Baghead sits on a throne in the Desolate Peak area of Fainweald in Mortal Shell 2, ringed by a small group of silent followers. He asks you to bring him something special but never says what it is, which is the whole trick. The reward for solving his riddle is a hidden secret ending and its matching achievement.
Quick answer: Give Baghead nothing. Do not hand over any item. Pick up the Special Moonshine he points you toward, then put it back so you return empty-handed, and agree that you have nothing when he asks.
Where to find Baghead in Desolate Peak
Baghead is on Desolate Peak, a small floating island on the western side of Fainweald, right beside the Illusionist’s Cache dungeon. The simplest route is to start from the Gloomshade Grove Beacon in the north and head south until you reach a jump teleporter that launches you across to the island. If you are coming from the Citadel of Penance, follow the sloping path down to the lower cliffside, pass the Bloodcrused Lithopod (the giant stone crab miniboss), and use the archway as your jump-off point.

How to know the quest worked
Two on-screen signals confirm success. First, the “-1 Special Moonshine” prompt appears when you put the bottle back, proving you arrived with nothing. Second, the final conversation plays a cutscene showing your character seated alongside Baghead and his followers, doing nothing for eternity.
Completing it unlocks the hidden “Baghead” achievement, described as: “You’ve mastered nothing and this is your reward. Pretty pointless, eh?” This ending does not end your run. The next time you load your save, you will simply respawn at the last Beacon you activated, so you can keep playing normally.
Why the answer is nothing
The solution is hidden in Baghead’s opening lines before he sets the test. He says things like “some say nothin’ is the best gift of all,” “imagine this. Nowhere to go… no one to be…,” and “there’s an art to doin’ nothin’. Most don’t get it.” Handing him the Special Moonshine, or any other item, is the wrong move because he wants the absence of a gift, not the gift itself.
A Tattered Note in the building opposite Baghead reinforces the point. It was written by one of his followers, who laments, “The more I give, the less he cares… And yet he says I don’t understand nothing?” While you are grabbing that note, pick up the Crypt Key resting right next to it, above the entrance to the Illusionist’s Cache dungeon.
Get the sequence right and Baghead’s riddle resolves in a single moment, rewarding you for arriving with empty hands and mastering the art of doing nothing at all.
