Palworld 1.0: How to Farm High Quality Pal Oil Fast

The three reliable ways to stockpile this uncommon material for Polymer and late-game weapons.

The three reliable ways to stockpile this uncommon material for Polymer and late-game weapons.

High Quality Pal Oil is one of the materials you keep needing in Palworld 1.0, mostly because it feeds Polymer, which in turn gates a long list of mid and late-game weapons. It is an uncommon item, weighs 0.2, and sells for just 30 Gold, so its value comes from what it builds rather than what you get for selling it. You cannot craft it from raw parts, which leaves three practical ways to build a supply.

Quick answer: For a hands-off supply, assign a Dumud Gild to a Ranch at your base and it produces oil passively at a 100% rate. For fast bulk, hunt desert Pals like Dumud and Digtoise. If you need it immediately, buy it for 300 Gold per unit from merchants at Duneshelter or Fisherman’s Point.

Ranch farming with Dumud Gild (passive method)

The lowest-effort way to keep oil flowing is to let a Pal make it for you. A Dumud Gild assigned to a Ranch drops High Quality Pal Oil over time at a 100% rate, depositing directly into your base storage while you do anything else.

Capture a Dumud Gild. It carries the same oil-producing behavior at the Ranch that makes this method reliable.
Build a Ranch at your base. It becomes available at technology level 5 and costs 50 Wood, 20 Stone, and 30 Fiber.
Assign the Dumud Gild to the Ranch and leave it. The output scales with Ranch tier, producing one unit at tier 1 and up to 10 units at higher tiers. Keeping sanity and food supply high prevents downtime, so production keeps running.

You know it is working when oil starts appearing in your base storage without any fighting. Assigning more than one oil-producing Pal to the same base stacks the output.

Hunting Pals that drop High Quality Pal Oil

If you want oil right now instead of over time, defeating or capturing the right Pals is the fastest route. The desert biome is the core farming ground because Dumud and Digtoise spawn there in numbers and go down quickly. Digtoise is a strong target since it drops several units per kill and also gives Ore, and it respawns fast enough to run a tight loop in a small area.

Both Dumud and Digtoise are Ground-type, so bring a strong Grass-type Pal to end fights faster. For bigger single hauls, Relaxaurus at Ascetic Falls and Mammorest in the higher mountains drop multiple units at once, though they demand better gear.

The Pals below all have a 100% chance to drop the oil, though the exact quantity varies each time.

Relaxaurus / Relaxaurus LuxMultiple drops per fight near Ascetic Falls

Many of these areas are dangerous, so a ranged weapon such as a Crossbow or Rifle lets you attack from a safe distance during runs.

Buying High Quality Pal Oil from merchants

When a craft is a few units short, buying is the quickest fix. Wandering Merchants in red coats sell High Quality Pal Oil for 300 Gold per unit. Stock is limited and refreshes over time, so if a merchant is sold out, wait a while before checking again.

The following merchant spots stock it:

  • Duneshelter
  • Fisherman’s Point
  • Wander Shop 1
  • Caravan Leader
  • Caravan Shop 24
  • Caravan Shop 25

Note: At 300 Gold each, buying hundreds of units drains your Gold fast. Use it only to top off a specific craft and rely on the Ranch for long-term needs.

What High Quality Pal Oil is used for

The reason to stockpile this material is Polymer, which needs 2 oil per unit and acts as the base material for most mid-to-late-game weapons and machinery. It also feeds several items directly, so it stays in demand as you progress.

What changed in Palworld 1.0

The core farming methods still work the same way, but the surroundings shifted. The level cap moved to 80, and high-difficulty content such as raid bosses, Tower Boss Hard Mode, and oil rigs was rebalanced around it, so an old farming route may feel different in practice. Wandering Merchants are also far more varied now, with up to 18 specialized merchant types appearing based on your base level, which means more chances to run into someone carrying oil.

One thing to keep straight is that High Quality Pal Oil is not the same as crude oil. The new High-Pressure Crude Oil Extractor pulls crude oil from the ground for power and fuel, while High Quality Pal Oil is an organic drop used for Polymer and circuit boards. Do not confuse the two when planning a build. Pairing a Dumud Gild Ranch with a short desert hunting loop is the most efficient way to keep a steady supply, with merchants covering the gaps when a craft is nearly done.
