ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs – How to Unlock the Good and Bad Ending

The choices that decide whether you save Akiba or watch the mega mall move in.

The choices that decide whether you save Akiba or watch the mega mall move in.

The ending you reach in ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs comes down to how you treat the people who walk up to your shop window, not how well you clean an Atari board or reassemble a Pokia phone. The repairs themselves barely move the needle. Your responses to customers, and one key decision late in the story, split the game into a good ending and a bad ending.

Quick answer: To get the good ending, help customers, complete their repair requests, and when prompted, agree to sell your shop and donate the money to the concert that blocks the mega mall. To get the bad ending, refuse to help with the concert, decline to sell, and confirm that “mega malls are the future” when asked.

What actually decides your ending

The game tracks your interactions with the people who visit, not your repair quality. Throughout your playthrough you’ll get chances to do jobs for free, look the other way on something you find, and even invite a customer to stay with you. These moments shape how the story resolves.

Every path funnels toward the same fork. At a set point, you’re offered the chance to sell your shop and put all the proceeds toward a concert that stops the mega mall from being built in Akiba. Which way you answer here is what locks in the good or bad ending.

Good ending: “Rock For The Ages!”

The good ending rewards empathy. Talk to the people who come by, help them out when you’re able, and finish the repairs they ask for. Showing good values through your choices gets the NPCs to open up and pushes their stories forward.

Engage with the customers who need your attention. A few of them lead into deeper story arcs, and handling them with care is what steers you onto the good path.
CustomerWhat they need
Hashimoto (landlord)Brings a Pokia device to repair. Offer to work for free, then ask about the device’s history.
Girl with the EggotchiAsks for a screen fix, but restore the device’s data to learn her family history.
StudentWants help sharing his confession. Hear him out instead of turning him away.
GangsterCarries a device that could send him to prison. Don’t report him, help him start clean.
When the story reaches the fork, choose to sell your shop and donate the funds to the concert to stop the mega mall. This is the correct decision for the good ending. After you mention selling, you’ll be made to hand over the keys, and the day ends.
The next day, you’re thanked for making the concert possible. The registration claim goes through, so no malls will be built in Akiba anytime soon. Your shop is also bought back for you, and everyone pitches in to return all your belongings.

The “Congratulations on beating ReStory!” dialog confirms the good ending.

After a run of conversations where you get life updates from everyone you’ve come to know, a notification tells you that you’ve beaten the game and helped Akiba keep its charm. You’re now a local legend and can keep running the shop in sandbox mode for achievements, though customers won’t stop by anymore.

Bad ending: “Globalization”

The bad ending branches from the exact same decision point. When you’re offered the chance to sell your shop to fund the concert, you instead decline to help and let the mall construction proceed.

Reach the point in the story where you can sell your shop to save the concert.
Refuse to sell and confirm the choice by stating that mega malls are the future. This locks in the bad ending and unlocks the Globalization achievement.

In this outcome, you aren’t the hero of Akiba. You didn’t save the concert, and you didn’t stop the mall. You receive the Mega Mall Storefront 02 Rental Agreement, and your rent climbs to 5,000 Yen. This is a path worth taking only if you want the associated achievement.

NPC routes and getting both endings

Separate from the ending itself, there are three NPC character routes to follow, for Kaito, Baketsu, and Haruhi. Each route ties to its own achievement, and the stories are mutually exclusive, so you can only invite one person to stay with you per playthrough.

If you plan to see both endings anyway, pick a different person each playthrough. That way you knock out the route achievements while you’re already replaying for the second ending, saving yourself extra runs.

You’ll know each ending landed when the “Congratulations on beating ReStory!” dialog appears with a Thanks button to dismiss it and drop you into sandbox mode. The good ending is confirmed by the Historic Preservation Certificate and the notification that Akiba kept its charm, while the bad ending is confirmed by the Globalization achievement and the raised 5,000 Yen rent.
