Entering the Ruined Power Plant

Pokémon Uranium spends its first three gyms hinting at the disaster that shaped its protagonist. In the stretch after reaching Bealbeach City, it finally sends you to the source. Nuclear Plant Epsilon is the quarantined island facility where the protagonist’s mother, Lucille, vanished in a meltdown ten years before the game begins. The visit introduces wild Nuclear-type Pokémon, ties the mystery to a research program called Project 092, and ends with a second explosion that pushes the story west toward Vinoville Town.

Quick answer: From Route 07, take the boat to Nuclear Plant Epsilon. Explore the ruins and catch a Level 30 Nuclear Trawpint. Then beat Cali for the Tide Badge and use the BBFerry Ticket to sail to Route 08.

Nuclear Plant Epsilon: Reaching the quarantined island

The trip begins at the Route 07 pier. Theo, your rival, shows up and insists on coming along. The boat lands at a rain-soaked dock where his father, Cameron, is waiting. Cameron sends Theo straight back to the mainland but lets you stay and look around the ruined plant.

The plant grounds work like a small outpost. A Rest House lets you heal your team and buy supplies, and Hafli Berries grow outside. Facility workers and Super Scientists patrol the yard and will battle you on sight.

Nuclear Pokémon in the plant’s tall grass

The grass around the plant is where most players meet their first wild Nuclear Pokémon. These are corrupted versions of regular species, and the game makes them look and act differently from the start.

  • They glow in greenish-black colors instead of their usual palettes.
  • They behave erratically and use different attacks from their normal forms.
  • They resist the standard Capture Stylers that Pokémon Rangers use.
  • Nuclear Costraw, Kinetmunk and Comite all appear in the plant grass.

Inside the ruined reactor: The Burnt Notebook and Project 092

Before you go in, Cameron explains what happened at the facility and gives you a tracking device. The interior is dark, damaged and full of debris. Pages from a Burnt Notebook are scattered through the corridors, and a Rusty Key opens the one locked room that matters.

Each report is partly destroyed, so you have to read around the gaps. Put together, the pages describe an experiment, not a power accident.

Report #04 also mentions a chief researcher, “Dr. ——s,” whose name is mostly burned away. Report #05 is the one you find behind the locked door, and it is the only page that names “Project 092” in full.

Nuclear Trawpint and the Stasis Tank

The locked chamber holds an active Stasis Tank. Its terminal reads “STASIS TANK ACTIVE” with a suspension timer of “10: 03: 01: 16: 24.” It then asks “EXECUTE RESTORATION PROCESS?” When you agree, the screen fills with “ERROR. INSTABILITY DETECTED.” A hostile Level 30 Nuclear Trawpint attacks. Your PST picks up its psychic signal and translates it as <KILL THE INTRUDER CRUSH DESTROY KILL>.

You can catch it. A Great Ball is enough. Trawpint is No. 066 in the Pokédex, a Poison/Psychic “BIRDO Pokémon” that stands 2.1 m tall and weighs 65.0 kg. Its entry says it uses telekinesis to block a foe’s escape, then latches on with a sucker to drain energy.

After the battle, the radiation catches up with the protagonist, who collapses and wakes up in the Rest House medical bed. Cameron reads through the recovered documents, notes the Project 092 references, and says he plans to demolish the plant.

Bealbeach City Gym: Cali and the Tide Badge

Back on the mainland, a few beach pickups wait along Route 07, including a Full Restore and Coconut Milk. Bealbeach City’s Water-type gym has raised walkways over its pools, with Swimmers, a Sailor and a Beauty standing in the way of Gym Leader Cali.

Metalynx, the Grass/Steel evolution of the starter Orchynx, fits this gym well. Giga Drain and Leaf Blade hit Water types hard, and its Steel typing resists Poison attacks from the Nuclear Pokémon around the plant. A single Metalynx can sweep Cali’s whole team. Winning earns the Tide Badge and TM03, which teaches Water Pulse.

The second explosion and the Tandor Luxury cruise to Route 08

When you leave the Pokémon Center after the gym, another explosion goes off at the offshore plant, and smoke rises over the sea. Chief Kellyn, the protagonist’s father and head of the Pokémon Rangers, hands over the BBFerry Ticket and orders an evacuation west to Route 08.

The road to the dock has changed. On the coastal bridge along Route 07, wild Nuclear Pokémon such as Tancoon and Corsola are attacking people. A Ranger joins you for a moment, then runs when a Level 28 Nuclear Gyarados appears. You have to beat it yourself.

Showing the BBFerry Ticket at the Route 07 dock gets you on board the Tandor Luxury cruise ship. The ship is a short dungeon of cabins filled with trainers and a few rewards.

  • The Captain is seasick, and a back rub fixes it.
  • An elderly passenger gives you TM32, which teaches Double Team.
  • Hiker Derek gives you a Quick Claw in his cabin.
  • Passengers such as Black Belts Gord and Evan, Picnicker Nia and Lass Jade battle for experience.

Theo is in one of the cabins, upset about the crisis, and he starts a rematch. His team is now Dearewl, Paraudio, Chupacho, Chimincal and Electruxo. The ship then docks at Route 08 – Wheatfields, the way to Vinoville Town and the fourth gym. The plant is gone, but Project 092, the missing researcher and the thing in the Stasis Tank are still unexplained. The rest of the game is built around those questions.
