The Nochtean Gate does not hand over its Ova at the door. In Mortal Shell 2 you open the beacon, drop into the Abandoned Shrine, and the cleanse stays locked until Vrago, Solikar Champion is dead.
Quick answer: Select Cleanse Beacon at the Nochtean Gate, run to the back-right arena in the Abandoned Shrine, defeat Vrago, then pick up the Ova until BEACON CLEANSED appears.
Nochtean Gate location in Fainweald
The beacon sits southwest of Fainweald in the Ruins of Nochte. After the Bone Gate south of Widow’s Overlook, keep crossing that stretch until the Nochtean Gate prompt appears. You need this stop before the nearby Corrupted Gate will open.

High defense and the Proxima shell are the recommended setup for this run. Proxima’s Biosampler fires a hook that pulls a target or pulls you in, then follows with a lightning strike. That kit helps when Vrago starts swinging and you need a hard interrupt.
You spawn in a torchlit cavern. Move forward toward the dark doorway instead of clearing the first landing. Inventory checks can wait until you are through that opening.

Abandoned Shrine route to Vrago
The corridors are packed with long-necked enemies. They do not gate the boss. Sprint past them and keep right as the halls open up.
The arena sits in the back-right corner of the shrine. Dropping into that pit starts the fight with Vrago, Solikar Champion. If you fall in unprepared, back out is no longer an option.
Beat Vrago, Solikar Champion
Vrago is a short fight with little room for sloppy trades. He has low health and hits hard enough to end a run in a few swings. His strings come in fast, repeating bursts, and he uses a wheel-like weapon that can leave his hand.
| Vrago trait | What it means in the arena |
|---|---|
| Health | Low, so staggered punish windows end the fight quickly |
| Damage | High, so extra hits in a combo are rarely worth it |
| Jump attacks | Unblockable, so dodge instead of holding a guard |
| Thrown wheel | Comes back like a boomerang after he releases it |
| Stagger method | Crossbow or sidearm shots, then heavy melee |
Stay mobile and wait for a combo to finish before you close in. Brief openings are the only safe window. Hard-hitting weapons and Shell abilities can stun or interrupt him if a parry feels late.

Note: Jumping attacks cannot be blocked. If you hold guard through those, the hit still lands.
Voltaic Crown and Beacon Cleansed
Vrago drops the Voltaic Crown on defeat. The pickup shows as New Tarstone Acquired. Accept it to add a lightning infusion that carries onto weapons.

| Reward | When it appears |
|---|---|
| Voltaic Crown | Immediately after Vrago dies, as a Tarstone infusion |
| Ova x3 | From the corruption on the right side of the arena |
| Glimpse x1 | During the same clear |
| Gloom | Returned if GLOOM RETRIEVED shows after the fight |
Walk to the corruption in the corner on the right side of the room and collect the Ova. NEW OVA FOUND confirms the pickup. The cleanse is finished only when BEACON CLEANSED appears and you are sent back to the Nochtean Gate.
If that message never shows, Vrago is still up or the Ova is still sitting in the arena. Kill him again, grab the corruption pile, and wait for BEACON CLEANSED before you leave.
