The Power Plant is a mid-game auction island in Storage Hunters: Open World, packed with nuclear-themed collectibles, two exclusive quest givers, and some of the highest-value lockers you can bid on. It sits off the mainland on its own island, so getting there is the first hurdle before any of its 61 items become reachable.
Quick answer: Reach a Net Worth of $7,500, then ride the ferry from the mainland terminal (it leaves every five minutes) to land on the Power Plant island. The Tier 1 Garage opens the moment you arrive.
How to reach the Power Plant island
Access is gated purely by Net Worth. Once your total hits $7,500, the ferry route to the island unlocks. Board at the mainland ferry terminal and wait for the boat, which departs on a five-minute loop, then step off at the Power Plant dock.
Late-game players who already own the Helicopter can skip the ferry entirely and land directly in the auction area. Either way, the destination holds four Auction Garages that between them offer all 61 Power Plant items.

The four garages open in sequence as your Net Worth climbs, and each charges its own entry fee per auction. Higher tiers cost more to enter but stock the pricier lockers.

Engineer NPC and the plant restoration quests
The Engineer is the main quest giver on the island and becomes available at the same $7,500 Net Worth that unlocks the ferry. He asks you to rebuild the facility by slotting missing parts you win from Power Plant auctions. Crucially, every part you install is refunded at its full sell value, so you are never out the item’s worth.

Because the parts are reimbursed and the quest adds cash plus Diamonds on top, running the Engineer’s line is one of the cleaner income routes on the island. Win a required part, start the quest, then place each piece into its dedicated slot to progress.

The questline runs across four tiers. You know a tier is done when all its slots are filled and the reward drops into your account.
| Quest | Requirement | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Restore the Plant: Tier 1 | Install all 25 Tier 1 parts | +$500 + item value, 15 Diamonds |
| Restore the Plant: Tier 2 | Install all 28 Tier 2 parts | +$2,500 + item value, 25 Diamonds |
| Restore the Plant: Tier 3 | Install all 17 Tier 3 parts | +$15,000 + item value, 40 Diamonds |
| Restore the Plant: Tier 4 | Install all 14 Tier 4 parts | TBA |

Mad Scientist and the Weather Machine
The second NPC on the island is the Mad Scientist, who oversees construction of the Weather Machine. He stays locked until you finish the Engineer’s entire questline, so all four restoration tiers must be complete before he will interact with you.

With the ferry unlocked at $7,500, the four garages tied to rising Net Worth, and the Engineer’s refunded parts feeding both cash and Diamonds, the Power Plant rewards steady collection more than a single big auction win. Clear the Index and the restoration tiers, and the Mad Scientist’s Weather Machine becomes the island’s final objective.
