The first face-to-face meeting between Simon Ordell and Zoe in Silent Hill: Townfall is not a warm one. It happens deep inside a St. Amelia medical center, in a cramped office stacked with archive boxes, and it ends with Zoe running out of a fire exit into the fog. The scene also hands Simon his next objective through the CRTV, so it functions as both a character introduction and a hard plot pivot.
Quick answer: Simon and Zoe meet in an archive office past the clinic’s surgery doors. The PlayStation trophy A Long Night Ahead unlocks moments before Simon appears on screen.

The sequence opens on Zoe, not Simon. She walks in through the automatic double doors into a dark waiting area, moves past the clinic’s bulletin boards, and finds slumped, disfigured bodies sitting motionless on the chairs and on the floor near the reception window. None of them move.
Her beeper sounds next. Its display presents the scene’s first genuine threat: I KNOW YOU ARE HERE YOU ARE ALWAYS HERE SURGERY – NOW. She follows the message down the corridor, passes through the doors beneath the Surgery sign, and enters a flood of white light. After a dark transition, the trophy notification appears.
The beat order, once the surgery doors close behind her:
- Zoe reaches an office packed with stacked archive boxes.
- Simon is standing inside it, holding his handheld CRTV.
- Zoe tells him he should never have come back.
- Simon says he heard her voice asking him to return.
- Zoe panics and leaves through the fire exit into the mist.
- Richard’s broadcast cuts in on Simon’s CRTV.
Zoe’s reaction is the part that matters for the wider mystery. She is the voice that reached Simon through static in the first place, yet when he is standing in front of her, she treats his presence as a mistake rather than something she asked for.

Simon has no tidy explanation to offer her. He describes waking up in the water without planning to be there at all, which lines up with the game’s premise of him repeatedly coming to near the St. Amelia docks with an IV catheter still taped to his arm and a medical wristband carrying his name.

A Long Night Ahead trophy unlock
The trophy pops on its own during the black transition between the surgery doors and the archive office. There is no collectible to find and no optional action to perform, so reaching this point in the story is the whole requirement.
You will know it registered when the PlayStation unlock notification for A Long Night Ahead slides in over the dark screen, immediately before Simon appears among the stacked boxes. If the notification does not show up on screen, check the trophy list for the title after the cutscene ends.
Richard’s transmission and the Richard’s Gift map marker
Once Zoe is gone, Simon’s portable television picks up a broadcast buried in static. Richard tells him to find Zoe at the medical center and to collect an item that has been left for him in the town square. The small screen carries both interference and readable text while he talks, spelling out the two tasks.
The transmission causes a violent disturbance in the hallway: lights flare, and folders fly across the floor around Simon. Once the scene calms, he produces his St. Amelia map for the Shorefront District, with Richard’s Gift marked by a red circle at the square.
The map update is the scene’s actual handoff. Once that red circle appears on the Shorefront District map, the next destination is set, and following Zoe out of the building is the way forward.
Who Simon and Zoe are, and why the CRTV matters here
Simon Ordell is the playable protagonist, seen entirely from a first-person view, and he is drawn back to the island town to put things right. Zoe Ellis is a nurse at the local family clinic and a resident of St. Amelia, quietly stubborn about helping people who need it. Richard is the third voice on the CRTV, an enigmatic figure who summons Simon back to the island.
Jovan Adepo plays Simon, Kezia Burrows plays Zoe, and Terry O’Quinn plays Richard in the English cast.
Hiroki Yasumoto voices Simon in the Japanese dub.
The handheld CRTV is the thread tying the whole encounter together. It is Simon’s threat detector, his puzzle interface, and the receiver that carried Zoe’s voice to him in the first place, which is exactly why her denial in the archive office lands as strangely as it does. Silent Hill: Townfall is developed by Screen Burn Interactive and published by Konami Digital Entertainment and Annapurna Interactive, and it is scheduled to arrive on PlayStation 5 and PC on September 24, 2026.
