Silent Hill: Townfall is a standalone spin-off of the Silent Hill series that trades the usual American town for a fog-choked Scottish island. You play Simon Ordell, called back to St. Amelia in 1996 to “put things right,” armed with little more than a pocket television and a growing sense that the town is not at rest.

Quick answer: Silent Hill: Townfall arrives on PS5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store on September 24, 2026. A Deluxe Edition purchase unlocks 48-hour early access from September 22, 2026.

Release date and early access

The game releases on September 24, 2026 across all confirmed platforms. If you pre-order the Deluxe Edition (digital), you can start playing 48 hours earlier, on September 22, 2026. No specific launch time or timezone has been confirmed, so the studio has not attached a countdown to the day itself.

A tie-in one-shot comic, Silent Hill: Townfall – The Dock House, illustrated by David Roach and published by 2000 AD, arrived ahead of the game in print and digitally.

Platforms, editions, and pre-order bonuses

The setting: St. Amelia in 1996

The game is set in St. Amelia, a fictional Scottish seaside town inspired by St Monans in Fife. Simon repeatedly comes to in the water beside the docks, unable to remember why he is there. He investigates his ties to the town and its residents by assembling pieces of a history that gradually returns to him.

The 1996 setting is deliberate. The story sits on the edge of the era when home computers and the internet were beginning to spread, which shapes both the town’s look and its technology. It is the third Silent Hill title set outside the United States, after The Short Message in Germany and Silent Hill f in 1960s Japan, part of a shift toward treating “Silent Hill” as a psychological state rather than one fixed location.

The CRTV and how Townfall plays

This is the first major Silent Hill game built around a first-person view. That choice ties directly to the CRTV, a handheld cathode-ray television that reinvents the series’ iconic radio. You tune it to unstable analog signals to detect nearby threats, pick up narrative clues, and work through puzzles. Its screen only makes sense up close, which is why the perspective stays first-person.

Combat is deliberately fragile. Simon can swing melee weapons such as planks and pipes or fire firearms like a shotgun, but resources are scarce and enemies hit hard. There is no dodge, and blocking is weak, so avoidance often beats confrontation. You can run, hide, or distract creatures, and some of them will actively stalk you if you draw too much attention.

The story is what the writing team calls a “wide linear” experience. It has five endings, shaped by subtle choices and actions rather than a single hard fork, and two of those endings are reached through New Game Plus. Expect to replay it to see the full picture.

Voice cast and studio

The English voice cast is led by Jovan Adepo as Simon Ordell. Kezia Burrows plays Zoe, a nurse who reaches Simon through the CRTV, and Terry O’Quinn voices Richard, the enigmatic figure who summons Simon back to St. Amelia.

Townfall is developed by the Scottish studio Screen Burn Interactive, formerly known as No Code, the team behind Stories Untold and Observation. Jon McKellan directs and writes, with Pilotpriest (Anthony Scott Burns) composing and the game running on Unreal Engine 5. Konami Digital Entertainment and Annapurna Interactive co-publish. It is rated Mature 17+ by the ESRB for Blood, Strong Language, and Violence.

Whether you pre-order for the early start or wait for the standard launch, the core details hold: a first-person survival horror rooted in guilt and memory, set on a Scottish island that only grows stranger the deeper Simon goes.
