Moonlight Peaks Cooking: Best Recipes for Energy, Money, and Mana

The dishes that refill the most energy, sell for the most coins, and restore mana each night.

The dishes that refill the most energy, sell for the most coins, and restore mana each night.

Cooking is the fastest way to keep a productive night going in Moonlight Peaks. Food is your main source of Energy and Mana, and finished dishes double as a strong income stream and as gifts for the town’s residents. Raw crops restore very little on their own, so processing ingredients into meals and drinks is what actually keeps your vampire moving from dusk to dawn.

Quick answer: For Energy, cook Watergruwel (110 Energy) or the higher-value dishes below. For money, brew and sell wine or the pricey Bloody Mana Mary. For Mana, cook anything from the Mana Cookbook, since every mana dish uses 1 Mana Essence.

How cooking and quality work

You start the game with a cooking station in your first home and 16 basic recipes already known. To cook, interact with the station, pick a recipe, choose the quality you want, then complete the timing mini-game by pressing the button when prompted. Higher-quality dishes require more accurate hits, and there is no bulk cooking, so each dish is made one at a time.

Quality matters for both Energy and sale price. A No Star dish restores the base amount, while 1 Star and 2 Stars scale both the Energy restored and the coins you earn. Mana values stay fixed regardless of star level. A few dishes need a Keg instead of the cooking station, which is where wines and alcohols are made.

Best recipes for Energy

If your goal is to survive long, busy nights, prioritize the dishes that return the most Energy per plate. Watergruwel is the highest confirmed cookbook dish at 110 Energy, and several other high-return meals come from the Cooking for Vampires cookbook sold at Coffee and Coffins.

Early in the game, before you can afford the pricier cookbooks, the easiest Energy dishes that use starter recipes are Violet Sashimi (20 Energy, just 1 Violet) and Gazpacho Soup (40 Energy, 2 Blood Tomato and 1 Onion). Both are cheap to make and rely on ingredients you can grow quickly.

Best recipes for money

Selling dishes is one of the quickest ways to earn coins. The single most valuable cooked drink is the Bloody Mana Mary, which sells for up to 3,200 coins at 2 Stars. Wines made in the Keg are the reliable early-game earner because grape crops regrow after their first harvest, so you can keep a couple of Kegs producing every night without rebuying seeds.

DishSale price (No Star → 2 Stars)RecipeMethod
Bloody Mana Mary2,100 → 3,2001x Blood Tomato, 1x Mana Essence, 1x MoonshineCooking Station
Eggnog1,400 → 2,1001x Egg, 1x Draculamb Milk, 1x MoonshineCooking Station

White Wine390 → 5804x White GrapesKeg
Red Wine360 → 5404x Blood GrapesKeg

Wine is not the highest per-item profit, but it is the easiest steady income while grapes are in season. Run several Kegs at once so you always have a batch finishing, and sell the higher-star versions whenever your mini-game timing allows.

Best recipes for Mana

Mana refills your spellcasting, and it does not fully regenerate after sleeping, so cooked mana dishes are how you top it up during the night. Every mana recipe requires 1 Mana Essence, and they all come from the Mana Cookbook, which Coffee and Coffins sells for 2,500 coins once you unlock magical crops.

Twilight Mana Maki31x Twilight, 1x Mana Essence, 1x Rice, 1x Dried Seaweed
Mana Moon Cupcake21x Moonfruit, 1x Mana Essence, 1x Flour

Mana Mandrake Soup is the standout because it restores 4 Mana and 100 Energy, making it one of the most efficient dual-purpose dishes in the game. If you want money and mana at the same time, the Bloody Mana Mary restores 3 Mana while selling for the highest price of any cooked drink.

Where to learn new recipes

Beyond the 16 starter recipes, new dishes come from a few sources. Cookbooks are the main route, sold by Mina at Coffee and Coffins, and her stock expands after you hit certain story beats. Digging up sparkling spots on your farm can reveal recipes, and characters like Mina and Luna sometimes gift you their favorites. Seasonal event shops, such as the Evernight Market, also carry limited-time recipes.

Sushi Cookbook1,500 CoinsMaki and nigiri dishes
Cooking for Vampires2,500 CoinsMost high-Energy meals
Mana Cookbook2,500 CoinsEvery mana-restoring dish

Cooking for Vampires and the Mana Cookbook only unlock for sale after you gain access to magical crops, so plan to reach that point before spending on them. A dish with both low Energy and a low sale price is usually best saved as a gift for a resident rather than eaten or sold.

The most reliable early loop is simple. Keep a small pantry of food crops for Energy dishes like Gazpacho Soup and Violet Sashimi, run Kegs of wine for coins, and once magic opens up, buy the Mana Cookbook and cook Mana Mandrake Soup to cover Energy and spellcasting in a single meal.
