The Blood of Dawnwalker: How to Make the Merchant Reopen His Shop (Lost Blood)

Pass time at a shrine until the next day so the Silberstein trader returns and Lost Blood can be finished.

Pass time at a shrine until the next day so the Silberstein trader returns and Lost Blood can be finished.

The Lost Blood side quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker stalls the moment you tell the Silberstein trader what happened to his son. He shuts the stall, the objective flips to “Wait until the merchant reopens his shop,” and nothing you do at that spot will move the quest forward. The block is purely a time gate, and the game gives you a fast way to skip past it.

Quick answer: Go to any shrine, choose Wait, and push the clock forward until noon the next in-game day, then return to the trader in southwest Silberstein. The objective changes to “Go back to the merchant” once the shop is open again.

Where the Silberstein merchant is in Svartrau City

Silberstein is the district on the eastern side of Svartrau City. The general goods trader you need sits in the southwestern part of the district, in the last building at the bottom of Silberstein, south of the Silberstein Shrine. That shrine doubles as your fast travel point, so it is both where you arrive and where you will burn time.

Note: merchants across Vale Sangora follow the day and night cycle, and most stalls close after dark regardless of any quest state. If you arrive at night, the closed shop is not the Lost Blood gate — it is the normal schedule.

How to pass time at a shrine to reopen the shop

Walk to the nearest shrine after the conversation ends. In Silberstein, the candle-lit shrine north of the trader’s building is the closest option, and you can fast travel straight to it from anywhere on the map.
Interact with the shrine and pick the Wait option from the menu. The shrine also handles saving and perk spending, so make sure you select Wait rather than one of the neighbouring entries.

Set the target to the next morning and confirm. A short time-lapse plays showing the sun coming up, and you wake at the shrine on the following day.
Interact with the shrine one more time and wait again, this time until noon. Waiting to noon on the day after your conversation is the safest target, since the stall may still be shut in the early morning hours.

Head south from the shrine to the trader’s building and speak to him. You do not need to re-read the letter or re-enter the cave — the conversation picks up on its own.

You do not have to use the shrine at all. Running another side quest, exploring, or clearing a nearby camp will also push the clock forward, and the trader will be back once a full day has gone by. The shrine is simply the fastest route if you have nothing else on your list nearby.

How to confirm the shop has reopened

The journal is the reliable check. Once enough time has passed, the tracked objective changes from “Wait until the merchant reopens his shop” to “Go back to the merchant,” and a waypoint appears over the stall in southwest Silberstein. If the journal still shows the waiting objective, the day has not turned over yet and talking to anyone in the district will change nothing.

Two things commonly stop the objective from updating. Returning the same evening, before a full in-game day has elapsed, leaves the quest untouched. Arriving at night also finds the stall closed, because vendors across the valley shut down after dark. Neither situation breaks the quest — advance the clock and come back in daylight.

The Mysterious Ring choice and Lost Blood rewards

In the second conversation the trader apologises for lashing out, thanks Coen for ending his son’s suffering, and fills in what happened to him. He then asks whether you still have the ring taken from the Murohn’s corpse.

ResponseResult
Say you still have itHe offers to buy the Mysterious Ring from you for coin. You can purchase it back from his stock afterwards.
Say you no longer have itHe accepts it without argument and you keep the Mysterious Ring.

The Mysterious Ring is a story item with no stats attached, so this is a roleplay decision rather than a build one. The quest closes out either way, handing over the Medicus II Manual and 100 XP, plus coin if you sold the ring back.

Worth remembering while you plan the trip: Lost Blood costs two time segments in total, one for killing the Murohn and one for the first conversation in Silberstein. Time is a resource in The Blood of Dawnwalker, so it is efficient to spend the waiting period on other errands around Svartrau City rather than standing at the shrine, then swing back to Silberstein at noon to close the quest out.
