Chapter 3: A Connection is the first stretch of Silent Hill: Townfall where you are genuinely free to wander, and it is dense with pickups. The route runs from the town square, down West Shore Road, into Zoe’s house, out to the newsstand, and then back again to restore the power. Nothing here can be revisited later.

Quick answer: Chapter 3 holds eight Discoveries (numbers 5 through 12 of 85), CRTV Signal 3/18, Phone Number 5/13, Strange Postcard 1/15 and four Key Items. Clear all of them before you open the calendar door.

In Townfall, you cannot choose chapters or return to earlier areas; consequently, a single playthrough can leave any Document or Clue unobtained. Your 85 Discoveries directly influence the ending you receive.

Town square and West Shore Road pickups

Stand in the town square and raise the CRTV. Adjust the tuning dial until you land on channel 45 and the broadcast locks in. That registers CRTV Signal 3/18.

Walk around the western side of the square’s column, toward the red LET THE FERRIES IN poster. The “Our Grief is Their Failure” flyer is sitting on the bench in front of it — that is Document 5/85, the Vigil and Protest Flyer.
Use the public booth located along West Shore Road and dial 496 02444 to connect to the Haldane Hotel. This counts as Phone Number 5/13 toward the silver trophy’s required 13 numbers.

Phones are also the manual save system. Dialling 100 from any booth writes a save to one of your 20 slots.

Step into the storefront shop further along West Shore Road. Strange Postcard 1/15 is on the front counter, and it is the first of the set.

Strange Postcards do not respawn in New Game Plus. Every other collectible category carries over between playthroughs, but a postcard you walk past is gone for that save.

Zoe’s house: flashlight, batteries and two Clues

Zoe’s house sits at 2A West Shore Lane, west of the square. The power is out, so build the flashlight first — one of the Clues here is physically unreadable without it.

Head to the kitchen and search the drawers. You will pull out the Flashlight (No Batteries), which is useless on its own.

Move into the living room and read the handwritten note left on the coffee table. That is Document 6/85, the Hand Delivered Letter.
Go upstairs to the back bedroom and open the nightstand drawer for two AA Batteries.

In the inventory, combine the AA Batteries and Flashlight (No Batteries). This produces a working Flashlight, which is added to your Equipment.
Check the upstairs bathroom. The Human Organ for Transplant card is lying on the floor by the mat, and it logs as Clue 7/85.
Back downstairs, crouch into the low space under the staircase where the electricity meter sits. Shine the flashlight on the CEG Electricard Credit Guide beside it to pick up Clue 8/85. This one explains how the meter puzzle works later.

Peters’ Newsstand: the Newsagents Note and the Prepaid Power Card

Go down to the newsagent by the shore and inspect the note written by hand next to the cash register. This is Document 9/85, the Newsagents Note.

Grab the wooden plank lying in the shop. It is a melee weapon, and it is worth carrying out of here rather than leaving behind.
Search the opened cash register drawer and take the £5 Prepaid Power Card. This is the item that gets Zoe’s lights back on.

Electrical box puzzle: restoring power to Zoe’s house

Return to the meter under the stairs and slot the Prepaid Power Card into the reader.
Press button A to switch the display over to Card Credit, then press button B to push the credit onto the meter.
Flip the main power switch. The lights come up across the house and the computer downstairs can now be turned on — that is your confirmation the puzzle is solved.

Zoe’s computer: three Discoveries in the inbox

Boot the desktop in the living room and refresh the inbox. Three messages are waiting, and each one counts separately toward the 85 Discoveries. Read all three before you close the screen.

  • Your Letter — the top message, logged as a Document.
  • FW: For Attending SURG04GE_+ON — the middle message, logged as a Clue rather than a Document.
  • Please report in — the bottom message, logged as a Document.

Because the middle email files under Clues, it will not show up if you are only checking your Document tally. Open it on its own to be sure it registers.

Chapter 3 puzzle codes: the Organ Box and the calendar door

Organ Box code: 956 left, 133 right

The cooler box in the kitchen has two separate dial locks. Set the left set to 956 and the right set to 133, and the lid releases. The numbers tie back to the Organ Transplant Card you picked up in the bathroom, so there is no guesswork if you collected it.

Calendar door code: 18 MAY 1987

Upstairs, the locked bedroom door uses a rotating calendar dial rather than a key. Turn the rings until the date reads 18 MAY 1987 and the lock opens. Zoe’s Lanyard is on the other side, and taking it moves the story forward.

Once the lanyard is in your inventory, Chapter 3 is effectively finished. Check your counters before you go any further: Discoveries should sit at 12 of 85, with CRTV signals at 3 of 18, phone numbers at 5 of 13, and one Strange Postcard banked. Anything short of that is still sitting somewhere between the town square and the newsstand, and this is the last moment you can walk back for it.
