Mojang is rolling out two new cosmetic capes for Minecraft tied to TwitchCon Europe 2026 in Rotterdam. The Crafter Cape goes to people physically at the event, while the Builder Cape is the consolation prize that the rest of the player base can earn from home by watching Twitch streams.

What the two capes are
Both capes were announced by the official Minecraft account on April 21, 2026, with a follow-up confirmation on May 19 detailing the two earning paths. Visually, they share the same layout: a tool sitting on top of a crafting table background, echoing the promotional art used for the Minecraft movie sequel.
The Crafter Cape shows an iron pickaxe oriented right-side up on a crafting table. The Builder Cape uses the same crafting table backdrop with the pickaxe flipped. They are designed as a matched pair, and one will be noticeably rarer than the other because of how it's distributed.
| Cape | How to earn | Where | Rarity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crafter Cape | In-person attendance code | TwitchCon Europe 2026, Rotterdam | Legendary (Bedrock) |
| Builder Cape | Twitch Drop from watching partnered creators | Twitch streams during the event | More widely available |
How to get the Crafter Cape
The Crafter Cape is locked behind physical attendance. Codes are handed out to badge holders on the show floor at TwitchCon Europe 2026, which runs May 30–31, 2026, in Rotterdam. There is no remote or online substitute, and the code distribution window closes when the event ends.

Step 1: Buy a TwitchCon Europe 2026 badge and travel to the Rotterdam Ahoy convention center on May 30 or 31, 2026. Standard event entry is required to access the Minecraft activation.
Step 2: Visit the Minecraft area on the show floor during the event. Staff distribute redemption codes to attendees there, typically as a physical card.
Step 3: Redeem the code at minecraft.net/redeem while signed in to the Microsoft account you use for Minecraft. The cape attaches to that account and will be available in both Java and Bedrock once redeemed.
Step 4: Open Minecraft, go to the skin or character customization screen, and equip the cape. In Bedrock, it appears under your Dressing Room cape options; in Java, it shows up under Skin Customization on the launcher profile.

How to get the Builder Cape
The Builder Cape is the one most players will actually be able to earn. It uses Twitch Drops, the same delivery system Twitch uses for other game rewards. You watch participating Minecraft streamers for a set amount of time during the event window, and the drop is then claimable through your linked accounts.
Step 1: Make sure your Twitch account is linked to your Microsoft/Minecraft account. You can do this from the connections settings in your Twitch profile, then verify the link is recognized on your Minecraft account page.
Step 2: Open Twitch during TwitchCon Europe 2026 and watch a participating Minecraft creator who has Drops enabled. Streams that count will show a Drops Enabled tag near the channel title.
Step 3: Keep the stream open long enough to fill the watch-time progress bar shown under the Drops section of your Twitch inventory. The bar tracks active viewing toward the cape reward.
Step 4: Once the progress bar fills, click Claim in your Twitch inventory. Because your accounts are linked, the cape is sent to your Minecraft profile automatically without needing a separate redemption page.
Confirmation that it worked: the cape appears in your Dressing Room or launcher cape selector, and Twitch logs the drop as claimed in your inventory history.

Common reasons the Builder Cape doesn't drop
If the watch-time bar is moving but nothing claims, the issue is almost always one of three things. Check these before assuming a bug.
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Twitch and Microsoft accounts not linked | Connect them in Twitch settings, then refresh your Minecraft account page |
| Stream not Drops-enabled | Switch to a channel showing the Drops Enabled tag from the participating creator list |
| Drop earned but not claimed | Open your Twitch inventory and press Claim manually before the window closes |
Notes on availability and platforms
Both capes will work in Java and Bedrock once redeemed against a Microsoft account, in line with how recent event capes such as the Menace, Yearn, and Copper capes have been distributed. On Bedrock, the Crafter Cape is tagged as Legendary rarity in the Character Creator.
The design overlap with the Minecraft movie sequel teaser art is an intentional marketing tie-in, and the TwitchCon activation is being used as the public platform for related announcements. Neither cape has a confirmed return window after the event ends, so treat the May 30–31, 2026 dates as your only guaranteed opportunity.
If you can't make it to Rotterdam, the Builder Cape is the realistic target. Pick a participating streamer early, leave the stream running while you're playing or working, and claim the drop as soon as Twitch tells you it's ready.
