Over the Hill, Funselektor’s slow-paced off-road explorer, launched on October 14th, 2026, with 62 Steam achievements. Most of them follow the game’s own systems. You drive set distances on specific surfaces, photograph wildlife, chase meteorites, collect pebbles and crates, and finish everything in Canada and Algeria. Six are hidden on Steam until you earn them. The game has no ending that locks you out, so you can’t permanently miss any of them.
Quick answer: All 62 achievements unlock in a normal save. They are grouped below by activity, each with its exact trigger. A Steam pop-up confirms each one.

Over the Hill driving and distance achievements
Thirteen achievements track how far you drive and under what conditions. Your total mileage builds on its own. The surface, weather, and music goals only count while their specific condition is true, so you have to plan for them.
| Achievement | Unlock condition | What counts |
|---|---|---|
| Many Small Steps… | Drive 100 km | Any driving |
| …Make a Long Journey | Drive 1,000 km | Any driving |
| Off the Beaten Path | Drive 50 km off-road | Every surface except dirt and gravel |
| Get Out of My Swamp | Drive 20 km through mud | Mud, deep mud |
| Wet Socks | Drive 5 km through water | Shallow or deep crossings |
| Snowcat | Drive 20 km on snow | Snow, deep snow, shallow snow (not ice) |
| Sand Surfer | Drive 20 km on sand | Sand, deep sand, quicksand |
| Enjoy the Journey | Drive 20 km in Low Range | Low Range engaged |
| Night Walker | Drive 20 km at night | 20:00 to 05:00 in-game |
| Storm Chaser | Drive 20 km in the rain | Rainy weather |
| Sound of Nature | Drive 10 km without music | In-game music off |
| Soundtrack to the Journey | Drive 10 km without stopping the music | Music playing the whole time |
| Odysseus | Drive 1 hour without going near a cabin | Continuous time away from cabins |
Off the Beaten Path is the counterintuitive one. Dirt and gravel roads look like off-roading, but they are the only two surfaces that don’t count toward it. For Soundtrack to the Journey, start the music before you set off and leave it alone until you pass 10 km.
The last digit on the odometer is tenths of a kilometer. A reading of 0199 means 19.9 km, not 199 km. Read it that way before you decide a distance achievement is broken.

Add to Google Preferences →Trail, exploration, and region completion achievements
These achievements come from moving through the map. You finish trails, find points of interest, reach exits and viewpoints, and stay out long enough to see the day change. Most of the early ones pop during your first session.
| Achievement | Unlock condition |
|---|---|
| Welcome to the Wild | Complete the tutorial |
| Dirt Baptism | Complete your first trail |
| The Twelve Labours | Complete 12 trails |
| Smooth Ride | Finish a trail with your vehicle completely undamaged |
| New Horizons | Find the exit from an area |
| Explorer | Discover 20 points of interest |
| Scenic Route | Reach a scenic viewpoint |
| Back to the Cabin | Fast travel to an unlocked cabin |
| Morning Drive | Witness a sunrise |
| Golden Hour | Witness a sunset |
| Canadian Passport | Complete everything in Canada |
| Algerian Passport | Complete everything in Algeria |
For Smooth Ride, pick a trail you already know and take it slowly. Any collision or rough landing ruins the attempt. The two passports require every activity and collectible in a region, including trails, points of interest, item recoveries, and the wildlife compendium. That makes them the last achievements most players earn. It’s easier to finish one region’s checklist before moving on than to come back later.

Recovery, winch, and crash achievements
Twelve achievements reward using your tools or treating your truck badly on purpose. Several are hidden on Steam, and some have timing rules the in-game descriptions leave out.
| Achievement | Unlock condition | Exact rule |
|---|---|---|
| First Aid | Recover your first vehicle | Use the recovery option once |
| Problem Solver | Perform 10 recoveries | Cumulative |
| Handy Helper | Use your first tool | Any tool |
| Under the Stars (hidden) | Set up a campsite for the first time | First valid campsite |
| Professional Driver (hidden) | Flip your vehicle | Three seconds on the roof |
| Back on Track | Recover from a rollover | Recover after three seconds rolled over |
| Taking Flight (hidden) | Make a jump with your vehicle | One second airborne, body touching nothing |
| Close Call | Winch a fully submerged vehicle out of water | Vehicle fully underwater first |
| Under the Water (hidden) | Keep raising the water resistance level until the vehicle powers down | Bar must hit its limit |
| Held by a Thread (hidden) | Hang from your winch for 10 seconds | Entire vehicle in the air |
| Nobody Left Behind | Tow another vehicle for 1,000 meters | Continuous tow |
| Jalopy | Destroy your vehicle | Enough damage to wreck it |
You can earn Professional Driver and Back on Track in one go. Roll onto the roof, wait out the three seconds, then use recovery. Under the Water and Close Call also fit together, because both need deep water and a fully submerged truck. If your vehicle has upgraded Water Resistance, the bar takes longer to fill.
Held by a Thread needs some setup. Find a steep drop with a solid winch anchor above it or across from it. Attach the winch before you reach the edge, then creep forward until every wheel leaves the ground. Stop giving inputs and hang there for 10 seconds. If even one tire still touches the terrain, it doesn’t count.
Nobody Left Behind asks you to tow another vehicle. It hasn’t been confirmed whether an NPC vehicle counts, so a co-op partner is the reliable way to earn it.

Wildlife and camera achievements
Animal photos only register when you use the Safari Camera tool and lock onto a valid animal. Free-camera Photo Mode doesn’t add entries to the compendium.
| Achievement | Unlock condition | Qualifying targets |
|---|---|---|
| Say Cheese! | Photograph your first animal | Any animal |
| Close Encounter | Photograph a mammal from under 10 m | Any mammal |
| Birdwatcher | Photograph at least 5 bird species | Five different species |
| Wildlife Enthusiast | Photograph 20 animals | Any animals |
| Night Watcher | Photograph a nocturnal animal | Night-active species |
| Rare Encounter | Photograph a rare animal | Egyptian Vulture, then Grizzly Bear, followed by Black Bear and Striped Hyena |
| A Tale Come True | Photograph a legendary animal | Sasquatch, Saharan Cheetah |
| Naturalist | Complete a region’s wildlife compendium | One full region |
| Noisy Neighbor | Scare 20 different animals | Different individuals, by driving close |
| Making Memories | Take 20 photos | Wildlife or scenery |
Sasquatch and the Saharan Cheetah are also reported to count toward Rare Encounter, so one legendary photo may unlock both achievements. Repeat photos of the same species don’t help with Birdwatcher. Scaring the same animal over and over doesn’t help with Noisy Neighbor either. Plan one night run per region for Night Watcher, since nocturnal species only appear after dark.

Meteorite, pebble, and crate achievements
| Achievement | Unlock condition |
|---|---|
| Wish Upon a Star | Spot a falling meteorite |
| Shiny Rock | Extract your first meteorite |
| A Gift from the Stars | Collect a meteorite within 5 minutes of impact |
| Star Collector | Collect 20 meteorites |
| A Handful of Pebbles | Collect 100 pebbles |
| A Sack of Pebbles | Collect 1,000 pebbles |
| A Mountain of Pebbles | Collect 2,000 pebbles |
| Treasure Hunter | Open 50 crates |
To earn Wish Upon a Star, keep the falling meteorite onscreen for 0.5 seconds or longer; a fleeting sighting at the screen’s edge is not enough. When one appears, drive directly to its landing site to improve your chances of meeting A Gift from the Stars’ five-minute window. Radar can also locate meteorites, but some extractions require a crew, so check that before setting off on a long drive.
Pebbles are scattered along nearly every route, and the 2,000 target adds up quickly once you stop driving past them. Crates also hand out cosmetics, which feeds the garage achievements below.

Garage, vehicle, and cosmetic achievements
| Achievement | Unlock condition | Exact rule |
|---|---|---|
| Getting Better | Purchase your first upgrade | Any vehicle upgrade |
| Master Mechanic | Fully upgrade a vehicle | Every performance stage on one vehicle |
| Collector | Unlock 6 vehicles | Starting vehicles count |
| Fleet Owner | Unlock 18 vehicles | Starting vehicles count |
| New Style | Equip your first cosmetic | Any cosmetic |
| All Dressed Up | Equip 5 cosmetics at once | Simultaneously on one vehicle |
| Law of the Land (hidden) | Blue livery plus police beacons | Both equipped together |
Master Mechanic only counts performance upgrades. Accessories and consumable tools don’t add to the total, so put all your upgrade money into a single vehicle. Fleet Owner requires every one of the game’s 18 vehicles.
You earn cosmetics from challenge trails, item recoveries, and crates. In Emerald Lake, for example, the first crate near Pavilion Lake Cabin gives you the Sasquatch Antenna. There are two places to equip cosmetics, and equipping is free in both.
- In the world, drive to the mechanic Crazy Guenther (the wrench icon), open his services, and go to the fourth tab, marked with a plus sign.
- Before a map, press Y on Xbox or Triangle on PlayStation on the staging screen to open the Garage, then go to the plus-sign cosmetics tab.
For Law of the Land, run a blue livery alongside either the Red & Blue Beacons or the Red & Blue Beacon Bar. Eligible choices are the blue liveries for The Polyana and The Marshal, The Boar’s blue livery, the blue livery for The Tinny, the blue one for Das Lynx, and The Grand Woodman’s blue livery; Das Lynx’s black livery also qualifies. A truck that only appears blue because of other cosmetics won’t qualify.

Over the Hill hidden achievements and known unlock problems
The six achievements hidden on Steam are Under the Stars, Professional Driver, Taking Flight, Under the Water, Held by a Thread, and Law of the Land. Their conditions are listed in the tables above. They appear in your Steam list as normal once they unlock.
An achievement has worked when Steam shows its unlock notification and it appears as earned in your Steam profile. Two issues can keep that from happening.
- Demo saves: The October 16th patch fixed some achievements that former demo players couldn’t earn. Update the game and reload your save before starting over.
- Law of the Land: Players were still reporting the livery-and-beacon combination failing as of October 17th. Some got it to work on The Polyana or The Marshal, but that workaround is unconfirmed.
For any distance achievement that seems stuck, read the odometer again with the tenths digit in mind. The number is usually smaller than it looks.
