Ribwort Plantain is the medicinal herb you gather during Withering Away, the second main quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Five of them grow in a tight cluster around Losing Glen, and none of them sit on the main path — every single one is tucked behind a ledge, a rock wall, or a tree trunk, which is why players walk straight past them.
Quick answer: Two Ribwort Plantains grow on the rocky ledges north of Losing Glen, a third sits beside a pine tree up a rock wall northeast of the village, a fourth is on the ground under a large tree by a wooden fence to the west, and a fifth is deep in the woods further west near Anzo’s Hut.
When the Ribwort Plantain objective starts in Withering Away
Withering Away begins automatically once All Good Things ends, and it runs through the usual morning chores at Coen’s house — splitting logs, feeding the stove, picking up your sword. The herb hunt opens up under the “Obtain medicinal herbs from Anca” objective, which the quest tracker displays with a running counter as you collect.
Treat this one as time-sensitive. Withering Away has a fail state, and failing it kills Esme, Coen’s mother. The quest has to be wrapped up before Sacred Covenant, and the herbs must be prepared to the exact instructions you are given.
Note: hunting for the plants themselves costs you nothing. Time in The Blood of Dawnwalker is spent on quests and certain dialogue choices, not on wandering, so exploring the open world around Losing Glen does not burn a time segment.

| Plant | Where it grows |
|---|---|
| 1 and 2 | North of Losing Glen, up the rocky ledges to the left of the dirt path; both grow close together |
| 3 | Northeast of the village, at the top of a rock wall, right beside a pine tree |
| 4 | West of Losing Glen, on the ground beneath a large tree next to a wooden fence |
| 5 | Further west in dense forest, near Anzo’s Hut, at the base of a large tree trunk |
Plants 1 and 2: the ledges north of the village
Head north out of Losing Glen and follow the dirt path until the ground on your left rises into broken rock. Leave the path and climb the ledges. Both plants grow within a few steps of each other on the raised ground, so once you have found the first, the second is almost always in view.

Plant 3: the rock wall northeast of the village
The third plant sits northeast of the village on higher ground. Open the map and you will see the marker sitting above the village, away from the buildings.

Getting there means climbing a rock wall rather than walking around it. Once you pull yourself over the top, the herb is growing right next to a lone pine tree.

Plant 4: under the large tree west of Losing Glen
Swing back around to the west side of the settlement. The fourth plant is easy ground-level pickup, no climbing needed — look for a wooden fence, then check the base of the big tree standing beside it.

Stand next to the plant and the “Pick up Ribwort Plantain” prompt appears. Harvest it before you move on to the last one.

Plant 5: the forest near Anzo’s Hut
Keep pushing west past the fourth plant until the trees close in around you. The fifth Ribwort Plantain grows in that dense stretch of forest, out near Anzo’s Hut, at the foot of a large tree trunk. Foliage hides it well, so approach slowly and watch for the interaction prompt rather than trying to spot the leaves.
How to confirm each Ribwort Plantain was picked up
Two things tell you it registered. First, the on-screen prompt reads “Pick up Ribwort Plantain” only while the herb is still there — harvest it and the plant disappears from the ground. Second, the objective counter in the quest tracker increases immediately, moving from 1 / 2 upward as you gather.
If a plant you expected is missing, you have almost certainly already taken it. These spawns do not restock, and the counter is the reliable check, not your memory of which ledge you climbed.
Using Ribwort Plantain for crafting
Harvesting the herb also introduces the Crafting panel, where gathered ingredients turn into consumables. The distinction that matters is that crafted consumables keep their full effect during combat, while food is weakened in a fight. Additional recipes are found out in the world rather than unlocked automatically, so anything extra you pick up around Losing Glen is worth holding on to.
Gathering all five takes only a few minutes and does not advance the clock, so there is no reason to leave any of them in the ground. Grab the pair north of the village first, work your way northeast, then loop west toward the hut — that route covers every spawn without doubling back.
