Soul’s Remnant: How Gifting and NPC Bond Levels Work

The exact Heart Point tiers, best and worst gifts per villager, and how to earn return mail.

The exact Heart Point tiers, best and worst gifts per villager, and how to earn return mail.

Gifting is the fastest way to raise your Bond with the ten villagers in Soul’s Remnant, a free-to-play 2D platformer MMORPG from Chaomoon. Each villager tracks a hidden relationship meter shown as a row of hearts. Fill that meter, and you unlock return gifts sent through the in-game mail, plus a matching chat emote once you reach five hearts.

Quick answer: You get five gifts per day shared across all villagers. Give an NPC an item they rate as a Favorite (+150) or Love (+80) to raise their Bond fastest, and never hand over anything they Dislike (-15) or Hate (-30), since those subtract Heart Points.

How gift preference tiers change Heart Points

Every giftable item falls into one of six preference tiers for each villager. The tier decides how many Heart Points the gift adds or removes. Because your daily gifts are limited, matching high-value items to the right NPC is what makes the system efficient.

Preference tierHeart Points
Favorite+150
Love+80
Like+30
Neutral+10
Dislike-15
Hate-30

Many cooked foods carry a bonus that adds extra Heart Points on top of the base tier value. Crafting can also roll echoes that boost gift hearts for a specific villager, such as a modifier that grants extra gift hearts to the Mysterious Man.

An item can only be gifted if it is tradable, not cosmetic equipment, not inventory-locked, and not blocked by a server-only flag. If the game refuses a gift, one of those conditions is the reason.

Bond levels and Heart Point thresholds

Think of Heart Points as an experience bar for the Bond. Each time the bar fills, the villager gains a Heart and the bar resets to zero. Every level after that needs more points than the one before it. Reaching Bond Level 1 is the key milestone, because that is when the villager starts mailing you return gifts. Higher levels increase both how often those gifts arrive and their quality.

Bond levelHeart Points needed
Level 1600
Level 21,000
Level 31,500
Level 42,000
Level 52,500
Level 63,500
Level 74,500
Level 85,500
Level 96,500
Level 108,000

Note: Gifting alone will not carry you all the way. Daily relationship quests are a strong supplement, and some of them grant 500 Heart Points for the villager who issued the quest. Combining gifts with those quests is the fastest route up the ten levels.

Reaching ten hearts with every villager also ties into the game’s Steam achievements, so daily gifting pays off for completionists over time.

Best and worst gifts for each villager

Each villager has a single Favorite worth the full +150, a set of Love-tier items worth +80, and specific items they Dislike or Hate. The table below lists the top-value gifts and the ones to avoid for all ten NPCs. Each villager also mails back items themed to a category, noted alongside their name.

A few overlaps are worth remembering. Dango is disliked or hated by several villagers (Smith, Shepherd, Quest Master) but the Shop Keeper actually loves it. Spicy Unagi Special pleases the Tailor while Kmitty rejects it. Always check the target NPC before spending a daily slot.

How to spend your five daily gifts

Confirm your remaining gift count. The in-game relationship HUD shows a ten-heart meter and a daily gifts-remaining counter. You start with five gifts per day, and that limit resets each day.
Match each slot to a Favorite or Love item for the villager you want to level. A single Favorite adds +150, so five well-chosen gifts move the meter far faster than random handouts.
Complete that villager’s daily relationship quest. Some award 500 Heart Points toward their Bond, which stacks with your gifts for the day.

You know the gift landed when the villager’s Heart Points rise and, on a completed level, an extra Heart appears on the meter. Once any villager hits Bond Level 1, watch your mail for their return gifts.

The daily gift limit is described as increasing as you play, so the five-per-day cap applies mainly to early progression. For the mechanic overview and per-villager mail tables, the official Villagers page documents the rewards tied to each Bond level.
