Shells Traits List and Reroll Mechanics (Roblox)

Traits in Roblox Shells are passive modifiers attached to claws and sifters. They change how fast you finish the collection minigame, how often mutated shells appear, how heavy each shell sells for, and how lucky your finds become. There are 27 traits in the rotation, and you can reroll them at any time using one of two currencies.

Quick answer: Open your equipment bag (hotbar button or press 2), click the sparkling stars icon next to the claw or sifter you want to modify, then press the pink x100 button to spend 100 pearls for a normal roll, or the green x1 button to spend a lucky reroll for higher rare-trait odds.

Shells trait list with normal and lucky drop rates

Each trait has a fixed probability on every roll. Normal rolls use pearls; lucky rolls bias the table toward stronger outcomes, which is why top-tier traits like Celestial, Transcendent, Rake, and All or Nothing roughly double in chance under lucky rolls. The full table sorted from highest to lowest normal drop rate is below.

How pearl rerolls work in Shells

Pearls are the standard reroll currency. You earn them from quests, level-up rewards, redeemed codes, and special chests handed out during admin events. Pearl bundles are also sold in the in-game shop for Robux if you want to skip the grind.

Step 1: Open the equipment bag. Press 2 on your keyboard, or click the bag button on the hotbar.

Step 2: Select the tool you want to modify. Find the claw or sifter you plan to keep long-term and click the sparkling stars icon next to it. Avoid rerolling tools you will soon replace.

Step 3: Spend 100 pearls per roll. Click the pink x100 button. A new trait is drawn from the normal drop table immediately and overwrites whatever is in the active slot, so move any keeper trait into a saved slot first.

How lucky rerolls work in Shells

Lucky rerolls (sometimes called clovers) shift the probability table toward rarer outcomes. They are not for sale in unlimited stacks, so they only show up from special quest rewards, time-limited events, codes, or limited Robux purchases.

Step 1: Open the equipment bag from the hotbar or by pressing 2.

Step 2: Click the sparkling stars icon beside the claw or sifter you want to roll on.

Step 3: Spend one lucky reroll. Click the green x1 button to consume a single lucky roll. The result uses the lucky column rates shown in the table above, which roughly doubles your odds at Celestial, Rake, Transcendent, and All or Nothing compared to a pearl roll.

Trait storage and saving good rolls

Every tool can hold one trait by default. If you roll something better than what is currently equipped, you can store it before spinning again so a bad result does not overwrite the good one. The Big Trait Bag game pass raises that storage limit to five traits per tool, which lets you keep specialized loadouts (for example, a mutation setup, a luck setup, and a speed setup) on the same claw.

Pity meter behavior

Shells displays a pity meter on the reroll screen, but it does not change the actual drop chances. Outcomes are pulled directly from the normal or lucky rate table on every roll, independent of how many previous rolls you have spent. Treat the meter as a cosmetic counter rather than a guaranteed pity system.

Picking the right trait for your build

Best-in-slot picks depend on what you are farming. Use the matrix below as a quick reference when deciding whether to keep a roll or burn another reroll.

PlaystylePriority traits
Rare shell huntingBlessed, Refined Taste, Lucky, Celestial, Pristine
Mutation farmingMutant, Tainted, Night Owl, Celestial, Transcendent
Money per inventory clearHeavy Lifter, Packed, Pristine
Speed and throughputAccelerated, Rake, Nimble
Long grinding sessionsVeteran, Obsessed, Streak, Chain
End-game all-rounderTranscendent, Celestial, Pristine, Refined
Tip: All or Nothing is the only trait that can actively lower your loot quality. Pair it only with high-rarity zones where the "lowest rarity in the area" floor is acceptable; otherwise the inconsistency cancels out the legendary-roll upside.

The reroll loop in Shells comes down to picking a tool you will keep long-term, stockpiling pearls for volume and lucky rerolls for the rare-trait spikes, and locking in any S-tier hit before pressing the button again. Once you land Transcendent, Rake, Celestial, or a stat-stacking Pristine on your endgame claw, additional rolls almost always make the build worse, so stop and save your remaining currency for a future tool.
