The Blood of Dawnwalker: Song of the Mountain Walkthrough (Peaceful Path)

Reach the uriashi village, survive the Uriash test without a fight, and learn where Isbrand is being held.

Reach the uriashi village, survive the Uriash test without a fight, and learn where Isbrand is being held.

Song of the Mountain is a side quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker that sends you up the mountain with Lacra to reach the uriashi village. The goal is to speak with the Elder and learn where Isbrand is hiding. Isbrand is Brencis’s sire, and he may know the weaknesses you can use against the knyaz before you strike.

Quick answer: Meet Lacra near Crown Rock at night, climb east while following the windchimes with Focus Mode and using Planeshift on the marked walls, then calm Lacra down and stand still through the Uriash stone-throwing test. Surviving it makes the Elder reveal Isbrand’s location and completes the quest.

Song of the Mountain requirements and rewards

This quest starts in Svartrau City and is handed to you by Lacra. It only becomes available after you finish A Friend Like This, and it leads directly into Hive and Seek within the same questline. There is no fail state, so passing time in the world will not lock you out of it.

Meet Lacra near Crown Rock at night

Head to Crown Rock and meet Lacra there at night. The objective marker shows what looks like a timer, but it does not actually fail from time passing, so you have room to prepare.

When you speak with her, Lacra suggests draining a nearby shepherd before you set off. You can feed on him or talk her out of it. Either choice is fine, since it has no lasting effect on the rest of the quest.

Climb the mountain by following the windchimes

Start climbing the mountain to the east once you are ready. Use Focus Mode (L2/LT) to spot the wind chimes. They mark the correct path upward whenever you are unsure where to go.

Work along the snowy trail past the herd of sheep. At several points you will reach walls you cannot walk up normally, so use Planeshift to climb them and keep progressing.
Clear the enemies the mountain throws at you as you ascend. A pack of wolves attacks partway up, a Pack Leader boss appears after Lacra breaks through a blocked path, and a bear boss guards a later stretch. Defeat each one and continue following the chimes.
Keep moving until you hear owls near your objective. A cutscene triggers as the Uriash surround you and demand that you drop your weapons.

Note: A rockslide will shake the screen at one point on the way up. It is only a temporary effect and does not harm you, so keep climbing.

Avoid the fight with the Uriash guards

At the top you are stopped by Uriash guards, and Lacra turns hostile. How you respond decides whether this ends in a brawl. Fighting forces you to kill every Uriash in the village, which removes multiple vendors and blocks the A Mother’s Plea quest. A peaceful resolution is strongly recommended.

Pick the calming dialogue options in this order to defuse the standoff:

  • All right, fine.
  • Lacra, calm down.
  • Nobody needs to die.
  • Can we stop with the hostilities?
  • What do you mean?
  • What more proof do you need?
  • [do nothing]
  • [do nothing]
  • It’s clearly a test. Go on.

After the Elder agrees to talk, the Uriash begin throwing rocks at you. This is a deliberate test, so stand still and do nothing while they pelt you. When you are given the option, tell them not to hit Lacra and confirm to the Matriarch that you understand it is a test. She will be impressed and ask you to follow her.

Follow the Elder to complete the quest

Follow the Elder through the village. She tells you that Isbrand is being held in chains and that she last saw him two years ago. Walk to the far end of the village and speak with her there to get the details on his location.

That final conversation ends Song of the Mountain and awards the full 300 XP. You will know it worked when the quest closes out and Hive and Seek becomes your next objective in the questline.
