Necromental puts you in the robes of a lone necromancer who raises the dead, fuses them into monsters, and sends them at dungeon hordes and bosses. Developer Megaclap describes it as an action-adventure bullet hell RPG. It showed a demo launch trailer at The MIX Fall Game Showcase 2026, and the demo went live alongside that trailer.
Quick answer: The Necromental demo is playable now on Steam (PC). The full game is listed as coming soon, and no official release date is confirmed.
What Necromental is
Necromental is a top-down, retro pixel-art dungeon crawler built around necromancy and minion management. You play a resurrected necromancer in a dark hooded robe with glowing cyan hair and eyes, carrying a staff. The world runs from red-tinted brick catacombs and crypts to open fields scattered with bones and autumn trees. Those areas are packed with traps, enemy groups, and hidden switches.
You’re not left to battle by yourself. In the opening seconds, a necromancer advances along a dungeon passage with a small force of undead grunts, airborne skulls, and a huge black demonic amalgam. Fighting combines staff strikes and spells you target with a crosshair, alongside the minions you’ve raised.

The trailer frames all of this with a run of title cards: “Arise, Necromancer,” “For your torment is Eternal,” and “And your power Incremental.” That last line points to the game’s progression loop. You get stronger in steps by feeding on souls, building abominations, and buying upgrades.
Necromental amalgam minions and flag commands
Amalgams are custom minions built on a dedicated “Create an Amalgam” screen. The trailer shows three choices, each with its own stats and ability.
| Amalgam | Ability |
|---|---|
| Beholder | Fires a nova of magic projectiles |
| Mothra | Calls skulls down from above |
| Muncher | Bites enemies and stuns them |
Only the Muncher’s full stat card appears on screen. It is a purely physical, close-range fighter that also produces Bones passively while it is on the field.
| Muncher stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Bone generation | x1 Bone every 3s |
| Health | 30 |
| Physical Attack | 15 |
| Magical Attack | 0 |
| Range | 1 |
| Physical Defense | 15 |
| Magical Defense | 0 |
| Movement Speed | 4 |
Your minions take orders. You drop a blue flag marker on the floor, and amalgams and undead units move to that spot and attack there. The trailer uses this to hold choke points in real-time fights. It is a light layer of tactics on top of the action, not a separate strategy mode.
Bones, souls, and the Soul Shrine
Defeated enemies drop glowing soul essence and Bone pickups, shown as counters like “+1 Bone,” “+2 Bone,” and “+7 Bone.” Bones are the currency that pays for summons and character growth, which is why the Muncher’s passive Bone generation matters.

The Soul Shrine is a persistent upgrade tree where you spend those Bones. Its menu shows branching nodes next to a Cadaverous King panel. One visible skill, Spawn Grunts, summons 2 Undead grunts and shows a 4/50 Bone cost counter. The tree mixes passive bonuses with summon upgrades like this one.

Necromental shop items and prices
Gold is a separate currency, spent at a merchant shop with “Items” and “Keys” tabs. Gear also turns up in dungeon chests. The trailer shows a skeleton fight ending with a “Birchwood Staff” pulled from a treasure chest. The shop prices on screen are below.
| Item | Price (Gold) | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Rare Scroll of Double Fireball | 1000 | Adds two extra Fireballs |
| Golden Key | 500 | Key |
| Health Potion | 400 | Restores 10 Health |
| Ornate Staff | 200 | Staff |
| Wooden Staff | 100 | Staff |
| Driftwood Paddle | 50 | Equipment |
The player in the footage is holding 4596 Gold. The scroll is the priciest item shown, and it is the clearest example of how spells get upgraded through purchases rather than only through the Soul Shrine.

Bosses and characters in the Necromental trailer
The Cadaverous King
The Cadaverous King is a major skeletal boss who sits on a giant throne of bones. He opens his fight with a dialogue box and attacks with skull projectiles that you have to dodge. The “Rise above Kings” and “Claim your Crown” title cards build up to this encounter. His name also appears on the Soul Shrine panel, which ties him to the upgrade system in some way.

The demonic tree
A second boss is a huge demonic tree with glowing pink eyes, ringed by floating orbs. It sits out in the open red landscape rather than in the dungeons, and it comes back in the trailer’s closing combat montage.

Acacius and the dungeon flavor text
Acacius appears in a cell and greets the necromancer with “Ah! The pup lives… once more.” That line, along with the game’s eternal-torment framing, suggests the character returns again and again. The dungeons also carry small bits of humor. One grave reads “Rest In Peace Jonathan Crossroad, look both ways next time,” and another says “You are my favorite necromancer.” Pressure-plate puzzles and hidden latches that set off traps and loot round out the exploration.
Necromental demo and release status
The trailer closes on the NECROMENTAL logo, with a small cloaked minion announcing, “The Demo is live now, master.” The demo is on Steam for PC. The full game is also headed to PC through Steam, but Megaclap lists it only as coming soon, and no official release date is confirmed yet. The demo covers the core loop described above: harvesting Bones, building amalgams, commanding minions with flags, and spending at the Soul Shrine and the shop.
