PEAK: How to Unlock Every New Badge and Outfit in The Final Ascent

The GLOOM and THE CITADEL biomes add 10 badges with their own hats and outfits, and here's what each one requires.

The GLOOM and THE CITADEL biomes add 10 badges with their own hats and outfits, and here’s what each one requires.

The Final Ascent is PEAK’s last major update, and it drops two new biomes into the rotation: GLOOM and THE CITADEL. Both come stacked with 10 fresh badges, each tied to a specific hat, outfit, or full cosmetic set that gets pinned to your Scout’s sash once you earn it. Every badge here can be unlocked on any difficulty except Custom Expeditions.

Quick answer: Reach GLOOM (the fourth biome after SHORE, ROOTS, and ALPINE) to start earning most of these badges, then push into THE CITADEL. Each badge unlocks the moment you meet its condition, and the matching cosmetic is added to your Passport wardrobe. The badge itself appears on your sash.

Progression badges: Wanderer and Medieval History

Two of these badges come from simply advancing through the new biomes, though one of them demands a clean run. The GLOOM sits in the fourth slot, so the climb order is SHORE, then ROOTS, then ALPINE, then GLOOM.

Wanderer is the easiest of the set. Reach the campfire at the top of the GLOOM to move into THE CITADEL, and the badge unlocks automatically.

Medieval History is far stricter. You need to climb through THE CITADEL without triggering a single trap. Watch every floor and wall for pressure plates and hidden mechanisms, and consider letting a friend scout the route ahead so you know which surfaces are safe.

GLOOM badges: Bellringer, Exorcist, and Well Rested

The GLOOM is home to Belltowers, Ghosts, and a rare worm, and three badges revolve around them. Belltowers matter for two of these because ringing one stops the sleep effect and can also destroy a nearby Ghost.

Bellringer asks you to ring 5 Belltowers across the GLOOM in one expedition. Explore the biome to locate them, and stay alert for Frogs and Ghosts while you move between towers.

Exorcist requires you to burn up a Ghost. You have three ways to do it: use a Candlestick pulled from GLOOM Luggage, use a Faerie Light from Ancient Idols and Ancient Luggage, or ring a Belltower while the Ghost is close by.

How to Burn Up Ghosts & Get the Exorcist Badge in PEAK (2)
Equip the Candlestick and press E to burn up the Ghost.

Well Rested is a scavenger hunt. The Early Worm spawns randomly on the ground somewhere in the GLOOM, so comb the biome until you spot it, then eat it to consume it and claim the badge.

Item badges: Archery, Hang Gliding, and Jester

Three badges hinge on specific items and traps rather than a biome exit. Two of the required items come from Luggage, and one comes straight from CITADEL hazards.

Archery needs you to pull 10 arrows out of yourself in a single run. Arrows are fired by traps in THE CITADEL, so step onto floor and wall triggers, then look at wherever the arrow lands on your body and interact with it to remove it.

Hang Gliding wants a 100m flight with the Glider and no ground contact. Grab a Glider from Luggage, climb high, then leap off a cliff and glide in one direction until it unlocks. Gliding drains stamina, so start the flight with a full bar.

Jester requires opening 3 Clown Luggage in one expedition. Clown Luggage spawns at random in any biome and is marked with a clown face on the case, so search each area thoroughly.

Co-op badge: Last Resort with the Ritual Dagger

Last Resort can only be earned in co-op, since it depends on sacrificing a teammate. The Ritual Dagger drops from Ancient Idols and Ancient Luggage during co-op runs.

Get the Ritual Dagger from an Ancient Idol or Ancient Luggage while playing with at least one other Scout.
Injure yourself until you have less than 25% health remaining. The badge triggers when the dagger heals over 75% damage at once, so you need to be low enough for that heal to register.
Backstab your friend to sacrifice them. The heal restores your health and unlocks the badge.
How to Use the Ritual Dagger in PEAK
Press E on the sacrifice prompt to backstab your teammate with the Ritual Dagger.

The long one: Rule Zero and the Scoutmaster’s soul

Rule Zero is the most involved badge in the update. It asks you to free the Scoutmaster’s soul, which means gathering every Scout Gem and making a trip to the hidden NADIR biome.

Collect all four Scout Gems, one from each of the SHORE, ROOTS, ALPINE, and GLOOM biomes.
Reach the PEAK and place the four Scout Gems into the Scout Statue.
Use the Scout’s Honor to travel down to NADIR, commune with the Scoutmaster’s soul, then return to the PEAK. Completing that loop frees the soul and awards the badge.
Step #3 Commune With Scoutmaster's Soul and Escape NADIR (3)
Face the glowing portal in NADIR to commune with the Scoutmaster’s soul and return to the PEAK.

How to confirm a badge unlocked and equip its cosmetic

When a badge triggers, it is added to your Scout’s equipped sash, and its reward cosmetic becomes available in your wardrobe. To wear the new hats and outfits, press 1 at the airport to pull out your Passport, then interact with it to open the customization menu.

Note: The two new biomes are locked into every map for a two-week window immediately after The Final Ascent went live, which guarantees GLOOM as the fourth biome and THE CITADEL as the fifth. After that period, they rotate randomly against CALDERA and THE KILN, so plan your GLOOM and CITADEL badge runs while the biomes are still guaranteed to appear.
