that covers the screen; the final hit causes Break. The grounded version has a follow-up mixup and builds the gauge. |
| Hell Scorcher | Skill | Plants a field of flames. Different inputs hit at mid or long range, and some versions track the opponent’s position. |
| Revelator Chain | Unique (Hold/Air OK) | Close-to-mid chain flurry that drains the gauge per hit and can cancel into other Skills on contact. |
| Hell Throttle | Unique | Wraps Ghost Rider in flames for an area hit; heavily drains the gauge and helps dodge projectiles. |
| Inferno Engine | Super Skill | Launches Hell Ride at the opponent for a hit-and-run; spends gauge. |
| Eternal Damnation | Ultimate Skill | Chains pull the opponent in, then his car finishes them off; the far edge converts into a throw. |
Judgement Cradle is his farthest-reaching tool and the backbone of his zoning. Penance Driver is short range and doubles as your reliable gauge dump when it lands. His iconic Penance Stare shows up during the Tokon Assemble, when Ghost Rider takes over the point position.
Best Ghost Rider combos
Light attack string into Tokon Assemble
Standing in front of the opponent and chaining Light attacks is the cleanest starter. The third Light hit uses the chain, which pushes the enemy back and resets you to your preferred spacing. Cap it with Tokon Assemble to pull in a teammate for a burst of bonus damage.
Medium and Heavy string for gauge building
Medium and Heavy combos end their third hit with hellfire damage. That makes them your everyday way to feed the Vengeance Gauge while still applying pressure, so lean on them when you want to climb toward the Red Zone.
Inferno Engine (Super Skill)
Inferno Engine summons his car for a heavy hit and drains a chunk of the Vengeance Gauge at the same time. That dual purpose makes it a strong combo ender when the meter is running hot and you need to shed some before Overheat.

Eternal Damnation (Ultimate Skill)
Eternal Damnation costs 100 gauge and is your round-ending finisher. Robbie reels the opponent in with his chains for two hits, then crashes into them with his car. It also spends some of the Vengeance Gauge, so it doubles as a pressure-relief valve on a maxed meter.
How to play Ghost Rider effectively
Ghost Rider is at his best from mid-to-far range. His chains reach where most characters cannot, so your job is to hold that space and refuse to be dragged into a close-quarters scramble. Revelator Chain and Hellfire are your spacing tools; use them to keep the opponent parked at the distance you want.

The habit that separates a good Ghost Rider from a bad one is constant gauge awareness. Every Skill fills the meter, Red Zone is where your damage spikes, and the moment it tops out you are stunned and defenseless. Keep the gauge red when you can, and drop Penance Driver, a Unique, or a Super the instant you sense Overheat coming. Manage that balance and Robbie punishes opponents from a range they can rarely answer.
