Mortal Shell 2: Where to Find All 8 Sidearms (Guns. Lots of Guns. Trophy)

Every sidearm location, plus the two boss fights you need to clear to complete the collection.

Every sidearm location, plus the two boss fights you need to clear to complete the collection.

Mortal Shell 2 has eight sidearms to collect, and grabbing every one of them unlocks the “Guns. Lots of Guns.” trophy along with a separate trophy for each individual weapon. None of the eight are missable. You can mop them all up in free-roam after the final boss, before you commit to New Game+, so there is no way to permanently lock yourself out.

Quick answer: Collect Naylshotte (automatic in the prologue), Troubadour’s Lute, Forgotten Crossbow, Salvaged Trebuchaxe, Ballistazooka, Triarch Repeater, Cursed Child, and Caged Hystrix. The trophy pops the moment you pick up the eighth.

Sidearms you collect by exploring

Naylshotte

Naylshotte is the shotgun-style sidearm you receive during the prologue, at the same point where you unlock the Harros shell. There is nothing to search for. It is already in your inventory once the opening section is done.

Troubadour’s Lute

The Troubadour’s Lute sits inside the One Legged Wolf Tavern in the eastern part of Fainweald. The tavern stays behind corrupted growth until you gather enough Ova and siphon them in Marrow Keep to earn Mether’s Breath, which clears the blockage.

Head north from the Mushroom Village Entrance beacon, near the Corrupted Gate, and cleanse the growth just beyond it. The One Legged Wolf beacon is a short distance away.
Enter the tavern and take the lute from the stage, to the left of the man playing music. While you are inside, you can also unlock the Gragu shell here.

Forgotten Crossbow

The Forgotten Crossbow is in the Flooded Village dungeon, northwest of the Blackridge Pass beacon. Getting it means finding a key first.

Follow the sloping path and rope bridges down to the lower crags. Look for a stone arch covered by wooden boards, hit the boards to break them, and pass through to reveal the tower entrance.

Go down the steps, press the wall switch to lift the cage, and ride the elevator to the bottom. It collapses, so fight through the hostiles, watching for Toxic Stalkers that inflict poison.
Reach the house at the back left of the flooded area and grab the Damp Key from a box beside it. Return to the central building, open the door, and take the Forgotten Crossbow from inside.

Salvaged Trebuchaxe

The Salvaged Trebuchaxe, a sidearm that fires axes, is inside the Ravaged Hideout dungeon south of the Gloomshade Grove beacon, at the base of the hills outside the Citadel of Penance. The dungeon only opens after you defeat the nearby Bloodcursed Lithopod boss. Once it falls, enter the cave, follow the tunnels to the final room, and take the sidearm from the body there.

Triarch Repeater

The Triarch Repeater is in the Blackwell Cavern dungeon, reached from the Castigator’s Keep beacon.

From the beacon, drop down behind it or take the paths to the lower level, then follow the route north toward the cliff edge to find the Blackwell Cavern entrance.
Head into the cavern. It is nearly pitch black, so visibility is limited to a few feet ahead. Follow the tunnel to the first lit-up area, where the Triarch Repeater is sitting on the ground.

Cursed Child

The Cursed Child comes from the Revered Beacon dungeon, reached from the Sester’s Gate beacon in the Mammon region. The dungeon is built around a tower that fires a searing light, so the main challenge is staying out of its beam.

From Sester’s Gate, go up the northwestern stairs past the rolling enemy, out onto the western platform, and drop to the ledge below with the Bone Gate. Follow the path north past the hammer enemy and take the Revered Beacon dungeon entrance on the right.

Inside, stay out of the golden light from the central tower. If it catches you, it tracks you and drains your health until you break line of sight behind a wall. It also burns enemies, so you can bait them into the beam.
Work your way counterclockwise around the area and up the hill to the tower, then attack the central pillar to shut off the light. With the beam gone, pick up the Cursed Child.

Sidearms locked behind boss fights

Ballistazooka

The Ballistazooka is in the Sentry’s Grave dungeon, tucked inside the Lonesome Spire and reached from the Gate of Mammon beacon.

From Gate of Mammon, go northwest up the first flight of stairs to the building’s first level, then follow it clockwise to the indoor area where stairs lead down into Sentry’s Grave.
Push through the Ballista Head enemies to the final chamber and fight the Subjugated Guardian, a stronger Ballista Head whose shots cause explosions. Close the distance so it cannot fire, block or parry its head-slam attacks, and beating it hands you the sidearm automatically.

Caged Hystrix

The Caged Hystrix is the reward for finishing off Sariel, the Endless, southeast of The Silent Steps beacon. This is the same fight that unlocks the Sariel shell and the Clockwork Scythe weapon.

Head to the large stone platform where you first meet Sariel and deal enough damage to make him retreat. He moves through the walls to the south, opening the way into the Chamber of Becoming dungeon.
Follow him inside and fight him again. In the final room, destroy all four tombstones to stop him from reviving, then finish him for good.
With Sariel dead, climb the stairs at the back of the arena and pick up the Caged Hystrix from the stone structure near the dungeon exit.

Confirming the trophy unlocked

Every sidearm awards its own trophy the instant you collect it, so you can track your progress as you go. Once the eighth and final sidearm is in your inventory, “Guns. Lots of Guns.” pops right away. If it has not triggered, one of the eight is still missing. Cross-check your collection against the table above, since the two boss-gated pickups, Ballistazooka and Caged Hystrix, are the ones most players skip. Because nothing here is missable, you can return in post-game free-roam and finish the set before starting New Game+.
