PEAK: How to Unlock Every Final Ascent Cosmetic (v2.0.a)

Every new hat and outfit in the Gloom and The Citadel update is tied to one of the ten fresh badges.

Every new hat and outfit in the Gloom and The Citadel update is tied to one of the ten fresh badges.

The Final Ascent update (v2.0.a) adds ten new badges to PEAK, and each one hands you a cosmetic when you complete it. The rewards range from single hats to full outfit sets, and they all come from playing through the new Gloom and The Citadel biomes, using the update’s new items, or finishing the game’s hidden endgame challenge.

Quick answer: Earn each of the ten new badges to unlock its matching cosmetic. Every badge can be completed on any difficulty except Custom, and unlocked items appear in your passport once the badge pops.

GLOOM biome cosmetics

GLOOM is the fourth biome in the sequence SHORE, ROOTS, ALPINE, GLOOM. It replaces CALDERA on some maps and is packed with Ghosts, Frogs, and a sleep effect you have to manage.

Wanderer (Flapper Hat): Simply reach the campfire at the end of the GLOOM to move on to THE CITADEL. Getting through the biome once is enough to earn the badge.

Bellringer (Frog Hat): Belltowers are scattered through the GLOOM and ringing one cancels the sleep effect. Find and ring five of them in a single expedition while avoiding the Frogs and Ghosts.

Exorcist (Gothic Outfit and Gothic Hat): Ghosts appear in the GLOOM and you need to burn one. You can do this with a Candlestick found in GLOOM Luggage, a Faerie Light from Ancient Idols or Ancient Luggage, or by ringing a Belltower while a Ghost is close to it.

Well Rested (Sleepy Guy Hat and Sleepy Guy Outfit): The Early Worm spawns randomly on the ground somewhere in the GLOOM. Search the biome, and once you find it, eat it to consume it and unlock the set.

THE CITADEL cosmetics

THE CITADEL is the fifth biome, a vertical medieval tower filled with wall and floor traps, ladders, and swinging hazards. It rotates in place of THE KILN.

Medieval History (Knight Hat and Knight Outfit): Climb all the way past THE CITADEL without being hit by a single trap. Move slowly, watch the walls and floors, and let a teammate scout ahead to reveal safe paths.

Archery (Arrow Hat): The wall and floor traps in THE CITADEL fire arrows when triggered. Once an arrow hits you, look at where it struck your body and interact with it to pull it out. Remove ten arrows across one expedition to earn the badge. Note that Archery and Medieval History pull in opposite directions, so plan them for separate runs.

Item and luggage cosmetics

Three cosmetics come from the update’s new items and luggage rather than a specific biome, so you can chase them wherever they appear on a map.

Hang Gliding (Cargo Outfit): The Glider drops from Luggage. Once you have it, climb high, then jump off a cliff and glide in one direction for 100m without touching the ground. Gliding drains stamina, so top up before you launch.

Jester (Jester Outfit and Jester Hat): Clown Luggage spawns at random in any biome and is marked with a clown face. It now holds items like the Lollipop, Cannon, and Balloon Bunch. Open three Clown Luggage in one run to unlock the set.

Last Resort (Laurel Hat and Toga): The Ritual Dagger comes from Ancient Idols and Ancient Luggage, and this badge only works in co-op. Injure yourself until you are below 25% health, then backstab and sacrifice a friend with the dagger to heal more than 75% at once.

Rule Zero: the Starboy set

Rule Zero rewards the Starboy Hat and Starboy Outfit, and it is the longest challenge in the update. It ties into the mysterious statues and the Scoutmaster’s lost troop, and it sends you into the hidden NADIR biome.

Collect all four Scout Gems, one each from the SHORE, ROOTS, ALPINE, and GLOOM biomes, as you climb.
Reach the PEAK and place every Scout Gem into the Scout Statue at the top.
Use the Scout’s Honor to drop into the NADIR biome, commune with the Scoutmaster’s soul to free it, and return to the PEAK. The badge unlocks once his soul is freed.

How to confirm and equip your unlocks

When a badge completes, it appears on your Accolades screen and on your in-game sash, and its cosmetic becomes available in the passport. Open the passport your character carries, then use the tabs to equip pieces. Hats live under the Hat tab, outfits under the Shirt tab, with additional tabs for Hand color, Eyebrow, Eye, Mouth, and Ring accessories.

If a badge is not popping, the most common reasons are playing on Custom difficulty, which disables badge progress, or attempting a co-op-only task like Last Resort in a solo run. The developers have confirmed these are the last badges they will add, so this set completes the game’s cosmetic collection for the final major update.
