A rundown of the run-and-gun action, enemies, and bosses in Two Toads Team’s pixel-art shooter, plus its Steam status.

Neuromana is a 2D side-scrolling action shooter from Two Toads Team, built around fast run-and-gun combat and retro pixel-art visuals. The reveal footage follows a blonde protagonist in a red jacket, moving through ruined transit tunnels and train rooftops while fighting soldiers, mutants, automated turrets, and a series of large mechanical bosses.

Quick answer: Neuromana is a pixel-art run-and-gun platformer by Two Toads Team, available to wishlist on Steam. Its release date is currently listed as to be announced.

What Neuromana is

Neuromana is a single-character action platformer with gunplay at its core. You control a slender human fighter with spiky blonde hair, a red cropped jacket, grey trousers, and boots, carrying an automatic firearm. The HUD sits in the top-left corner and shows the character portrait, segmented health bar, and a weapon and ammo icon.

The game opens on a sci-fi setting tied to two in-fiction organizations, VARZA TECHNOLOGIES and NOVA ASIA TERRITORIA LTD. A round metal blast door labeled VARZA TECHNOLOGIES acts as the start screen, prompting “Press any key” before it opens into the first stage.

Movement and combat controls

The core moveset is taught directly inside the levels, with control hints painted as wall graffiti. Jumping is mapped to Space, and a forward combat roll for dodging is mapped to Shift. On top of that, you fire your weapon at enemies on the ground and from elevated positions.

The first combat area is a wrecked underground metro station. You push forward through the platform, shooting human guards and feral crawling enemies while the FORWARD ROLL SHIFT prompt reinforces the dodge input.

Train rooftop sequence

After the station, the action moves onto moving trains marked “AR.” You leap across cargo crates on the rooftops while shooting armed enemies and destroying mounted automated turrets. This section mixes platforming timing with sustained gunfire against layered threats.

The turret emplacements are static gun positions that must be cleared as you advance, so the rooftops double as both a platforming challenge and a shooting gallery.

Enemies and bosses shown

Standard threats include military soldiers, mutant crawler creatures, and mounted automated turrets. Boss fights are set apart by a red screen-edge overlay that flashes “!!! WARNING !!!” as the encounter begins, often while you ride a yellow-and-black hazard elevator into the arena.

The drill mech is a heavy industrial robot fought at close quarters. The cloaked enemy shifts the fight outdoors and adds projectile-deflecting attacks. The final showcased boss is a large multi-limbed machine that drops from the ceiling directly over your platform.
