Overwhelming Slash II is a Sealed Abyss Artifact tied to Goyen’s Advice — Two-Handed Weapon, the mastery track that teaches Kliff how to handle greatswords and other large blades. Picking it up adds a combat trial to your Journal that, once cleared, converts the sealed cube into a regular Abyss Artifact you can spend on skills or stats.
Where to find the Overwhelming Slash II altar
The stone altar is tucked into the northern Golden Plains in Demeniss, right alongside the Golden Gallop Racetrack. Approach from Green Pond Farm to the south and head north toward the racing grounds. The dais sits between the track itself and the cluster of buildings that makes up the small community on the eastern edge of the course.
The artifact appears as a purple icon on your minimap once you are physically close, so ride in from the main road and watch the edge of the minimap rather than the full map. Holding up the lantern with Blinding Flash will also make the cube emit a ring of white light, which is the fastest way to spot it while mounted.
Challenge requirements
Once you interact with the sealed cube, Insight 1 unlocks, and the trial is logged under Mastery Challenges. The flavor text references “the dance of the unscathed warrior,” but the actual objective is a clean three-kill combo with a specific attack type.

How you know it worked
Completing the three clean finisher kills triggers a Mastery Challenge update in the Journal under Goyen’s Advice — Two-Handed Weapon. The Sealed Abyss Artifact in your inventory becomes usable, and using it prints a confirmation that an Abyss Artifact has been added to your inventory. If the challenge entry still shows as incomplete after a fight, the most common reasons are using a weapon other than a two-handed long sword, killing an enemy with a standard swing instead of the finisher prompt, or taking damage mid-sequence.
Overwhelming Slash II is the second of three trials in the Overwhelming Slash line. The first altar sits west of Drakesfall Watchtower in Pailune, and a third entry exists for players working through the full two-handed mastery track.
