The map is looted on Cayman Sound, not on Petite Caverne. Open your map and look for the treasure map icon on the island at coordinates around (301, 309), with the marker itself sitting close to (298, 311).

Land on the rocky shore of Cayman Sound and move to the lower ledge where a corpse lies next to wooden crates and a barrel.

Stand over the body until the Loot prompt appears (Triangle button on controller) and press it to pick up the map.

Open the Codex under the Database tab and select Maps to view the drawing. It shows a ship, palm trees, a cave entrance, a wooden dock, and a red “X,” with the coordinates 863, 235 written in the corner. That confirms the treasure is at Petite Caverne.

Petite Caverne buried treasure location

Petite Caverne is a small island in the Punta Guarico region, marked as Medium difficulty, sitting near (864, 237) on the world map. It is a restricted smuggler’s den, so guards patrol the interior. The chest waits deep inside the cave, tucked against the wall next to a waterfall.

Dock at Petite Caverne and follow the wooden pier into the cave mouth. Cross the row of wooden poles jutting out of the water to reach the first stone platform.

Run along the wooden scaffolding past the barrels and crates, then climb the ladder structure to the upper platform. A guard may be resting on the floor here, so stay quiet as you press deeper.

Drop down from the high ledge near the waterfall onto the lower path. You can also swim through the cave water under the falls and climb the ladder onto the far dock if you prefer that route.

Move into the narrow grassy alcove between the cave wall and the large rocks, just to the left of the waterfall. Stand on the dig spot until the Dig Up prompt (Triangle button) appears, then hold it to unearth the chest.

Note: The exact dig point is right behind the rock beside the waterfall. If the prompt does not show, adjust a step or two until Edward is standing on the correct patch of dirt.

If the Dig Up prompt never appears, the two most common reasons are standing slightly off the buried spot or still holding the map without traveling to Petite Caverne. Reposition against the rock beside the waterfall, and make sure you have already looted the map on Cayman Sound before attempting the dig.
