“Build the beautiful building” is the major Important Request in Bubbly Basin, the region added with Part One of the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass. It only becomes available after you buy the DLC, and it unlocks once you hit Environment Level Three in Bubbly Basin. The request is split into several smaller tasks handed out by different Pokémon, and finishing them all lets you construct the Ocean Temple.
Quick answer: Reach Environment Level Three in Bubbly Basin, then help Popplio’s friends (Corsola, Corphish, Mareanie, Totodile, Barboach, and Frillish) through their sub-requests. After that, gather 50 Star-spotted Rock, 30 Stone, 25 Seashells, 10 Shiny Pearls, 10 Seashell Fencing, and 2 Ocean Doors, assign 15 Pokémon (one with the Build Specialty), and wait one hour for the Ocean Temple to finish. Speak to Manaphy inside to complete the request.
Start with Popplio and the Ocean Temple kit
Talk to Popplio, follow it, then speak to it again so it puts down the Ocean Temple building kit. You can’t start building the temple yet. First you need to help a group of nearby Pokémon, and the tasks below can be tackled in a slightly different order than the one laid out here without any problems.

Most sub-requests begin by building a habitat that attracts the right Pokémon. Here are the exact recipes so you can prepare the materials in advance.
| Pokémon | Habitat | Materials |
|---|---|---|
| Corsola | Basin Tall Grass and Coral | 4 Seabed Tall Grass, 1 Small Coral, 1 Tall Coral |
| Mudkip | Basin Tall Grass | 4 Seabed Tall Grass |
| Carvanha | Seaweed and Netting | 4 Netting, 2 Lush Seaweed |
| Corphish | Sandy Basin Tall Grass | 1 Sandpile, 4 Seabed Tall Grass |
| Mareanie | Swaying Flower Bed and Coral | 1 Colourful Coral, 4 Seabed Flowers |
| Cloyster | Swaying Flower Bed and Seaweed | 1 Chimney Rocks, 4 Seabed Flowers, 2 Lush Seaweed |
| Barboach | Ocean Rest Spot | 1 Small Coral, 1 Seashell Seat, 1 Lampion |
Corsola’s crop field and watermelon chain
Build the Basin Tall Grass and Coral habitat to bring out Corsola, then talk to it to begin the “Grow a crop field!” request. This turns into a short chain that pulls in two more Pokémon.
Corphish and the submarine build
Make the Sandy Basin Tall Grass habitat with one Sandpile and four Seabed Tall Grass to find Corphish. Talk to it to start a request that sends you after a Submarine Kit.

| Submarine requirement | Amount |
|---|---|
| Iron Ore | 10 |
| Sea Glass Fragments | 5 |
| Pokémon | 4 (one must have Build Specialty) |
| Build time | 1 hour |
Mareanie, Cloyster, and the Marine Sofa
Build the Swaying Flower Bed and Coral habitat using one Colourful Coral and four Seabed Flowers to bring out Mareanie, then talk to it. Mareanie wants a Shiny Pearl. A quick shortcut is to grab a Grubby Pearl from the tunnel and show it to Mareanie, which makes meeting Cloyster easier.
Cloyster appears from the Swaying Flower Bed and Seaweed habitat (one Chimney Rocks, four Seabed Flowers, two Lush Seaweed). Cloyster can turn Grubby Pearls into Shiny Pearls thanks to its Scrub ability. Once you have a Shiny Pearl, hand it to Mareanie.
Mareanie gives the pearl back and asks for a Marine Sofa. Craft it, then place it in Mareanie’s habitat and talk to it again.
| Marine Sofa recipe | Amount |
|---|---|
| Seashell | 1 |
| Shiny Pearl | 1 |
| Twine | 1 |
Totodile’s games near the Ocean Temple
Totodile shows up on the stairs directly opposite the Ocean Temple build site. Talk to it and work through its short series of games.

Barboach and the Seashell Seat
From the Ocean Temple, go forward until you’re near the stairs, then turn right and walk past the ruined tower. Barboach sits at the end of this path. Talk to it twice.

Frillish and the Starmie Doll
Before this task, craft a Dowsing Machine using one Pokémetal and keep it in your inventory. Head to the blocked-off tunnel to the left of the bridge directly north of the Ocean Temple build site. Break the blocks to find Frillish inside, then talk to it.

After you’ve helped all of Popplio’s friends, go back and chat with Popplio again before starting the temple.
Gather materials for the Ocean Temple
Clear the area where the temple will stand before you begin. Doing this first also reveals the Ocean Door recipe, which you’ll need shortly. Here’s the full material list.
| Ocean Temple requirement | Amount |
|---|---|
| Star-spotted Rock | 50 |
| Stone | 30 |
| Seashells | 25 |
| Shiny Pearls | 10 |
| Seashell Fencing | 10 |
| Ocean Doors | 2 |
| Pokémon | 15 (one must have Build Specialty) |
| Build time | 1 hour |
Star-spotted Rock, Stone, and Seashells
Star-spotted Rock comes from the red, blue, and grey blocks decorated with small stars. These are scattered across Bubbly Basin, so it’s an easy resource to farm, especially in the mining area north of the entrance square. You don’t need a powered-up Rock Smash to break them. Stone and Seashells are also easy to find lying on the ground throughout Bubbly Basin, and Stone drops from certain smashable blocks.

Shiny Pearls
To make Shiny Pearls, collect 10 Grubby Pearls, which are the brown ball-shaped objects found across Bubbly Basin. Bring them to a Pokémon with the Scrub ability and show them the Grubby Pearls. After a short wait, they come back as Shiny Pearls. You can hand over a maximum of 10 at a time. Shellder, Cloyster, and Sharpedo all have the Scrub ability.
Seashell Fencing
Seashell Fencing unlocks at the PC once you reach Environment Level 3 and costs 500 Life Coins. Each batch of 10 pieces needs one Star-spotted Rock and one Shiny Pearl.
Ocean Doors
You unlock the Ocean Door recipe while clearing the temple’s build area, which is exactly why you should clear it first. Each Ocean Door takes one Star-spotted Rock, so making the two you need costs two blocks of Star-spotted Rock.
Build the Ocean Temple and meet Manaphy
With every material and all 15 Pokémon ready (including at least one with the Build Specialty), place them at the build site and start construction. The temple takes one hour, so either wait it out or advance the in-game clock. When the time passes, return to the finished Ocean Temple.
Something looks off about the temple, so head inside to investigate. Manaphy has already moved in. Talk to Manaphy to wrap up the “Build the beautiful building” Important Request.
How you know it worked: The chat with Manaphy inside the completed Ocean Temple closes the Important Request. From there you can follow the usual routine by rebuilding the Pokémon Center to raise Bubbly Basin’s Environment Level to 5, or turn your attention to the region’s other habitats and the rest of the Pokémon added in Part One of the Expansion Pass.
