Mortal Shell 2 The Endeavor Walkthrough – Proxima’s Fourth Shell Memory

What happens inside Proxima the Broodseeker's fourth memory and how to finish the frozen cavern sequence.

What happens inside Proxima the Broodseeker’s fourth memory and how to finish the frozen cavern sequence.

“The Endeavor” is the fourth shell memory tied to Proxima the Broodseeker in Mortal Shell 2. It plays out as a short scripted vignette inside a frozen cavern, where Proxima’s spectral form examines a corrupted ovum, finds a frozen body, and fights a hostile Hexapod before the memory closes on a cutscene with Merrick.

Quick answer: Open Proxima’s Shell Memories, select “The Endeavor,” confirm entry, cross the frozen cavern while examining the spoiled ovum and the frozen body, then defeat the Hexapod using the hand-mounted energy weapon. The memory ends automatically after the Merrick cutscene.

What you need before starting The Endeavor

You can only reach this sequence after Proxima the Broodseeker is unlocked. Her remains sit inside the Shattered Beacon in Blackridge Cliffs, part of the Fainweald region, and her location is marked on the map once you arrive at Marrow Keep. Interact with the body there and complete her first memory to add the shell to your collection.

With Proxima available, open the Shell Memories menu under her name. “The Endeavor” appears in the list as a separate entry. Selecting it brings up an “Enter this Memory?” prompt with YES and NO options. Choose YES to load in.

The Endeavor walkthrough

After confirming entry, Proxima’s spectral form materializes inside a frozen cavern. Move forward toward the crystallized structure ahead and examine it. This is where the memory establishes its icy setting and starts the sequence.

Interact with the growth to trigger the “Examine Spoiled Ovum” prompt. Proxima notes that “The growth is… germinating. It must be close,” signaling that whatever she is hunting is nearby. Keep moving deeper into the cavern.
Continue until you reach a frozen body lying on the ground. Proxima stops to comment on it, saying “It is unfair, what has been done to you,” before adding “But containment must be enforced.” Her line “Where are you hiding?” leads directly into the fight.

Defeating the Hexapod

A large Hexapod creature, glowing red, appears and attacks once Proxima finishes examining the body. This is the only combat encounter in the memory, and it is handled with a hand-mounted energy weapon rather than standard melee.

Keep the Hexapod inside your targeting reticle and fire the continuous-beam energy weapon at it. The weapon delivers sustained ranged damage, so hold your aim on the creature as it moves rather than firing in short bursts.

Maintain distance and stay mobile while the beam does its work. Once enough damage lands, the Hexapod goes down and the fight ends, transitioning straight into the memory’s closing scene.

The ending cutscene with Merrick

After the Hexapod falls, a cutscene plays showing Merrick tending to an injured Proxima. She tries to send him away, warning that she cannot keep him safe if the creature returns. Merrick refuses to abandon her.

The exchange runs as follows during the outro:

SpeakerLine
MerrickWas that really your plan?
ProximaWhat are you doing? Leave me. If the Hexapod returns…
ProximaI… I can’t protect you.
ProximaJust go.
MerrickI’m not leaving you here to die.

Confirming the memory is complete

The memory finishes on its own once the Merrick cutscene ends. You do not need to fight anything else or search beyond the vignette, and control returns to you outside the sequence. Because “The Endeavor” is a self-contained flashback rather than an open area, the only requirement is reaching the fight and defeating the Hexapod. If the sequence has not closed, the creature is still alive or the closing dialogue has not yet triggered.
