Speed is the whole game in Steal a Chicken. Every zone past the starting Forest has a recommended speed printed on a sign at its entrance, and that number is the only thing standing between you and a 190kg Magma Chicken. Get fast enough, and the Guard chasing you stops being a problem. Stay slow, and you will keep dropping birds halfway home.
Quick answer: Buy the highest trail you can afford, stand on the treadmill with a speed multiplier active, and keep walking until your Speed clears the sign at the next zone gate. The Abyss gate needs 1B Speed, and everything below it is funded by selling heavy eggs to the Merchant.
Speed required for every zone in Steal a Chicken
Zones unlock in a fixed order, and each one holds heavier chickens than the last. The Forest is free to enter from the start with a recommended speed of 45. After that, the numbers climb fast.
| Zone | Speed needed | Example chicken |
|---|---|---|
| Forest | 45 (recommended) | Candy Chicken (3.3kg) |
| Lake | 5K | Grandpa Chicken (25kg) |
| Jungle | 70K | Tiger Chicken (47kg) |
| Desert | 240K | King Chicken (63kg) |
| Snow | 2M | Ice Chicken (76kg) |
| Volcano | 30M | Magma Chicken (190kg) |
| Beach | 200M | Cyber Chicken (149kg) |
| Abyss | 1B | Demon King Chicken (167kg) |
Cosmic and Crystal sit above the Abyss in the zone list, and the Cosmic Zone has its own badge for players who make it there. No confirmed speed figure is attached to either one.
One thing worth knowing before you sprint off: the zone a chicken lives in does not perfectly track its weight. An 8.7kg Ancient Chicken sits in the Snow zone, while a 63kg King Chicken is out in the Desert. Weight is what pays, so check the kilogram label on the nest, not just the zone you are standing in.

Add to Google Preferences →How Speed is earned: treadmill, multipliers, and trails
All speed comes from the treadmill at your base. You walk, it counts steps, and each step adds Speed. At Level 1 that is +5 per step, which is why the treadmill upgrade is one of the first things worth buying at $10K.
Two things multiply what the treadmill gives you. Robux multipliers are a flat purchase that scales the whole rate, and trails bought with in-game cash stack another multiplier on top. Both apply while you are walking, so the practical routine is to buy the best trail you can afford, then leave your character running on the belt.
| Multiplier | Cost |
|---|---|
| x2 Speed | 5 Robux |
| x4 Speed | 9 Robux |
| x8 Speed | 20 Robux |
| x16 Speed | 35 Robux |
| x32 Speed | 65 Robux |
| x64 Speed | 125 Robux |
| x128 Speed | 199 Robux |
Trails are the free-to-play version of the same idea. The Red Trail costs $5M and gives x4 speed, and it is usually the first one you can realistically afford. Above it sit the Galaxy Trail at x5 speed for $60M, plus the Aquatic, Divine, and Rainbow trails. The Rainbow Trail has its own badge, and only a small fraction of players have earned it.

There is also a free 10K Speed bonus for liking the experience and joining the Kibrix Runner group. It is small once you are past the Jungle, but it is a meaningful head start on day one.
The cash loop that pays for speed upgrades
Trails and treadmill levels cost money, and money comes from eggs. The chain is short: steal a chicken, put it in your pen, wait for it to lay, carry the egg to the Merchant, sell. Heavier chickens lay heavier eggs, and heavier eggs sell for dramatically more. An early Candy Egg at 1.9kg sells for around $1.15K. A King Egg from a 63kg King Chicken is in a completely different bracket.

Tip: Other players can hit you with a bat and make you drop a chicken mid-run, so the safest steals are the ones nobody else is contesting. If two thieves are already fighting over a nest, waiting a few seconds often hands you a free bird.
Use the Pet Index for lump-sum cash payouts
The Index tracks every chicken type you have stolen, organized by zone, and pays out large cash rewards as you fill entries. It rewards variety rather than weight, which changes how you play once you are deep into a zone. Grabbing a 15kg Strange Chicken or an 8.7kg Ancient Chicken you have never registered before can be worth more than another run at a heavy bird you already own.

Collection counters are tracked separately from claimed rewards, so it is easy to hit a milestone and forget to cash it in. Open the Index after any run into a new zone and claim anything that is ready.
Filling gaps often means backtracking. A Robo Chicken at 23kg and an Ice Chicken at 76kg both sit in the Snow zone, well below your power level by the time you are running the Volcano, but they are quick registrations that pay.

Mini-games that add speed while you train
Three mini-games run directly from the interface while your character keeps walking on the treadmill: Perfect Hit, Egg Rush, and Flappy Chicken. They award extra speed and rewards, and because they play in the UI, nothing about your treadmill progress pauses while you are in them. During long grinds between zone thresholds, they are the closest thing to free progress the game offers.
Redeem codes for a cash head start
Codes hand out cash and boosts, which matters most early when $5M for a Red Trail feels impossible. Four are currently active: Crystal, Relax, September, and Release. The Release code is the biggest single drop at 100,000 Money.
If nothing happens, the usual culprits are a typo, a missed capital letter, a stray space, or a code you already claimed on that account. Codes are single-use per account. If you are confident the entry is correct, rejoin to land on a different server running a newer version of the game and try again.
How to tell your speed is high enough
Every zone entrance posts its recommended speed on a sign. Compare it to your Speed stat before you walk in. Clearing the number means you can outrun the Guard on the way back with room to spare; sitting below it means the chase will likely end with you dropping the bird.
A successful steal confirms itself twice. You get a “stolen!” message naming the chicken and its weight, and the bird appears in your pen when you reach it. If neither happens, the steal failed somewhere in transit, and the three common causes are the Guard catching you, another player batting the chicken out of your hands, or a full pen with no free slot.
Push past the 1B mark and the Abyss opens up, which is where the Demon King Chicken lives. Getting there is not complicated, just long. The players who make the climb quickly are the ones who keep the pen full, sell on every trip, and never leave the treadmill idle while they are doing anything else.
