Legendary armor in Palworld looks identical to its lower-rarity versions, but the numbers change dramatically. A Legendary piece carries far higher Defense, HP, and Durability, which is what keeps you alive against high-level Alpha Pals and Tower Bosses. Getting one starts with the right schematic, and there are three main ways to secure them.
Quick answer: Most Legendary armor schematics drop at roughly a 3% rate from a specific Alpha boss. The variants that no boss carries are crafted from 5x Epic schematics at the Drafting Table, while Plasteel and Hexolite blueprints come from Oil Rig gold chests.

How Legendary armor schematics are obtained
Alpha bosses do not guarantee a schematic. Each drop sits at about a 3% chance per defeat, so plan on running the same boss several times. You do not have to kill the Pal either. Capturing it counts the same as defeating it for the drop roll.
Alpha bosses respawn on a short cooldown, roughly 15 minutes after you defeat or catch them, or after one in-game night passes. That lets you rerun a single boss repeatedly to keep rolling for the blueprint you want.
For armor variants that no boss drops, the Drafting Table gives you a reliable path. You can convert five Epic-rarity schematics of the same item into one Legendary schematic, which removes the reliance on rare boss rolls entirely.

Add to Google Preferences →Alpha boss armor drops with coordinates
Eleven Legendary armor schematics drop directly from named Alpha bosses across Palpagos Island. Match your Pal team to the boss element before each fight, since these encounters scale sharply with level.
| Armor Schematic | Alpha Boss | Level | Coordinates |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cloth Outfit | Chillet | 11 | 171, -416 |
| Feathered Hair Band | Penking | 15 | 114, -352 |
| Pelt Armor | Azurobe | 17 | -53, -388 |
| Metal Helm | Warsect | 30 | 161, -224 |
| Metal Armor | Elizabee | 31 | 32, -183 |
| Refined Metal Helm | Menasting | 44 | 494, 82 |
| Heat Resistant Refined Metal Armor | Astegon | 48 | -578, -421 |
| Cold Resistant Refined Metal Armor | Lyleen Noct | 49 | -142, 322 |
| Cold Resistant Pal Metal Armor | Paladius | 50 | 447, 676 |
| Heat Resistant Pal Metal Armor | Necromus | 50 | 447, 676 |
| Pal Metal Helmet | Frostallion | 50 | -354, 509 |

A few of these bosses need a specific counter. Bring a Fire Pal against Chillet, Warsect, Elizabee, and Frostallion. Penking, a Water and Ice pairing, goes down faster with Electric attacks such as Grizzbolt. Paladius and Necromus are both Dark-type and hit hard, so a strong Dragon mount like Jetragon helps you survive their shared spawn area.
Armor schematics you craft from Epic blueprints
Several armor variants never drop from a boss. The only route to their Legendary versions is combining five Epic-rarity schematics of the same piece at the Drafting Table. This is also the most consistent method for the resistance variants, which have far lower drop odds elsewhere.
- Tropical Outfit and Tundra Outfit
- Heat-Resistant and Cold-Resistant Pelt Armor
- Heat-Resistant and Cold-Resistant Metal Armor
- Refined Metal Armor and Refined Metal Helm
- Pal Metal Armor and Pal Metal Helm
- All four Plasteel variants (standard, heat, cold, lightweight)
- Hexolite Armor plus its heat and cold variants
Note: You can mix the Drafting Table with boss farming. If a boss already gave you the base Refined Metal Helm, for example, you can still convert Epic schematics into the resistance versions the boss does not drop.
Plasteel and Hexolite armor from Oil Rig chests
The endgame armor tiers appear as loot rather than boss rewards. Plasteel schematics come from Oil Rig gold chests, and the Hexolite line is tied to the Feybreak Oil Rig. Drop rates from these chests are low, so expect multiple raids before a piece appears.
| Armor Schematic | Source |
|---|---|
| Plasteel Armor | Oil Rig gold chests |
| Plasteel Helmet | Oil Rig gold chests |
| Heat Resistant Plasteel Armor | Oil Rig gold chests |
| Cold Resistant Plasteel Armor | Oil Rig gold chests |
| Lightweight Plasteel Armor | Oil Rig gold chests |
| Hexolite Helmet | Feybreak Oil Rig gold chests |
| Hexolite Armor | Feybreak Oil Rig gold chests |
| Heat Resistant Hexolite Armor | Feybreak Oil Rig gold chests |
| Cold Resistant Hexolite Armor | Feybreak Oil Rig gold chests |

As a reference for how much these upgrades matter, the Legendary Hexolite Armor pushes Defense to 754 (up from 580), HP to 2,275 (up from 1,750), and Durability to 80,000 (up from 20,000) versus its common counterpart. Every stat is a straight improvement.
Ancient armor from relic recycling
The Ancient armor set, including its heat, cold, and lightweight variants plus the matching helm, is not a boss or Oil Rig drop. You obtain these schematics by recycling Ancient Relics, ideally Glistening Ancient Relics, which drop from Pals in the World Tree area. Build the Ancient Relic Recycler first, then feed it relics to roll for the blueprints.
Crafting a Legendary armor piece

You will know it worked when the Legendary armor appears in the workbench craft list and, after crafting, in your inventory as a distinct high-stat item. One common pitfall: if you move the schematic out of your inventory, the matching item disappears from the workbench menu, so keep it on you until the craft is done.
With the boss coordinates mapped, the Epic-to-Legendary craft path in place, and the Oil Rig loot pool covered, you have every route to complete the full Legendary armor collection in Palworld.
