Pokémon Pokopia is getting a big stack of new content on Nintendo Switch 2, split between a free update and a paid, three-part expansion pass. The plan was laid out during the June 2026 Nintendo Direct, and it pushes the social sim sandbox into underwater-themed territory, complete with new towns, more Pokémon, and a pile of fresh decorating options.

Quick answer: The Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass costs $34.99 and is sold as a single purchase that unlocks all three parts as they release. Part 1, Bubbly Basin, is scheduled for August 2026, Part 2 for late 2026, and Part 3 for 2027.

What the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass includes

The expansion pass is one paid product on Nintendo Switch 2, and buying it grants access to every part on release. You do not buy the parts separately. The content arrives in three waves, with more details promised closer to each launch.

Free update with Mudkip and Popplio in August 2026

Alongside the paid expansion, a free update is scheduled for August 2026 that leans into the underwater theme. It brings a new town, new furniture, more outfits, and extra monsters, including Popplio and Mudkip. This update is the on-ramp for the wider Winds and Waves direction the game is taking, and it lands at the same time as the first paid part.

Note: The free update and the paid Part 1, Bubbly Basin, both arrive in August 2026. The free content does not require the expansion pass.

Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass purchase bonuses

Buying the expansion pass comes with two bonuses, a dynamic Ditto print recipe and 30 rare Pokémetal ingots. Both items can also be earned through normal play, so the bonuses are a head start rather than exclusives.

Claim the dynamic Ditto print recipe

Install the Ver. 1.1.0 update for Pokémon Pokopia. You need this update before the recipe can be delivered.
After purchasing the expansion pass, open the main menu and choose Downloadable Content to obtain the recipe for dynamic Ditto print blocks and wallpaper.
Confirm it worked by checking your recipes at a workbench. Workbenches become available after roughly 30 minutes of playtime.

Redeem the 30 rare Pokémetal ingots

Find the code sent to you by email after purchase. Connect your Nintendo Switch 2 to the internet, and make sure the system profile is linked to a Nintendo Account.
Open the Mystery Gifts feature in the game and select Get with Code/Password, then enter the code. Mystery Gifts unlocks after about 30 minutes of playtime.
Redeem the code by Tuesday, August 31, 2027, then claim the in-game ingots on or before Thursday, September 30, 2027. The code can only be used once.
