Paralives, the indie life simulation game from Paralives Studio, ships on both Windows and macOS through Steam when it launches in Early Access. Mac support is native, but it's restricted to Apple Silicon hardware — Intel-based Macs are not on the compatibility list.
Mac system requirements for Paralives
The developer published the macOS specifications alongside the Windows ones. The requirements call out an Apple processor specifically, which rules out older Intel-based MacBooks, iMacs, and Mac minis.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Processor type | Apple Processor required | Apple Processor required |
| Operating system | macOS Big Sur 11 or newer | macOS Big Sur 11 or newer |
| Chip | Apple M2 | Apple M3 |
| Memory | 12 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | Apple M2 integrated GPU | Apple M3 integrated GPU |
The M2 minimum is stricter than many simulation games. If your Mac uses an M1 chip, it sits below the official minimum, though the chip family is still Apple Silicon.

What happens on an M1 Mac
An M1 or M1 Pro Mac does not meet the stated minimum, but the game can still launch and run on those machines. Performance, not compatibility, is the limiting factor. The studio has indicated that Mac optimization is an ongoing focus during Early Access, so an M1 device that struggles at launch could see improvements in later updates.
If you own an M1-class Mac and want to play, the practical path is to wait for hands-on feedback from other M1 users after release, then decide whether the frame rate is acceptable for your tolerance.
Intel Macs are not supported
The Mac requirements explicitly state that an Apple Processor is required. That means Intel-based Macs — including 2019 and 2020 MacBook Pros, Intel iMacs, and older Mac minis — cannot run Paralives natively. There is no Intel build planned.
Where to get Paralives on Mac
The only confirmed storefront is Steam. The same Steam purchase covers both PC and Mac, and Steam Workshop will be used to share user-created content, custom items, and mods.
Pre-orders are not offered. Adding the game to your Steam wishlist is the closest equivalent and costs nothing.

Release timing and pricing
Paralives enters Early Access on May 25, 2026, after the original December 8, 2025 date was pushed back. The studio cited playtest feedback that the build was not yet meeting their internal quality bar. Early Access pricing is set at $39.99 USD, with a planned price increase after the Early Access period ends. The studio has committed to no paid DLC, only free expansions.
How to check whether your Mac qualifies
Step 1: Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen and select About This Mac. The window that opens shows your chip name (for example, Apple M2) and your macOS version.

Step 2: Confirm the chip is M2 or newer for the minimum spec, or M3 or newer for the recommended spec. If you see "Intel" listed instead of an Apple chip, the game will not run on that machine.
Step 3: Verify the macOS version is Big Sur 11 or later. If it isn't, update through System Settings → General → Software Update before launch day.
Step 4: Check that you have at least 12 GB of unified memory and 8 GB of free storage available for the install.

Other platform questions
Paralives is single-player and does not require an internet connection. There are no plans for console releases on PlayStation, Xbox, or Switch, and no mobile or tablet version is in development. Steam Deck compatibility has not been formally confirmed by the studio.
For Mac players who meet the M2-or-newer threshold, the experience at launch should be the same as the PC version, with the same Steam Workshop access and the same free updates over the Early Access period.
