The Mistfall Hunter demo hands you six classes to test, each with a distinct playstyle and a clear set of strengths and weaknesses. Some of them carry runs almost on their own, while others depend heavily on a coordinated team. If you want to spend your time in the demo on a class that performs well now, the rankings below sort all six into clear tiers for both PvE clearing and PvP fights.

Quick answer: Pick the Sorcerer if you want the strongest all-round class in the demo. Choose the Mercenary instead if you are new and want a forgiving, high-survivability option to learn the game.

All six classes are Blackarrow, Mercenary, Seer, Shadowstrix, Sorcerer, and Withered Knight. The full game releases on July 30, 2026, but the demo is enough to see how each class behaves in combat. The table below ranks them by overall demo performance, with the practical reasoning broken down underneath.

SMercenaryEasy-to-learn melee, strong PvE survival
AShadowstrixStealth burst, strong PvP

S-tier: Sorcerer and Mercenary

Sorcerer

The Sorcerer is the strongest class in the demo by a wide margin. It deals heavy single-target damage and clears swarms with area-of-effect spells, which makes it equally effective in PvE and PvP. The one real drawback is its health, the lowest of any class, so a bad position can get you overwhelmed quickly. Play it at range, keep your distance, and it handles most content without trouble.

Mercenary

The Mercenary is the easiest class to pick up and one of the most forgiving for newcomers. It uses a straightforward sword-and-shield setup, with a hammer build available if you want more raw offense. It clears PvE enemies reliably thanks to its high health and simple combat loop. The trade-off shows in PvP, where it lacks the variety and burst to keep up with flashier classes.

A-tier: Shadowstrix, Blackarrow, and Withered Knight

Shadowstrix

The Shadowstrix is the stealth-focused rogue. Instead of trading blows directly, you slip in, land burst damage on an unsuspecting target, then vanish before they can hit back. It works in PvE, but it shines in PvP, where skilled players can pick off enemies one at a time. The skill ceiling is high, and once you master the stealth game it can climb to the level of the very best classes.

Blackarrow

Blackarrow is the bow-and-arrow class built for long-range damage. It deals solid burst from a distance while spreading debuffs on enemies as you fight. The catch is its fragility, with a health pool roughly as low as the Sorcerer’s, and noticeably less damage output. If you enjoy playing an archer, it clears plenty of content, but the Sorcerer remains the stronger ranged damage dealer.

Withered Knight

The Withered Knight is built for aggression. You swing a massive sword and deal heavy damage to everything in range, and you can mark high-priority targets to pull them into reach. The key is to keep the pressure on. The moment your momentum drops, especially in PvP, you become an easy target yourself.

B-tier: Seer

The Seer is the only dedicated support and healing class, which is exactly why it struggles in the demo. Its healing and crowd control are valuable, but they only pay off with a well-coordinated team. Solo play is rough, since your weak offensive output leaves you constantly overwhelmed by enemies. If you want to commit to the Seer for launch, line up a group to play with before you invest time in it.

Which class to start with

For most players, the Sorcerer is the safest bet because it carries both PvE and PvP, as long as you respect its low health and stay at range. If fast-paced combat feels overwhelming, the Mercenary gives you a sturdy frontline class that survives mistakes while you learn the systems. Save the Shadowstrix for when you want a high-skill PvP option, and treat the Seer as a team-only pick rather than a solo main.
