Flame Breathing is one of the reworked styles heading into Slayers 2, and the developer showcase that dropped on August 20th, 2026 laid out the full kit — the Flame Katana, five skills, and a cutscene ultimate — alongside raw PvP footage of two players trading combos in an arena.

Quick answer: Flame Breathing in Slayers 2 runs on the Flame Katana and five skills — Unknowing Fire, Blazing Universe, Flame Undulation, Flame Tiger (which splits into a hold and a tap variant), and the Purgatory ultimate. Flame Undulation doubles as an M1 counter.

Everything demonstrated in the showcase, in the order it was shown. Keybinds were not confirmed on screen, so treat the skill names as the fixed part and expect the input layout to be revealed in-game.

SkillWhat it does
Flame KatanaThe style’s weapon, with its own handling and stance animations
Unknowing FireDashes forward wrapped in flames and chains vertical slashes that launch the target upward
Blazing UniverseLeap into the air with an ignited blade, then slam it into the ground
Flame Undulation (Counter)A vertical flame cyclone with a circular slash; works as an M1 counter and as a damage skill on its own
Flame Tiger (Hold)A flurry of slashes that forms a flame tiger crashing into the target and the environment
Flame Tiger (Tap)Fires a flaming tiger projectile forward that bites the opponent and explodes
PurgatoryUltimate; a full cutscene dash engulfed in hellfire ending in a cinematic double slash

The Flame Katana opens the showcase on its own, before any skills are used, so the basic swing and stance animations are visible with the ability bar up in the open world.

Unknowing Fire and Blazing Universe: the approach tools

Unknowing Fire is the gap closer. The character dashes forward inside a trail of flames and links vertical slashes together, and the final hit pops the opponent into the air rather than just knocking them back. That launch is the important part — it sets up whatever you throw next while the target is off the ground.

Blazing Universe answers that from the opposite direction. Instead of closing distance along the ground, the character jumps with the blade already lit and brings it down into the floor. It reads as the follow-up to an aerial opener rather than a starter of its own.

Flame Undulation counter: how the M1 counter works

Flame Undulation is the one defensive button in the kit, and it does two jobs. Used on its own it spins up a vertical flame cyclone with a circular slash that deals damage to anyone in range. Used on reaction, it functions as an M1 counter against an incoming basic attack.

Note: because it still damages without a counter landing, there is no dead input here — a mistimed read is a slower attack, not a whiff.

Flame Tiger hold and tap variants

Flame Tiger is the split skill. Holding the input produces a flurry of slashes that build into a flame tiger crashing down on the target and tearing through the surrounding terrain — a close-range commitment. Tapping the same input instead sends a tiger-shaped projectile forward, which bites the opponent and detonates.

That matters for a style that has historically had nothing at range. In Part 1, Flame Breathing had no ranged options at all, which made it awkward for solo content. The tap variant is the first genuine ranged pressure the style has been shown with.

Purgatory ultimate and PvP footage

Purgatory closes out the skill portion. It plays as a full cutscene: a dash wrapped in hellfire that ends on a cinematic double slash. It is the direct descendant of Part 1’s Rengoku (Purgatory), which was locked behind defeating the Rengoku boss.

After the individual skills, the showcase moves into an extended 1v1 in an arena, cutting between both players’ perspectives so you can see the same exchanges from either side. The footage runs several minutes and is the clearest look at how the skills chain together in a real fight rather than against a dummy.

What changed from Part 1 Flame Breathing

Every breathing style and Blood Demon Art carried over from the first game is being rebuilt from scratch for the sequel, and Flame Breathing shows it. Several names survive, but the behaviour behind them has shifted.

Two Part 1 moves — Rising Scorching Sun and the separate Blazing Universe unlock order — were not part of the showcase in the same form, so the Part 2 mastery requirements and level gates are still open questions.

Slayers 2 release date and time

Slayers 2 launches on Roblox on September 18th, 2026 at 4PM EST. The date was confirmed on September 7th, after the developer had spent the preceding weeks running near-daily showcases — Flame Breathing on August 20th, then Tanto Knife and Claws with a Q&A on August 23rd, Tamari Balls on August 26th, Wind Breathing on August 30th, Dream Manipulation on September 2nd, and Cryokinesis on September 4th.

Worth knowing before launch day: progress does not carry over from the first game, because the two are separate Roblox experiences. Gamepasses and very rare clans have a chance of transferring, and the Kamado clan was pulled from the original game on September 2nd, which points toward existing owners keeping it in the sequel.

Flame Breathing arrives in the sequel looking less like the near-copy of Water Breathing it was accused of being and more like a style with its own shape — a launcher, a slam, a counter that still damages on a bad read, and a tiger that can now be thrown. How the mastery levels and keybinds land is the last piece, and that only becomes clear once the game is live.
