Palia: Lucky Quill Quest Guide

Hand the Fancy Quill Pen back to Caleri in the Kilima Village library to claim Renown, Dari Cloves, and Caleri's Quill.

Hand the Fancy Quill Pen back to Caleri in the Kilima Village library to claim Renown, Dari Cloves, and Caleri’s Quill.

Rummaging through a chapaa burrow in Palia usually turns up junk. Occasionally it turns up a Fancy Quill Pen, an elegant writing tool that clearly belongs to a person rather than a pile of dirt. Picking it up starts the Lucky Quill discovery quest, and the whole thing hinges on working out who lost it.

Quick answer: Take the Fancy Quill Pen to Caleri in the Kilima Village library, pick the “Recognize this quill pen?” dialogue option, and hand it over to complete the quest.

How the Lucky Quill quest starts in Palia

The quest is triggered by the item, not by a villager. Searching Rummage Piles, the scattered chapaa burrows found around the world, can produce the Fancy Quill Pen. The moment it lands in your bag, the Lucky Quill quest appears in your log with a single objective: ask around to find the owner of the quill pen.

The pen sits in your inventory as a Quest Item and cannot be sold, so there is no risk of accidentally offloading it at a store. Its description already nudges you toward the answer, noting that something this fancy surely doesn’t belong in the chapaa nest you found it in.

Note: This is a Found Item quest, which means it only appears once you actually loot the pen. There is no way to request it from a villager or trigger it early.

Where to find Caleri, the quill pen’s owner

Caleri is the librarian in Kilima Village, and she is the person the objective is pointing you toward. You can talk to other villagers about the pen if you want their reactions, but none of them advance the quest. Only Caleri closes it out.

Open your map and look for the library building in Kilima Village. Caleri’s marker shows on the map, so you can confirm she is inside before making the trip. Fast travel to the village, walk into the library, and she will be at the counter area.

Dialogue steps to return the Fancy Quill Pen

Talk to Caleri and choose the “Recognize this quill pen?” option. This is the quest-specific line and it only shows up while the Fancy Quill Pen is in your inventory.

Follow the conversation through the “I found it in a chapaa burrow” and “Lucky quill?” replies. These lines explain where the pen turned up and why Caleri considers it lucky.
Select the “(Hand over the quill)” option. That action removes the Fancy Quill Pen from your inventory and immediately finishes the quest.

Lucky Quill rewards

Handing the pen back pays out on the spot. Renown and Dari Cloves land in your inventory, your standing with Caleri goes up, and she gifts you a keepsake version of the pen in return.

RewardAmount
Renown5
Dari Cloves3
Caleri’s Quill1 (customization item)
Friendship with Caleri40 points

Caleri’s Quill is described simply as a fancy quill pen gifted to you by Caleri. It is a customization item rather than a tool, and the Lucky Quill quest is its only source.

How to confirm the quest completed

A “Quest Completed!” banner appears the instant you hand the pen over, with the reward list shown underneath it. Lucky Quill then disappears from your active quest log, and the Fancy Quill Pen is no longer in your inventory.

If the right dialogue option is missing when you talk to Caleri, there are only two likely explanations. Either the Fancy Quill Pen is not in your inventory, or you already handed it over on a previous visit. Check your inventory for the pen and your quest log for Lucky Quill before retracing your steps.

Lucky Quill has been in the game since Build 0.172 and works the same way today, so anyone still pulling odds and ends out of chapaa burrows can knock it out in a couple of minutes once the pen shows up.
