Every released skill in RuneScape: Dragonwilds shares the same climb to level 99, and that climb is brutally back-loaded. Level 50 feels like an achievement, but it is barely a rounding error against the full total. Knowing where the experience actually sits changes how you plan every training session in Ashenfall.
Quick answer: Each of the twelve skills reaches 99 at exactly 1,000,000 XP. You need more XP for levels 93–99 than for levels 1–93 combined, so train in the highest-level area you can handle and put every gathered material straight into an artisan skill.
The XP curve every skill shares
All twelve currently playable skills use one experience table, and total XP is cumulative. The curve grows exponentially up to level 93, crosses a short linear bridge at 94 to 95, then steepens sharply into a quadratic climb from 96 to 99. Prayer is the thirteenth skill and is not in the game yet.
| Level | Total XP | Share of the climb |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | 463 | 0.05% |
| 30 | 5,367 | 0.5% |
| 50 | 40,594 | 4.1% |
| 70 | 147,842 | 14.8% |
| 90 | 312,838 | 31.3% |
| 93 | 342,568 | 34.3% |
| 99 | 1,000,000 | 100% |
The lesson is simple. Level 50 costs about 4% of the road to 99, so if a skill feels slow there, that is the curve, not you. The final six levels demand 657,432 XP on their own. Pick the skills your build genuinely uses before committing to any 93-to-99 push.

A few habits speed up every skill at once, and they matter more than any single spell unlock.
- Gather in the highest-power region you can survive. Your armour sets your power level, so upgrade armour, move region, then gather.
- Process your gathered materials instead of keeping them raw: smelt, craft, and cook them to advance two skills in the same cycle.
- Skills level from use, not from spending points. There is no respec, so train whatever the moment demands.
- Chase AoE spells early. Almost every gathering skill has a spell that clears multiple nodes per cast.
Gathering skills: Mining, Woodcutting, Fishing, Farming
Mining
Your Mining level does not decide which ores you can break. Pickaxe tier and power level do that, so a higher-tier pickaxe is what unlocks Mithril, Adamant, Runite, and Luminite. Train by looping backwards from the highest ore you can hit down through the lower nodes while the main veins respawn.
The spells carry the skill. Rocksplosion at level 11 shatters clustered rocks in one blast, Summon Stone Spirits at 24 sends helpers to gather alongside you, and Divine Rock at 80 converts loose ore into personal mineable veins at your base. Level 90 adds Accelerated Veins for the endgame grind.
Woodcutting
Axes run on power level, not Woodcutting level, and chasing scattered high-tier trees across the map wastes time. Instead, build a tree farm. Reach Farming level 20 to unlock the Tree Farming passive, then plant dense parallel rows of a dozen or more trees near your base.
Fire Astral Projection (the astral axe spell at level 11) straight down a row to fell every trunk at once, then use Splinter or a Trunk Totem at level 52 to shatter the fallen logs instantly. Drop everything into Lumber Storage bins from level 40, and by level 88 the axe spell throws three axes per cast.
Fishing
Start Fishing through the Shrimp Catcher quest by speaking to the Wise Old Man in Bramblemead. From levels 1 to 10, a Coarse Net gives the fastest passive catches with no bait. Switch to rod fishing with bait from 10 to 23, where a weight-reduction perk kicks in, and keep rod fishing until 49.

Net fishing returns at level 49 with a 75% catch rate passive, which is where the skill accelerates. Fishnado arrives at 55 and Greater Fishnado at 60, both pulling several fish from a node per cast. Craft the Angler’s Hat at level 70 for a chance to catch without depleting the node at all. Place fishing barrels or a portable Lodestone at a prime pond so you never break the loop to bank.
Farming
Farming begins with the Growing Pains quest in Bramblemead Village and runs on plot tiers, from Ash up to Yew. The XP lives in watering. Each watering action grants repeatable experience that scales with plot tier: Ash gives 15, Oak 30, Willow 45, and Yew 60. Upgrade your plots the moment a tier unlocks.
Humidify at level 28 creates a rain cloud that waters plots as it travels, Cleansing Rain at 50 cures diseased plants, and Iron Sutures at 42 boosts harvest yield. For the biggest cycles, plant a large Willow grid of Watermelons and Pumpkins, which returns roughly 70,000 to 80,000 XP per harvest with buffs stacked on top.

The Daedon Reach courtyard rains constantly, so plants water themselves there. Drier regions like Stormtouch Highlands are better when you want to farm manual watering XP by hand.
Artisan skills: Artisan, Cooking, Runecrafting, Construction
Artisan
Process raw materials as you gather them rather than hoarding ore. Overdrive at level 48 speeds up mechanical crafting stations, and Superheat boosts fire-based stations like the Kiln and Furnace. For a repeatable loop, buy Dragonwolf Hide from Umbral Sands Garu merchants with Garu chits, tan it into Draconic Leather, then sell it back and repeat for steady Artisan XP.
Cooking
Cooking awards fixed XP amounts: 10 for one ingredient, 20 for a meal, and 15 for a drink. Culinary Confidence reduces burning in stages, reaching a 0% burn chance at level 99. Put early burnt food in Compost Bins to train Farming rather than throwing it away. To level quickly, purchase Redberries in bulk from Umbral Sands merchants and cook them in batches.
Runecrafting
Choose Manual Attunement every time rather than Auto Craft; its mini-game gives much more experience and bonus runes per essence. After reaching level 34, harvest Siphoning Vents to make Pure Essent Rocks appear. Strike them for 700 XP chunks. Make the highest rune you have unlocked, progressing to Fire at 25, Nature at 38, and Law runes at 50. Law runes enable lodestone travel and the Personal Chest spell.
Construction
Construction has a soft cap against rapid building: placing items too quickly eventually stops awarding building XP. To bypass it, place inexpensive items until XP stops, dismantle them, go back to the main menu, and load your save again to clear the cap. Then repeat the placement cycle.
Rush level 40 for the Personal Chest, which opens your storage from anywhere in the world, then aim for level 62 and the Eye of Oculus build perspective with its material recycling.

Combat skills: Attack, Ranged, Magic
All three combat skills scale with damage dealt and critical hits, and the XP from any single enemy is capped at its remaining maximum health. Overkilling low-level mobs throws away potential, so grind high-health targets instead. Zogres and the Black Knight Titan in Daedon Reach give big health pools and continuous damage uptime.
Ranged rewards weak-point hits. Wear the full three-piece Ranged set for the weak-point damage bonus, equip the Inspiring Ranged Amulet for +5% XP, and eat Knowledge Nourishment food for a further +10%, stacking to +15%.
Magic levels efficiently when you weaken groups with melee attacks or a bow, then finish them using an elemental AoE staff or wand so the kill XP goes to Magic. Look for dense enemy spawns, such as the Fire-weak undead in Felhollow or the alpha packs in Umbral Sands.
Agility: passive XP and course routes
Running on foot steadily earns Agility XP, letting the skill advance as you move between other tasks. Mounts give no Agility XP, so travel on foot to gain levels. Complete every newly unlocked course once to claim its milestone rewards; after that, repeat your top unlocked option: Thunderous Assault (15), Grave Run (30), Tower Climb (51), or Lava Field (65).
The movement perks stack quickly along the way, including Windstep, Double Jump, and Air Dash. Two carry-weight passives make the whole game easier: Backpacker at level 50 adds +75 maximum carry weight, and Explorer at level 75 adds another +75.
One million XP per skill is a long haul, and the curve guarantees the last stretch dwarfs everything before it. The efficient path is not grinding every skill to 99, but building loops where gathering feeds artisan work, combat feeds cooking, and Agility ticks up while you move. Commit the 93-to-99 marathon only to the skills your build actually leans on, and let the rest rise on their own.
