Palworld 1.0 launches at the same time on PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store, plus PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One. If you already own the game, version 1.0 arrives as a free update, so there is nothing extra to buy.
| Detail | Info |
|---|---|
| Platforms | PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One |
| Standard price | $29.99 |
| Pre-launch discount | $20.99 on Steam (varies by platform/region) |
| Xbox Game Pass | Included from day one |
| Existing owners | Free update to 1.0 |
Game Pass subscribers can download and play the full release at launch without a separate purchase. You can grab the game or check your platform through the official Palworld page.
Do you need a new save for 1.0?
Your existing early access save stays compatible, so there is no forced data wipe. You can continue exactly where you left off if you want to.
That said, Pocketpair recommends starting a fresh character. The full release overhauls progression, story, the world map, and battle mechanics on top of new content, and a clean start shows off those changes without old-save quirks. John “Bucky” Buckley, head of publishing and communications, put it plainly in a Discord post.
You do NOT need to wipe your data for Palworld 1.0… but you should. Players can continue their existing saves if they wish, as we want to respect the time and effort you have put in. However, due to the large number of changes to the game, including overhauls to mechanics and new content, we believe that starting a new character will give you the best experience of Palworld!
What Palworld 1.0 adds
Version 1.0 is the largest update since launch, moving Palworld out of early access with a definitive end-game and a long list of changes. The cinematic reveal centered on the World Tree, which has been visible on the horizon since early access but has never been reachable until now.
New areas
- Sky Islands, a set of floating land masses above Palpagos that likely hold their own Pals and resources.
- The World Tree, the central highlight of 1.0 and now an explorable destination.
New Pals teased
| Pal | Details |
|---|---|
| Fire Dragon Pal | Appears early in the trailer chasing the robed figure; design resembles Astegon. |
| Panda Pal | Smaller than a human, built around a martial-arts theme. |
| Sky Dragon Pal | Large Pal tied to the Sky Islands; likely a Legendary. |
| Sword Eel Pal | Can be equipped and swung as a sword against Pals or NPCs. |
| Tree Guardian Pal | Guardian of the World Tree; possibly a Legendary or Raid Boss. |
Alongside these teased Pals and regions, expect fresh content layered over everything already in the game, from new encounters to more to unlock as you explore. The full patch notes run long, so the launch day will bring far more than the reveal showed.
How to confirm the update is live
When the timer hits zero, the game will show version 1.0 rather than the 0.7.x early access build. On Steam and the Microsoft Store the update downloads automatically, and on PlayStation and Xbox it appears as a pending patch. If you own the game already, you do not need to repurchase anything.
Because the launch minute may drift a little from 12:30 PM JST, don’t be alarmed if the download isn’t ready the instant your local time above arrives. Give it a short buffer, restart the store client if needed, and the patch should surface once the rollout completes for your platform.
