The last step of The Beast of Balaur drops you at the bottom of the mountain with a dead man’s story and nobody to tell it to. The objective is deliberately vague — Parlita is a small village, and “ask around” makes it sound like you need to work a crowd. You don’t. There is exactly one person who matters.
Quick answer: Head to Parlita, enter the wooden cabin on the north side of the village, and talk to Ciprian. Telling him about the body you found in the cave ends the quest immediately.
What has to happen in the cave first
The objective only fires once you have actually dealt with what is living up on Balaur. The trail starts in the mountains west of Parlita near the Mount Balaur Shrine, where Focus Mode picks out tracks leading up the left-hand path. Follow them to a cave full of skeletons, inspect the remains, then crouch through the gap at the back.
Behind that gap is the miniboss itself — a supernatural wolf trapped in the cave. Kill it, then inspect the skeletons and the body lying on the ground in the chamber. That body is the whole reason for the trip back down, and skipping the inspection is the most common way players end up wandering Parlita with nothing to say.

Ciprian is inside a wooden cabin on the north side of Parlita. He is not standing outside, he does not call you over, and none of the other villagers move the quest along — you have to walk into the house and approach him directly. Focus Mode highlights him in yellow once you are in the room.

How to confirm the quest actually ended
The dialogue closes with a time skip and a “QUEST ENDED” card for The Beast of Balaur. The clock jumps forward to Moonrise, the game autosaves, and the payout appears on screen. If you are still standing in the cabin with the objective sitting in your journal, the conversation was not finished.

Note: the skip lands on Moonrise regardless of when you arrive, so if you walked in during the afternoon you will step back outside into the night. Plan any daytime-only errands in Parlita before you knock on the door.

Reasons the objective will not complete
There are only a handful of ways this step breaks, and all of them come down to state rather than bugs.
- The body in the cave was never inspected after the fight, so Coen has nothing to report.
- You drained Ciprian at some earlier point. He can no longer be told what happened, and the quest resolves on the ending worth 75 XP instead.
- You started the quest from Ciprian’s side rather than by stumbling into the mountains. In that version the journal asks you to find Iancu and then go back to Ciprian, which is the same cabin and the same man.
- The coronation deadline runs out while the quest is open. The Beast of Balaur has failure endings, and leaving Parlita unvisited long enough locks you into one of them.
The missing man is named Iancu, and Ciprian was his friend — that is the reason the trail ends at a cabin instead of a reward chest. Deliver the news, take the Moonrise skip, and the mountain above Parlita is finished business.
