Echoes of Silenced Bells sends Coen and Anca to the ruined convent of St. Tyna’s in search of forbidden books that could help against Brencis. The grounds are wrapped in fog and overrun by undead nuns who rise again after being cut down, so the real objective is not brute force. You need to clear a route to the library, survive the catacombs, and defeat the corrupted nun Leonica at the end.
Quick answer: Meet Anca at the old inn, cross the fog to the convent, grab the Monastery Keys from the shack at the back of the courtyard, take the Relic of St. Tyna from the sacristy, refuse to hand it to the soldiers and fight them, then push the bookcase in the library to reach the catacombs and kill Leonica. Finish by either burning her notes or giving them to Anca.
Start the quest and cross the fog to the convent
The quest sits on the eastern side of the map. Begin by talking to Anca at the old inn near St. Tyna’s, which is where she settled after Laslea was burned. A cutscene plays as soon as you arrive, and she explains the plague has left the monastery buried in thick fog.

Add to Google Preferences →Survey the courtyard from the balcony
The direct route to the library is blocked by undead nuns wearing bells, so Anca suggests heading up to get a view. Follow her through the refectory building to the upper floor of St. Tyna’s Chapterhouse, using Focus Mode to spot chests and loot along the way. Step onto the balcony to trigger the survey.
Inspect the highlighted points of interest to plan your approach. Each one matters for how you move through the grounds.
| Location | What it offers |
|---|---|
| Bell Tower | Lets you ring a bell to move the sisters around the grounds. |
| Chapel | Large prayer room that holds St. Tyna’s body. |
| Dormitories | Where the sisters sleep, with the Anghel shed nearby. |
| Library | The goal, filled and guarded by sisters. |
| Infirmary | Smoke from the chimney signals someone inside; a top-floor corridor links it to the library. |

Get the Monastery Keys and the Relic of St. Tyna
Access to the upper corridor runs through Brencis’s soldiers, who are trapped inside a building. You can speak to them through a window, where an officer offers the monastery keys in exchange for St. Tyna’s necklace-shaped relic. Accepting starts the Most Precious Thing side quest. You do not need the deal to progress, but it is the cleanest route.
The whole courtyard is patrolled by undead sisters. Sneak between them to reach each building, and avoid getting spotted while you move to the back of the grounds.

The relic carries witchcraft-focused buffs, which makes it worth keeping rather than trading away.
- Witchcraft Ability Damage
- Witchcraft Ability Health Cost
- Activation Charge Restoration from Actions
If you visit the chapel, you can read St. Tyna’s story on the mural and inspect her mangled body on the altar. Her tomb is empty and her teeth have been pried out. Compelling the soul here reveals the necklace was handed to another sister for protection. You can skip this, since the relic turns up regardless.

Tip: Before heading back, read the Compana Loquitur paper in the western house. It explains what each bell ring means, which you will want if you use the bell tower. St. Tyna’s scattered body parts, including her tibia, finger, and collarbone, are optional but sell for a high price.
Open the corridor and finish Most Precious Thing
Return to the soldiers at the window. The officer has been using you the whole time, so the recommended move is to keep the relic for yourself. Telling them you are keeping it forces all three guards out to attack. Beat them, along with any nuns that join in, and you complete the Most Precious Thing quest while opening access to the upper corridor.
The bell tower is an alternative tool if you prefer to move the sisters instead of fighting through them. Save before ringing so you can change your mind.
| Bell rings | Result |
|---|---|
| 5 (Dormitories) | Sisters stay near and inside the library, so not ideal. |
| 4 (Infirmary) | Sisters force into the infirmary and kill the soldiers; some remain in the library, and you can no longer trade the necklace. |
| 3 (Chapel) | Everyone goes to pray, leaving the courtyard and library empty. |
Once the path is clear, call Anca over. Moving her to the library takes three hours of in-game time.
Search the catacombs for the forbidden books
Inside the library, loot the bookcases first, since several shelves hold Manuals worth grabbing. Then follow Anca to the marked bookcase and push it aside to reveal a hidden passage into the catacombs.
The catacombs are mostly linear. Cut through the undead sisters as you descend, inspect the document table ringed with candles, and push through the steel door at the end. Beyond it, Leonica is performing a blood ritual, which begins the boss fight.
How to beat Leonica, She Who Speaks with the Devil
The fight is much easier at night. If it is daytime, use the shrine within the monastery grounds to wait for nightfall so you can rely on your vampire powers, which give you stronger damage and health regeneration.
Open by rushing in for a quick flurry, then settle into a defensive rhythm and punish the gaps between her moves. She has a small set of attacks you can learn to read.
| Attack | How to avoid it |
|---|---|
| Frontal spike burst | She spreads her arms and fires spikes from her torso; strafe to the side as she charges, or get behind her. |
| Homing orb | A slow orb she launches at you; dodge at the last second so it cannot track you. |
| Crow attack | Two flocks of crows fly at you; dodge them, as they are easy to read. |
| Summoned sisters | Each time you break a health section she spawns undead nuns (three, then four, then five); pull them apart and fight one at a time. |
Aim for perfect blocks between her unblockable moves and avoid leaning too hard on Witchcraft abilities, since they cost health to use. Defeating her rewards Leonica’s Ring, a strong accessory for Witchcraft builds, along with the Unholy Vitality Manual.
Burn the notes or give them to Anca
After the fight, Anca learns Leonica was trying to free the sisters from the curse and was interrupted at the final step. You then choose what to do with her ritual notes. Neither choice changes the main story; the only real difference is whether the sisters find peace, and it costs one notch of time.
| Choice | Outcome |
|---|---|
| Throw the notes in the fire | Anca is upset but moves on. The sisters stay cursed forever, and the fog and chanting persist in the epilogue. |
| Give the notes to Anca | She completes the ritual and seems weighed down by her new sins. The sisters are freed and the fog lifts in the epilogue. |
If you never dealt with the soldiers earlier, they turn up near the end to demand the relic. Either hand it over or fight them. Once the choice is made and the last cutscene plays, you skim the books back in the library, which completes Echoes of Silenced Bells.
