Moonlight Peaks: How to Unlock the Cauldron and Brew Potions

Repair your mother's broken cauldron through Fiona, then brew every tonic and elixir with the right ingredients.

Repair your mother’s broken cauldron through Fiona, then brew every tonic and elixir with the right ingredients.

The Cauldron is the crafting station that turns raw crops, crystals, and animal drops into potions in Moonlight Peaks. It starts out broken, so you can’t brew anything until you finish a short quest that repairs it and teaches you your first recipe. After that, it stays a permanent fixture you interact with to make tonics, elixirs, and potions.

Quick answer: Open your front door to receive your mother’s broken cauldron and start the “Mend it with Magic” quest, bring Fiona 2 Mana Essence, and wait about a day for her to return it. Brewing unlocks the moment she hands it back with the Alter Ego Elixir recipe.

How to get the broken cauldron in Moonlight Peaks

The Cauldron once belonged to your mother, Laveau, and it reaches you by mail. Viktor delivers a crate to your door and warns that the contents are fragile. He’s right. The old cauldron cracks during the trip and arrives unusable, which kicks off the “Mend it with Magic” quest.

This is a story quest, so you can’t rush it or miss it. It triggers through normal progression after you’ve settled in and started working with the witches, and it happens right at your front door.

Repair the cauldron with Fiona and 2 Mana Essence

The town’s witches point you to Fiona for the repair. Ordinary magic won’t hold the fragile cauldron together, so she reinforces it with Mana Essence to restore both its strength and its magical properties.

Speak to Fiona and show her the cauldron. She recognizes it as your mother’s and offers to fix it in exchange for 2 Mana Essence.
Craft the Mana Essence you need. You make it with the Mana Extractor, which you should already have unlocked from helping Sabrina. The extractor pulls essence from magical crops, and different crops need different amounts to fill a single vial. Any magical crop works, as long as you end up with two vials.
Return the 2 Mana Essence to Fiona. She takes the cauldron for repairs, which run about a day of in-game time. She then delivers the finished cauldron to your house.

You’ll know it worked when Fiona hands back the repaired cauldron and teaches you the cauldron blueprint plus your first recipe, the Alter Ego Elixir. That completes the quest and permanently unlocks potion brewing.

Note: Fiona jokes about brewing the Alter Ego Elixir to change Viktor back to his human form. Giving him the potion doesn’t do that. He simply reacts the way he would to any gift.

How to brew potions at the cauldron

Once the cauldron is placed and working, brewing needs two things: the recipe and the exact ingredients it calls for. You can’t drop random items in and hope for a result.

Gather every ingredient a recipe requires, then walk up and interact with the cauldron to begin.
A menu opens listing every potion you currently have access to. Pick one, and the cauldron consumes the ingredients it needs.
Complete the timing minigame. Much like cooking, a wheel appears with a ball moving around it. Press your interact button while the ball sits inside the blue section. Repeat this for the number of hits the specific potion requires, and the brew finishes.

All potion recipes and effects

Ingredients come from across the map. Some are crops you grow on your farm, some are crystals from the Crystal Cave, some are drops from farm animals, and others are fish pulled from the lakes and rivers. Here’s what each potion does and what it needs.

Sabrina stocks new potion recipes once the cauldron is repaired.

With the cauldron repaired and a growing shelf of recipes, the tonics become a practical way to skip the energy cost of farming, mining, fishing, and chopping wood, while the Love Potion and Alter Ego Elixir cover the social and cosmetic side of your un-life in Moonlight Peaks.
