Palworld: How to Make Wooden Board and Unlock the Recipe

Wooden Board needs Wood, Fiber, and a Nail, and the recipe unlocks at Technology level 15.

Wooden Board needs Wood, Fiber, and a Nail, and the recipe unlocks at Technology level 15.

Wooden Board is a crafting material added in the Palworld 1.0 update. It turns raw logs into processed planks that feed into a long list of structures and weapons, so you will want a steady supply once your base starts growing.

Quick answer: Unlock Wooden Board at Technology level 15 for 1 Technology Point, then craft it at a Primitive Workbench (or Production Assembly Line II) using Wood x10, Fiber x5, and Nail x1 per board.

Wooden Board recipe and requirements

Each Wooden Board consumes a fixed set of materials and carries a workload of 10. The Nail in the recipe is the part most players overlook, since it has its own technology and its own crafting cost.

A Nail is a separate material that unlocks at Technology level 10 and requires 1 Ingot each. Keep a small stock of Nails on hand, or your Wooden Board production line will stall the moment they run out.

How to craft Wooden Board

Open the main menu and go to the Technology tab. Scroll to level 15, highlight Wooden Board, and unlock it with 1 Technology Point.

Confirm you have the Nail technology from level 10 unlocked as well. Without it you cannot produce the Nails the board recipe needs.
Gather the ingredients. Collect Wood and Fiber from trees, and smelt Ingots so you can craft Nails at a Primitive Workbench.

Walk up to a Primitive Workbench or a Production Assembly Line II and interact with it to select a recipe.
Pick the Wooden Board icon, set the production quantity, and press Start Production. You can queue a large batch at once if you have the materials to cover it.

Exit the menu and let your assigned Pals handle it. Handiwork Pals such as Anubis will run to the station and fill the progress bar as they craft.

You will know it worked when the finished Wooden Boards appear in the assembly line’s output, and your material counts drop by the amounts listed above.

What Wooden Board is used for

Wooden Board feeds into a wide range of technologies and weapons, which is why it is worth mass-producing. Common structures that need it include the Cooking Pot, Breeding Farm, Mill, Weapon Workbench, Weapon Assembly Line, Sphere Assembly Line, Production Assembly Line, and Mega Glider, among many furniture pieces.

Several weapons also list it as a component, including the Sword, Primitive Sword, Musket, Refined Metal Axe, and Refined Metal Pickaxe. No armor currently requires Wooden Board.

High Quality Wooden Board is a separate material

Do not confuse the standard board with High Quality Wooden Board. That upgraded version is crafted at a Production Assembly Line II from Wood x10, High Quality Cloth x2, and Hardwood x10, and it goes into higher-tier gear like the Katana, Lily’s Spear, Pal Metal Axe, and Pal Metal Pickaxe, plus structures such as the Hyper Glider and Large Fishing Pond.

For everyday base building, the standard Wooden Board is the one you will craft constantly. Set up a dedicated workbench, keep Wood, Fiber, and Nails topped up, and assign a Handiwork Pal so the boards stack up while you focus on exploration.
